We could spread Grey's ice-cream explanation around the internet - it could become part of baseball's mythological arcana. Howard ate two gallons of ice cream, became sick with a 104 degree fever, was hospitalized overnight, released in time to pinch hit a 3 run moonshot,(which would have been even more dramatic if Madson didn't blow the save.), ate another gallon of ice cream, and wound up back in the hospital. Thought for a sec that i had to buy another daquiri before i could read your daily run-down. Or that the Feds had closed down shop alleged involvement with the SDS years ago. Or that you sold out to go to ESPN, and was going to perform marriages and throw out the first pitch in MLB, a la Berry.

I have a feeling that the Mets may do with Beltran as they did with Reyes - keep playing him until his injury exacerbates to the point that he will be AWOL for a month or more. And yeah, the same thought regarding CC - if you are taken out in the 1st inning, there is usually something wrong. La de da, La de da. All I can think of is that the Yankee organization is fractured, and I'm not sure who actually is making decisions these days.

Do you trust the wisdom of Secret Stash concerning Big Floppy?

Thanks, again, but don't confuse me any more! (appropriate emoticom.)

@ABell: Cost me a point for ERA as well. Kemp probably should have caught it, but I can see how they would call it a double. Broxton just wasn't very sharp last night.

@Grey: Quiet today, so I'll ask another - you trusting Smoltz in his 1st start back @ WAS?

I'm debating activating him in place of Slowey, who scares me a bit with his "sore side"... sounds like an oblique, no? Plus, Slowey's at STL, a pretty good offense.

Or I could start both Soria and Howell...

@Grey: Yeah, I know. Problem is, can't get fair value for either right now. A team punting saves has Mo on the block and everyone's chasing him.

@Grey: Last week I asked about starting Soria vs. JP Howell in an AL Only 5x5, and followed your suggestion of Soria. So, as a follow-up - With glaring evidence of KC's general ineptitude and Howell's recent use by Maddon, is it Howell over Soria this week? Thanks...
