Verlander pitcher of the week and looks like the Tigers didn’t get enough in the trade last July.
Houston must have the best coaches with both Verlander and Cole pitching fantastic.

Yea Yea Yea a great story in a 44 year old pitching a great game but give me Verlander on all my teams.

@OldNavy: That remains to be seen. Franklin Perez is very good, just been down with a lat issue, Jake Rogers is possibly the best defensive catcher in the minors, and Daz Cameron is a good all-around player. I’m not so sure I’d go as far as to say they took to little age, and cost considered.

They have a very good coaching abd player dev staff. Really talented people in that org.

Is Tyler O’Neill worthy of a stash in a deep 14-Team H2H OBP Keep 6 Forever League given the way he’s started the season in AAA? Seems like a call up is just an injury away which may or may not happen. Do you like him over Alford, Verdugo, or Jake Bauers?

    • Ralph Lifshitz

      Ralph Lifshitz says:

@RePete: They need injuries or to trade him. He looks great at the plate.

15 team, 4 player keeper league (2 hitters, 2 pitchers). Kluber is one of my keepers. I was just offered Jose Ramirez AND Quintana for Kluber. Seems like a no brainer, but my best keeper options would be Bauer, Pivetta, Quintana, Luis Castillo, Flaherty. So that’s why hesitate.

@sport: Does it kill your shot this year? I do like the trade down personally.

      • Sport says:

@Ralph Lifshitz: I have Rizzo, Dee Gordon, Gallo, Correa, Puig, Mazarra, Rendon, Rosarrio, Mancini, plus Acuna stashed. SP of Kluber, Bauer, Castillo, Pivetta, Morton, Rich Hill. Plus Doolittle, Allen, and Felipe as closers. I thought this team should win it all but a slow start hurt. The guy trying to get Kluber is pretty loaded. Thats another reason I’m hesitating. I can keep Correa and Acuna at the end of the year for my two keepers

You seem really excited for lucchesi in the pod but describe him as fringe in 12 team. What do you think his numbers end up being for the year? Thanks!

    • Ralph Lifshitz

      Ralph Lifshitz says:
      (link)

@I’m Keith Hernandez: I don’t play in a ton of 12 teams, and the ones I do play in (RCLs) don’t value a ton of starters, in fact I have Severino, Keuchel, and Paxton as my only starters. Just to give you some context.

      A sub-4 ERA, decent WHIP, and a K% around 25% seems right.

      • I'm Keith Hernandez says:

@Ralph Lifshitz: Thanks! I am looking for fifth starter after Ohtani, Gray, Morton and Corbin after trading Darvish/Alex Wood for Votto

  5. Play Ball says:

I own Acuna and as the prospect expert, I wanted to get your input as to the type of counting stats he is expected to put up when he does get the call.

I will be put in the position soon to have to drop a player when Schoop comes off the DL and I’m leaning towards Acuna, because we don’t know when he will get called up and if he meets expectations. My other drop option would be Buxton.

    • Ralph Lifshitz

      Ralph Lifshitz says:
      (link)

@Play Ball: That’s a tough call. I think Acuna will be better than Buxton, but it’s a big IF to gamble on.

      • Play Ball says:
        (link)

I agree. I think the best option is to try and do a 2 for 1 to get a quality player in return to make room on the roster instead of dropping someone.

Conservatively, if Acuna gets called up by the end of April, what do you think his counting stats would be?

        • Play Ball says:
          (link)

Some info on my roster might be helpful. I’m in a standard, season-long 5×5 roto that uses QS instead of W.

          1B Freeman/Abreu
          2B Schoop/Merrifield
          3B Moose
          SS Bregman
OF Trout, Springer, Ozuna, Buxton, Pollock, Acuna
SP Kluber, Severino, Bauer, Godley, Weaver, Corbin, Quintana
          RP Allen, Doolittle, Rivero, Knebel

I was thinking of packaging Acuna and Quintana and making an offer for Paxton or G. Cole. Fair offer? Would you trade away both for either Paxton or Cole?

          • Ralph Lifshitz

            Ralph Lifshitz says:
            (link)

@Play Ball: I wouldn’t trade both for either. I’d hold on Acuna and wouldn’t sell low-low on Q. Give it a couple weeks.

Any strong opinion on who will provide more value this year in a redraft league, Senzel or Torres?

    • Ralph Lifshitz

      Ralph Lifshitz says:
      (link)

@J.P.: Torres, he’s going to be part of a great offense and he makes things happen at the plate and on the bases. He should also be eligible at multiple positions.

    Ralph- dynasty trade question

This is a keep 10 mlb players, 5 minor leaguers (defined by rookie limits) OPS dynasty league.

I have an offer where’d I’d get Stanton and give Puig, Bichette, Tucker and Calhoun. I would be able to replenish the minor leaguers as there are some options out there, but to keep it simple that is the trade. I think I have a compete now roster, but depleting my minor leaguers makes me nervous- too much?

    Current team:
    C Molina
    1B Santana
    2B Lowrie (Odor)
    SS SEager
    3B Arenado
    IF Moustakis
    LF Braun
    CF Marte
    RF Puig
    OF Pirela (Kiermaier)
    UTIL Cruz
    UTIL Thames

    Bench
    Franco
    C Davis
    Gomez
    Grichuk

    Pitchers
    Scherzer
    Ray
    Hill
    Morton
    Wacha
    Ryu
    Velasuez
    Salazar
    Jansen
    Iglesias
    Boxberger
    Colome
    Bradley
    Swarzak

    Minors
    Bichette
    Tucker
    Gohara
    Calhoun
    Baez
    Ian Anderson
    Joey Wentz
    Hirano
    Lucchesi
AJ Minter (last three I move in and out depending on roster needs/ starts)

    • Ralph Lifshitz

      Ralph Lifshitz says:
      (link)

@Darrell Lester: Here’s the thing, you can’t trade an MLB outfielder. Sure, Pirela is hitting, but you need to upgrade at that spot. Lowrie is likely fine as a stop gap, particularly with Bo coming. I would not trade Bo and I would hold Puig and Tucker. That in all honesty will fill the holes of your team you just need to let it develop over the next 12 months. A year or so from now you’ll have a monster.

      • Darrell Lester says:

        @Ralph Lifshitz:

Thanks Ralph. I know I undervalue prospects. I tend to think of them as more fungible than they are, especially the top ones.

    Dynasty league

Who would you rather have Sixto Sanchez or Araon Sanchez?

How good is Sixto going to be?

@Espn writer looking for advice: Sixto baby. He’s really good. Easy 100 MPH fastball with bite, nasty slider, feel for a change. Nasty to LHB when he’s got the good stuff going.

Vlad might be up this year.
