Spare me while I talk about my team for a moment. I almost missed out on my head to head playoffs. Another team grabbed the final spot one week before the postseason was to begin. Oh no, it was that mean old Mr. McGaragle, and he would have gotten away with it too, if it weren’t for that Medlen Kris (and that dumb dog!) Yes, Kris Medlen continued his brilliance last night pitching 7.0 innings, giving up just 1 ER with 13 Ks. I really want to take this moment to thank Grey, because I literally own Medlen everywhere and he’s the only reason I made the playoffs in one league, and the only reason I’m still contending in the others. K-Med is 8-1 with a 1.62 ERA and 0.96 WHIP with 102 Ks in 117 IP (9 starts including 2 complete games). Sure, he may be pitching slightly over his head right now, but Grey was all about the Medlen all year long. He’s given up just 4 runs in 8 starts since the beginning of August with 6 wins in that span. A lot of people point out when your predictions are wrong, so just making sure to give credit when credit is due. Word, Grey. You totally called that shizz. I also want to thank Kris Medlen. Thanks for being so awesome, Kris.

Here’s what else happened Friday night in fantasy baseball:

Craig Kimbrel – 1.0 IP, 3 Ks and his second win. It took him 10 pitches to strike out the side. Yessir.

Bryce Harper – 2-for-3 with his 19th homer. Medlen’s lone hiccup was solo shot to the young phenom. Bryce kind of slumped this summer, batting .232 in July and August, but he’s come on strong at just the right time with a .341 average in September and 3 HRs. Not too shabby. This kid might have a future in this league.

Jacob Turner – 7.0 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 3 Ks and his first win in Miami. Who would have thought he’d prefer Miami to Detroit? Go figure. In deeper or NL only leagues, Turner could be worth a flyer next week at the Mets.

Jose Iglesias – 0-for-2 with his first ML SB. The Red Sox future Star shortstop is batting .077 and was even dissed by Jerry Remy Wednesday night for showboating. Dead Sox, indeed.

Brett Lawrie – 2-for-3 with an RBI. Forget 2012. Just forget it. I’m drafting Brett Lawrie next year. If Jose Bautista and Edwin Encarnacion can do it, Lawrie can, too.  This kid’s gonna be a star! Ha cha cha!

Justin Verlander – 7.0 IP, 0 ER, 6 Ks and his 14th win. I saw in the ticker that Detroit won in a shutout and with no knowledge of the starters immediately knew Justin “I Hung Out With Kate Upton and She Smelled Just Like Cinnamon” Verlander was responsible. What I’m saying is, the guy is good.

Dewayne Wise – 1-for-4 with his 17th SB. Also, chipped in a run and a RBI. Grey’s been telling you to BUY him for weeks. I’m telling you to buy him. Seriously what is the hold up. If you were wise you’d pick up Wise. Sigh. Don’t judge me for that joke.

Chris Sale – 6.0 IP, 3 H, 0 ER, 5 Ks his 17th win and lowers his ERA to 2.78. More like Chris Cyale Young! Amirite? Well, he’s certainly gotta be in the conversation. Who else ya got?

David Price – 7.0 IP, 2 ER, 6 Ks and his 18th win versus the Yankees. Oh yeah, this guy. He’s pretty good, too isn’t he? I wonder if whenever Price strikes out a batter he goes cha-ching! in his head with the fist pump. I know I do. Because of price tags. You know, they make the cha-ching! sound? Ah, forget it.

Desmond Jennings – 2-for-5 with his 27th SB. It’s been somewhat of a disappointing season for Dez considering the big expectations, but honestly he should end the year with over 30 SB and that’s why you drafted him, right?

Fernando Rodney – 1.2 IP, 2 Ks and his 43rd save. 43! I had to restart my computer to make sure that wasn’t a screen glitch.

Alex Rodriguez – 1-for-3 with a 2-run HR (18). Batting .275 with 3 HRs and 8 RBIs since returning from the DL September 3. He is fueled by our hate. Someone buy an A-Rod team shirt.

Lucas Duda – 2-for-4 with his 14th HR. The Duda-bides. Seriously saves his best games for me because he has not been very good. Maybe because it’s Shomer Shabbos!

Josh Hamilton – 2-for-5 with his 42nd HR and 2 RBIs for a total of 123. After the game responded to questioning, “Oh, is it my contract year? I hadn’t noticed…”

Yu Darvish – 7.0 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 9 Ks. Another great start against another bad line up. Darvish probably isn’t worth where you drafted him, but you can’t deny that those 205 strikeouts sure are real pretty. Why Yu hating?

John Mayberry Jr. – 3-for-5 with 3 RBIs. The Phillies exploded all over the AAAstros, tallying 12 runs on 16 hits. Chase Utley and Ryan Howard had 2 hits a piece, and Jimmy Rollins and Dominic Brown homered. Philadelphia has now won 8 of their last 10 games, and as long as they’re hot, Mayberry Jr. could be a nice addition. He’s got an 8-game hitting streak and Grey told you to BUY him, too.

James McDonald – 3.2 IP, 4 ER. Old McDonald had a farm. But then he sold the farm right before the All Star break and moved to Mexico.

Starlin Castro – 2-for-4 with his 13th HR. As much as I like Starlin, he’ll likely be the first shortstop off the draft board next Spring. Too rich for my blood. Oh well, I’ll probably end up with Jose Iglesias.

Matt Dominguez – 2-for-4 with a run. Also known as the man who broke Aroldis Chapman. Dominguez has 3 homers in his past 8 games; if you need help at the corner I suppose you could do worse than Dominguez. He’s hitting right now!

Andrew Cashner – 3.2 IP, 10 H, 6 ER. UGH. I was streaming Cashner everywhere last night, too. #Fmfbbl. At Petco, a weak Rockies lineup, strikeout pitcher, Stream-O-Nator loved it. The stars were aligned, but the fantasy gods said, “No, not today.”

Everth Cabrera – 1-for-5 with his 31st steal. Grey told you to BUY this SAGNOF. I’d do what he says, and no one gets hurt.

Hunter Pence – 2-f0r-3 with his 21st HR and 4 RBIs. Finally has that first monster game in a Giants uniform. Unfortunately, he’s about a month and a half late.

Grant Balfour – 1.0 IP, K, and his 18th save. Looks like Grant is still the ninth inning man to own for the time being. Ryan Cook got the hold, but you could see in his eyes he really wanted that save. Maybe next game, Ryan.

Yoenis Cespedes – 1-for-3 with a 2-run HR (19). His name is Yoeniiiiiiis. I’m drafting him next yeeeeeaaar. Seriously, all the ‘perts said going into the season there was no way he’d hit over .250. Well hello, .287 batting average. He hits home runs, he steals bases, he hits for average, he gets injured. What’s not to love? The getting injured thing? Yeah, that does suck… Worth the risk!

Javier Lopez – 0.1 IP, 2 H in the ninth. Just when you thought it was safe to own a SF closer, Javy was pulled in favor of Sergio Romo after allowing 2 hits. It was a non-save situation to start, but worth mentioning here just for the laughs.

Jason Bourgeois – 2-for-3 with 2 SB. The Royals called him up yesterday and I don’t know if  they plan to play him everyday, but leading off with that speed? Uhh, yes please! Boy howdy, Bourgeois is a SAGNOF+1! If you have the need for speed I’d definitely grab Bourgeois if he starts seeing consistent playing time.

Kenley Jansen – He’s been out since August 18 and the Ronald Belisario/Brandon League duo has managed to tally just 3 saves combined. Way to capitalize on the opportunity fellas. If someone happened to drop Jansen now is your chance to scoop him up. Broken heart or no, Kenley’s a stud.

Join us next Saturday for another Friday recap, as fantasy baseball continues next week, all week long!
