It’s funny that, for all the talk of Japanese pitchers, the best one to come over in the last 10+ years was Colby Lewis.

Lofty comps, yes, but I’m not sure we have ever seen a player with his talent coming over from japan. I didn’t say he would be those pitchers I said that’s the potential- hence the whole part where I discuss whether or not he attains the potential will depend on a number of factors, but the potential is almost undeniably there.

And, quite frankly, Kuroda isn’t fit to carry darvish’s jock strap in terms of raw stuff.

Also, I think you should go back and compare darvish’s stats in japan to Colby lewis’s- I think you are a bit off base lumping them together.

I’m not meaning to call anyone out- I am simply answering fair points with fair points of my own.

Greinke/Latos are two pretty lofty comps.

I’m thinkin Lewis/Kuroda until I see otherwise. Lewis was a god in Japan too. But bring him back to the states, and he’s merely a nice SP 3/4 type.

I’d put Darvish at something like 4.00/1.22/180 if he comes over.

hope he comes in as a draftable pitcher and not a waiver wire pick-up .
would definitely draft him as my #1 pitcher … and well before the likes
of c.c. or beckett .
think he’ll pan out to be a top 5 or 6 sp .
should the blue jays acquire him , they would be my pick to win the
AL east .

Hey guys. I didn’t put this in my piece because I have no evidence to back it up, but I think 2 dark horse teams are the Colorado Rockies and the Florida Marlins.

The Marlins are opening a new brand, a new stadium and a new manager (Ozzie). They will make some big splashes to try to put butts in the seats.

For the Rockies, they have money and they have a need at SP.

Just food for thought.

I don’t think the Yankees will pay for a Japanese pitcher again. They’ve been burned too many times, and they barely dodged a bullet with Dice-BB.
