Re: Carlos Lee VS Some Random DB
I'm hanging on to Lee right now, but that's only because I'm fortunate enough to have a plethora of other guys that really stink right now, so I always have someone else to drop. I'm trying to decide when to pack it in for the season and I'm sure right time for that was weeks ago. I'm collecting any...

Re: Eric Hinske?
Hinske seems pretty straightforward to me. He'll hit for some power, but the AVG will come way down.
I picked him up because, like the Braves, I don't care how good he really is, I need someone who is actually hitting the ball right now.

Re: Brett Cecil?
Sounds like you are good at grabbing spec saves off the wire, so I'd consider that McGhee deal, then drop Bergeson for Cecil.
A power hitting 2B for a couple of set-up men sounds like good value to me. It'll hurt to lose them, but I think it's worth it for McGhee.

Re: Rank OFs
I like Young and Gardner the best depending on team needs. I like Gardner on a relatively steals starved team. I like Young if you need a bit more power and can handle the AVG.
After that, it's:
Bruce
Jackson
Swisher

Re: Scherzer - can he be dropped without losing sleep
I'm not ready to drop him anytime soon. Maybe he just can't get the Twins out. I'm good at rationalizing.

Re: The Qualls "unavailable" conspiracy
Personally, I'd own all of those, except Motte and Hanrahan, over Gutierrez. I'd own him, but not over those guys.
Qualls stinks, but he's done something recently that Hoffman, Dotel, and Johnson haven't: convert his last 3 save opportunities.

Re: David Freese or Mark Teahan
Had this same choice today. I chose Freese. I've had Teahan too many times to possibly be able to get excited about him. Freese has hit at every level. He's been getting on base this year. He got his power bat going today. Maybe he gets hot. Freese offers an ever-so-slight whiff of upside. Teahen of...

Re: Alfredo Simon
It was probably a mistake, but I went ahead and cut Johnson. I only chose Simon b/c he's got SP eligibility, which is huge in our league (no generic "P" slots). I don't have any clue what might happen, but my team is going in the tank and I refuse to burn 2 roster spots chasing a temporary closer si...

Re: Hoffman and qualls?? Time to panic??
I don't know that there's much to do in your situation. Juan Gutierrez has value, but still not as much as Qualls. Hoffman is horrible right now and it may not get better, but there is no clear handcuff. In a league with no bench, you can't really go dropping closers for guys with unclear roles. You...

Re: Alfredo Simon
Ouch. I didn't know it was possible, but the BAL situation just got even more effed up. Johnson pitches a fairly clean 8th. The new kid nails down the save after giving up a pair of runs.
I think I'm done with BAL altogether.
