@Grey: @Steve: @Wilsonian: file this under "i thought i had seen everything ". how's this for a dirt bag move ? in my h2h money league , we have reached the semi-finals . money to be split ...40/30/20/10 . apparently , because the season is too long , it was proposed to "chop" the pot ... meaning each would receive 25 % of the prize money . of course , i refused . so the others agreed to a 3 way split of the prize money , minus my winnings . now , comes this posting on the league's message board " , from a manager in the other bracket : "do you want me to sit anyone or vice versa so that the strongest team makes it to the end just in case AMB2 (my team) wins this round?" of course , i expressed my views about collusion and cheating . this was his response in a follow-up posting : "you should just take the 25% so we don't have to play anymore" .

@Grey: I still have serious man-love for Joyce because of how sick he was for so much of the season, so am having trouble dropping him despite the fact he has been mediocre for a while and doesn’t start every day (when every start I can get is essential right now).
I have Johnny Damon, Jon Jay, Nick Evans, Alex Presley, Juan Rivera, Reimold, Trout and a whole bunch of players of that ilk on the waiver wire.
Worth dropping Joyce for one of them? If yes, which do you prefer?

Btw – I am set in runs and average (and probably HR and Steals too), probably can’t gain or lose points. I really just care about RBI.

Have just noticed that of the first 8 guys I drafted in my H2H league this year, only 3 are still on my team.

When the other 5 guys are Hanley, Heyward, Morneau, Krispie and Hill, it’s not so hard to believe.

But I’m in the semis. Now *that’s* hard to believe.

@Steve: Definitely, I would be happy to see him voted MVP. I could care less if Ellsbury or Granderson recorded a higher WAR, especially because it seems that translating WAR between batters and pitchers seems problematic. But mostly because it's entertainment, which people (myself included) often forget, and it would be a nice change of pace for a pitcher to get the MVP. He's certainly been the MVP for my team.

Verlander will be gyped out of the MVP award because of “sabermetric zombies” and their new fangled stats… like WHIP?

And OPS “is like mixing sand with gasoline.”

And to really drive home his point, he likens Verlander to Pedro, who received the CY but not MVP in 1999. First of all, this was surely not the fault of “sabermetric zombies,” and second, a stat like WAR, which he derides, would have actually favored giving Pedro the MVP (his WAR was like 3 higher than Pudge’s).

I really need to stop reading these kinds of articles.
