This week’s subject was mentioned in Grey’s buy/sell column, and while I typically try to avoid doubling up on a Grey recommendation for my Creeper post, Grey only gave him a two sentence blurb. Consider the following several paragraphs positive reinforcement, a reminder, or an admonition. Please, blog, may I have some more?

The players listed below more than likely give you many of the feelings Dez Bryant’s mother experiences when thinking on his pending arrival to her home. She must think to herself “Oooooooh, maybe Dezzy will surprise me today with a new bracelet. Please, blog, may I have some more?

After surrendering 8 baserunners and 4 earned runs in 3 post-All Star break appearances, John Axford was removed from his spot as anchor of the bullpen by Brewers manager Ron Roenicke. Axford’s struggles began in June, when he posted a K/BB of 10/7 and coughed up 4 HR. Please, blog, may I have some more?

J.J. Hardy won’t run this town any longer. After hitting seven home runs and posting a tremendous .922 OPS in May, Hardy’s followed with an abysmal .498 OPS in June, and an awful .329 OPS in July. Yes, some of this variance is due to fluctuations in his BABIP and home run to fly ball rate, but when you have an OPS that low it is hard to simply dismiss it as bad luck. Looking at his name, I would certainly think it’s pronounced more like “fears,” but it’s actually pronounced “fires.” Infinitely cooler, and certainly appropriate for his immensely successful rookie campaign.
With a Brewers starting rotation dealing with an early season-ending injury to Chris Narveson, then Marco Estrada pulling his quad rounding first, Michael Fiers, the Brewers 2011 minor league pitcher of the year, finally got his call up after an inconsistent stint to start his 2012 campaign in AAA. Quick recap of last week’s Creeper:
When I wrote last week’s post, the Red Sox hadn’t yet set their rotation, leaving some of Adam Lind‘s value for this week up in the air. That’s now changed, and Boston’s throwing Clay Buchholz, Josh Beckett, and Aaron Cook against the Jays. Please, blog, may I have some more?

Andrew McCutchen went 3-for-4 with his 21st homer yesterday, and now has five homers in his last 4 games. On the year, he’s batting .371. For s’s and g’s, I went back to look at April comments about McCutchen when he had zero homers and only 7 RBIs through the first month. Please, blog, may I have some more?

I have a small leather-bound notepad on me at all times, always there for the moments of divine inspiration to be written, recorded, and later used as material for my posts here at Razzball. I can never quite remember when or why I wrote each tidbit, though I’m pretty sure about the steps I followed to get ink on the paper. Please, blog, may I have some more?

Hey, I’m Higgins and I’m going to be posting updates about our Fantasy Razzball leagues. If you are not familiar with Fantasy Razzball, it is a league format where us truly masochistic fantasy baseballers try to build the worst fantasy baseball team possible. Please, blog, may I have some more?

It’s halfway through the season so it’s time to share how well (or poorly) we’re doing in our various fantasy baseball expert leagues. Rather than rehash good/bad draft picks (you can see that in our last update), I’ve just noted what place we’re in, who’s in 1st/last, a twittersque summary of how each team is doing, and then, to show we’re good sports, some praise (and unintentional jinxing) to the current 1st place teams.
