Rank Railheads have an amazing 113 points and a 5-point lead over The Fugs (Epic Beardmen Division) and panthers_freak (We’ve Got the Runs — Baseball Reasons) in the overall standings after another impressive week. The Railheads are well ahead of the pace for Games Started, but so are their nearest competitors in RCL 40, so they may hold on to the 56 points they are currently counting from the pitching categories. captainpyper (RCL 3) and Beardcrabs (The Gaylords — Conshellation Prize) are next with 106 points, followed by the Fantasy Razzball commissioner, Higgins (Gobias Industries  —  Cust Kayin’) at 105. Rounding out the top 10 are MattTruss223 (Rube Waddell’s Shiny Objects — Magnificent Mustachioed Men), Chris (Retro Vertigo — ECFBL), NYC Matthole (Ones are GOOD, right?), and Joba’s Trampoline (RCL 41), who skyrocketed from 62nd into a tie for 9th with a 14-point gain.

The 180 Games Started limit was reached Friday by Cellar Dwellers, who are actually sitting in 4th place in Matthew Berry is a Tool. With 4 starts, their total hit 183. They have recorded no saves for the season, so may be open to acquiring closers for their starting pitchers, who include Clayton Kershaw, Stephen Strasburg, and Justin Verlander. They are also in a tight stolen base fight, with 4 points to be gained by picking up 9 steals. There are more than 2 dozen teams that have already used at least 150 starts, so check your league standings page to possibly find a team with starting pitching to spare. The trade deadline is in 18 days (Noon ET, Friday, August 10), so get those offers in the mail.

On the other side of the ledger, there are 8 teams below the pace to reach the 1000 IP minimum. Any team that fails to reach 1000 innings pitched will be pushed to the bottom of the ERA and WHIP categories and score 1 point.

Expert League: Ryan Carey (Mastersball Carey) has a 16.5 point lead despite a 5.76 ERA and 1.39 WHIP for the week. Matt Kemp, Mark Teixeira, Mike Trout, and Melky Cabrera were MMMM Good, combining to hit .375 with 8 home runs and 20 RBI for Ryan, who scores 56 of his 96 points on the hitting side. Rudy dropped to 4th, behind Dalton Del Don (RotoWire Del Don) and Dash Davidson (Steamer Dome), after a second straight week with an ERA over 5. Grey hit .295 for the week and recorded an ERA of 2.82, but still languishes in 7th place.

Trades: There were 9 deals completed this week, and most involved a first place team. In Ones are GOOD, right?, leaders NYC Matthole were gifted Roy Halladay for Aroldis Chapman by Chicago Ashman. The Ashman has used 179 starts, so he should soon be done with his starters. In Epstein We Trust, 1st in RCL 39, picked up Miguel Cabrera and C.J. Wilson for Shin-Soo Choo, Freddie Freeman, Pedro Alvarez, and Glen Perkins. Joba’s Trampoline, the top team in RCL 41, is hoping R.A. Dickey can come close to matching his first half after acquiring him for Rafael Soriano. In a trade not involving a league leader, Speed Merchants traded Michael Morse and the struggling Jon Lester to Killa Beez for Carlos Beltran and James McDonald in Magnificent Mustachioed Men. You can find all the trades in the fantasy baseball forums. Look for the RCL under “Everything Else.”
