Old John Mcdonald had the Num 5 spot, EIEIO

Who to start, who to bench. Grab that WW guy? Low priced rookie or high priced stud?

Old John Mcdonald had the Num 5 spot, EIEIO

Postby Zubaz4fans » Mon Mar 30, 2009 6:50 am

The Los Angeles Times reports that James McDonald "appears to have won the competition to be the Dodgers' fifth starter."

Manager Joe Torre refused to confirm anything, but said: "At this point in time, I think McDonald is the guy that we want to see more of." McDonald is among the top MLB-ready pitching prospects in baseball and has a chance to be an asset in NL-only leagues right away. He tossed 11 1/3 scoreless innings between the regular season and playoffs after debuting last September and has a 4.70 ERA in 15 1/3 innings this spring.

He used his knee-buckling curve, mid-90s heat and changeup to post a 1.21 WHIP and fan 511 in 472 2/3 minor league innings, and tossed 5 1/3 scoreless innings in last year's NLCS. Big-time rookie sleeper.

i like this guy--- he gets an official endorsement of zubazpants -- plus he is eligible at RP.

could be sean marshall-esque

also...Juan Rivera who has always been a zubaz fave -- what you think about him this year? he gonna start? if he starts i think he does well.

I really like this guy as well and have been confused why he has flown under the radar... Well, I think I have an idea of why fantasy players have not been too excited about him-his projections aren't that great (see http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?pl ... position=P)- but I wonder why all the projection systems are down on him. To add to the stats you cited, he has accumulated a 3.44 ERA and 9.72 K/9 over 73 minor league starts. Is it generally expected that a pitcher will lose about 1/3 of their K/9 when they make the jump to the majors? And add 1/3 or 1/4 more BB/9?

If you want me to look at your team, post the team. Don't post a link to another site where the team is.
Have you given me all the info I need to judge your team? The number of teams in the league is a good start for the big overall questions.
Is your league H2H? Roto?
I don't know who's on your waivers. Don't just ask me who you should pick up. Give me names to choose from.
If you only have one team, post your team in your signature with the league parameters.
I don't know every single matchup for next week, so if you want me to choose a player for the following week and you think the matchups are important, tell me who they're facing.
There's more than one player with the same last name? Then spell out who you're talking about.
