Lawrie or Kemp

Who to start, who to bench. Grab that WW guy? Low priced rookie or high priced stud?

Lawrie or Kemp

Postby ChrisV82 » Wed Mar 21, 2012 8:06 pm

I need to keep two of the following:

Matt Kemp
Adrian Gonzalez
Ian Kinsler
Desmond Jennings
Brett Lawrie
Chris Young
Yovani Gallardo
Brandon Beachy
Cory Luebke

Originally I was going to go with Kemp and Gonzalez, but I feel like Lawrie is the better value given position scarcity, Kemp's overvalue, Lawrie's youth/potential, and the much lower cost for Lawrie (Kemp would cost me a third round pick, Lawrie 9th).
I like sports with balls in them.

Without knowing the exact specifics of your league (i.e. what type of player is available in the 3rd vs. what type of player is available in the 9th after you factor in all of the keepers). In the keeper leagues I have played in, the 3rd round does not usually yeild superstars such as Kemp.

The way you need to look at it is not Lawrie vs. Kemp. The question is whether Lawrie + Player X in the third round is better for your team than Kemp + Player Y in the 9th round.

My gut feeling is that you are over thinking it. I am guessing you won't be able to get Kemp back in the third (if at all). Players like Kemp don't grow on trees. Lawrie has less than 300 pro at bats. Keep Kemp IMO.

I got Lawrie in the sixth round of my most recent draft. Kemp went #2 overall.
