Re: You know what it is...

Sure thing brosef.

And I think Revere would work just fine. You're more likely to get in on his steal action than Kipnis's, anyway.

Re: You know what it is...

eh if anything you're a little light on steals, and with Quentin's knees and Davis's lungs, you might be better served with another outfielder instead of Kipnis on the bench. You won't be sitting Pedroia often. I'd consider a Jose Tabata/Austin Jackson/Cameron Maybin type guy. Or there's always Dee ...

Re: Jesus Montero as Catcher?

With his use as DH when he's not catching, I'd be surprised if he didn't rank among the top catchers in terms of plate appearances (assuming he qualifies for the position). That has a good part of his upside in it, to me. And looking at his career numbers, I think .280 is a bit conservative. His 75%...

Re: Annual "how's my team look?" post

Yeah, I also thought average would be the weakest point. Maybe a little light on speed as well.

Would you dump one of the Catchers for an average only guy (say a Ramon Hernandez)?
I might consider that, but Ramón is a little iffy to me because he's old and doesn't play ball games.

Re: Annual "how's my team look?" post

I like this team a lot. Keep an eye on that BA though; you can always punt Quentin if he keeps gimping around, or DL him if the White Sox give you the chance. Or Desmond for that matter. At MI, he looks like an Espinosa clone with about half the pop to me.

Ike Davis musings

Coccidioidomycosis. A name as difficult to pronounce as to make the diagnosis. That's why they just call it "Valley Fever." Just my two cents on the matter: this is a fungal disease that causes moldy lungs that is endemic to the SW US and parts of Mexico. Most natives or long-time residents to these...
