Don't be shellfish...Share on FacebookTweet about this on TwitterShare on Google+

If you’re a long time reader of Razzball, you’ve seen this fantasy baseball trade protest before.  In that case, go to the comments and ask a team question.  If you’re new, then go to the comments and ask a team question and maybe you come back afterwards and read this post for the first time.  Because we here at Razzball we don’t believe in vetoing a fantasy baseball trade, but we do fully support passive-aggressive, sarcastic belittling.  If someone in your league completed a trade that makes you wish they’d walk into oncoming traffic, you’re in luck!   Here’s a Mad Libs-type tirade to post in your league’s messageboard because when met with pettiness, you should retaliate with more pettiness.   Simply copy the below and fill in the appropriate words.  You may use this post to antagonize your closest friends, enemies or frenemies with the express written consent of Razzball.com.  Also, feel free to post your version in the comments.

To Those That Passed That (adjective) Trade,

When I saw the trade of (Player(s) Traded Away) for (Player(s) Received), I contemplated vetoing the trade, but even one trade veto can have a domino effect and before you know it every trade is being vetoed.  Instead, I decided to take the high road and just voice my disagreement on this message board.  Though I do sometimes question my leaguemates’ ability to read something that isn’t scribbled in crayons. On the bright side, you two (plural derogatory name) who were involved in the trade can use this post to practice your reading comprehension.   It’s not too late for that GED!

Since no one has the courtesy to respond to my trade offers, I figured you two were busy hanging out with your significant others. You know, your mothers. “No, Mom, I have friends.  The phone just rang the other day.  Now please pass the Miracle Whip.  Your chicken salad is dry.”  Or maybe you were busy making up excuses for walking in on your sister while she’s showering. “Oh, I’m sorry, I didn’t hear the water running.”  Or maybe you two were busy (verb) each other in your (adjective) (body part).

It’s obviously your strategic prerogative to make any trades you want, as it’s my prerogative to wish you both harm. So, douchetards, I have an idea. Rather than digging through dumpsters for discarded porno mags, how about you two (plural derogatory name) get together and punch each other in the face?

The Guy Who Is Still Going To Beat Both Of You,

P.S. Anyone need a closer?

    @Grey,

    Jog with me for a second…

    Before yesterday’s news that Downs’ injury was not that bad, I dropped Downs (instead of Cashner) for Samardzija and it worked out well.

    After watching Thayer work a clean 9th last night, I figured I’d hold Cashner for at least another day to see how the Padres deal with the next save opp–hedging my bets with the knowledge that I can likely drop Cashner for Downs tomorrow with my waiver claim, or for Thayer at a second’s notice.

    I am now considering dropping Cashner for Jarrod Parker (whose start against Toronto was moved back to today) and starting him later on. If he has a bad day today I could then drop him for Thayer at any moment OR conditionally drop him for Downs tomorrow using my waiver claim. (And if Parker has a great day today then there’s no bad move)

    How do you feel about that? (I guess it comes down to how much faith you have in Cashner, plus where you see the value of Thayer/Downs in the near future) Thank you, o wise one!

    • chunk says:

      @Chillmodious, Can you claim someone you dropped? My yahoo league makes someone you drop clear waivers before adding them again.

      • Chillmodious says:
        (link)

        @chunk, Same thing with me (ESPN). You can’t just drop someone then pick them up same day. I dropped Downs yesterday, he clears waivers tonight, so I would use my waiver claim to conditionally add him as soon as he clears (for tomorrow).

      @Chillmodious, I’d drop Thayer before Cashner… Thayer was working because Cashner was tired from the day before…. In the end, it’s still the Padres, don’t speculate on two of them…

      • Chillmodious says:
        (link)

        @Grey, Oops, replied in the wrong string.

        I don’t have Thayer; I have Cashner. But the question had more to do with Jarrod Parker.

        Basically: do I drop Cashner for Parker (to start today), and then drop Parker tomorrow for Downs?

    I’m trading LaHair & David Robertson for Nelson Cruz

  6. What a week to go on vacation from Fantasy land…Closer going down like cheap hookers. I got left out in the cold on the current run, but have a ton of MR’s just cloggin up slots…like me to cheap hookers.

    With an innings limit of 1250 I am tempted to keep most of them as the K to inning rate is still valuable, but is it aiiight to cut bait with any of these:
    Addison Reed, Sergio Romo, Vinnie Pestano?

    Nicely Kenley moved into closer roll, but Heath Bell shit himself so still need saves, what a mess…..

    Do people check their teams on vacation? I make it a point not too and actually moved up to 2nd place, but god I missed out on a lot.

    Looking to upgrade at SS — thinking about offering a SP for Starlin Castro since I’m doing ok with pitching. Who would be a fair offer? My pitchers are: Gio, Anibal Sanchez, Worley, David Price, Lynn, Beckett, Kuroda & Nova.

    • Grey

      Grey says:
      (link)

      @BERK, Fair would be Gio, Anibal or Price… I’d try Beckett and Lynn…

      • BERK says:
        (link)

        @Grey, Thanks, I’ll try it. If he declines I’ll follow up with an offer of Sanchez, sad as I’ll be to lose my dose of Anibalic steroids.

        • Hunter says:
          (link)

          @BERK, maybe this is just the leagues that I was in, but Starlin was consistently drafted in the 40s or 50s overall. And he has done nothing since then to drop his stock.

          I dunno if you’ll be able to get him for Anibal, Gio, or Price, straight up, because usually the guys who drafted Starlin so high are the ones who really believed in him and his skill set.

          • BERK says:
            (link)

            @Hunter, Yeah, you might be right. The owner of Starlin is hurting with his SP at the moment (Hamels suspended, Sale to the bullpen) so maybe I can pry Castro away. I wonder what other SS are worth targeting with my SP? I’m so sick of Ian Desmond.

            • Hunter says:
              (link)

              @BERK, Yeah, I’m not saying don’t try it, but I’m one of those Castro owners, and I wouldn’t accept that straight up. Just wanted to prepare you. But if the dude needs SP, who knows?

    Carlos Gonzalez for Jaime Garcia and Joe Saunders just went through in my league.

    I didn’t veto, but I seriously thought about the possibility of considering maybe vetoeing.

    And yes, after this week I very much need a closer.

    • Grey

      @blairtch, That’s a hideous trade…

    • Hunter says:
      (link)

      @blairtch, I always hate those trades, because I always kick myself for not taking advantage of such stupidity first.

      • blairtch says:
        (link)

        @Hunter,

        SO right. It’s the fact that I didn’t get CarGo for peanuts that is the most upsetting.

    • dingbat says:
      (link)

      @blairtch, That’s really nauseating. Swisher for Saunders just went down in my league, but your trade is much, much worse. What is it about Saunders that makes people want to give up players of value for him? Didn’t people learn from the Diamondbacks?

    • @blairtch, Are you sure that wasn’t a drunken mistake trade, because that is one of the worst I have seen.

      • blairtch says:
        (link)

        @Shea Sera Sera,

        I will not support his CarGo trade but I will defend with my life his RIGHT to trade him.

        Player A’s outfield consisted of Kemp, Holliday and CarGo. The best in the league, but he lacked depth at pitching. He must have thought, as many dumb people are wont to think, “Hey, my OF is way too good! I better trade one of my best players for some pitching! A-DURR!”

        He must have accepted the first offer he got? I don’t know. But I know he then complained he was bombarded with Kemp offers, probably people trying to take advantage.

        I offered him Gallardo, Hanson and Bruce for Kemp and he turned me down.

        Maybe he just loves the jaim-ster?

        • @blairtch, I would actually make that Kemp deal…

    • bean says:
      (link)

      @blairtch, I can’t believe that they didnt ask around for more from other owners. How does he strike on those two pitchers and say he feels good.

      If I was you I would target the CarGo owner for another trade before the other owners do.

      • chata says:
        (link)

    Hi Grey,

    Are you buying the manager’s comments that Bell will be back closing soon? I recently picked up Cishek but I’m really fine in saves with plenty of closers. Love the K, whip, era potential in addition to possible saves. But I would also love to pick up A. Craig while he’s still available as he fills my (non-sexual) needs in a number of ways. Would you drop Cishek at this time under these circumstances?

    • Grey

      Grey says:
      (link)

      @mhfella, Yeah, I think Bell will be at some point… But may not be for two months… I’d hold Cishek for saves, but if you need Craig go for it…

  10. Hunter says:
    (link)

    I drafted Halladay but his peripherals aren’t inspiring me. I mean, I don’t think hes a steaming pile of crap, but an xFIP and SIERA in the mid 3s, along with a reduced velocity, increased walk rate, and decreased K rate isn’t inspiring. Crazy to try to sell now and get two good pitchers back, which I need anyway?

    • @Hunter, I think it is too early to give up on Halladay, watched last night and he dominated, Mets got some lucky runs think end of season he is probably second best behind Kershaw in NL.

      • Hunter says:
        (link)

        @Shea Sera Sera, I watched too and it seemed like he had trouble consistently throwing first pitch strikes (to his standards) a bit of trouble locating too. His best pitch seemed to be his curve, but it looked like he was throwing it a lot…like, a lot more than I remember from last year. Just spitballing, but it seemed like his fastballs weren’t as effective as they used to be so he was throwing the fastballs only as often as he had to to set up the devastating curve….but how sustainable is pitching off a mediocre fastball and devastating curve going to be? He’ll still be good, but not phenomenal 2 ERA, 8-9 K/9 good.

        I dunno. My eye test tells me he doesn’t look as good as last year, the peripherals say he isn’t either…the problem is if a wait another month or two to be sure, I’ll have lost my opportunity to sell him for market price.

        • @Hunter, All fair, and it was the mets after all. I just thought he was toying with some of them over using the curve, but if the peripherals are down maybe there is something more too it….

          Who would you look to get in return though?

          • Hunter says:
            (link)

            @Shea Sera Sera, Seeing if I can get Shields and Latos from a Phillies fan in our league who is disgruntled about his team. Fair trade?

    After a basketball league a couple years back where EVERY trade was vetoed just cuz ppl hate life……. I decided every league should be commish only. Im usually commish and most my leaguemates trust my views and wat not, so i put in every league at the beginning of the season “all trades final so think before you hit accept” or something of that extent. Since then weve had no problems. Then ppl are cautious to make dumb trades since they know its final.

    you are all muscles and mush, a truly lamentable spectacle, a baby with whiskers, a rabbit with the frame of an auroch, a feeble and preposterous caricature of man, in short, a mountebank.

    or
    you are botched and ridiculous, few other animals are so stupid or cowardly. The commonest yellow dog has far sharper senses and is infinitely more courageous, not to say more honest and dependable. The ants and bees are, in many ways, far more intelligent and ingenious. The lion is more beautiful, more dignified, more majestic; the antelope is swifter and more graceful. The ordinary house cat is cleaner. The horse, foamed by labor, has a better smell. The gorilla is kinder to children and more faithful to his wife. The ox and the ass are more industrious and serene. You are a mountebank.

    @Grey: So as usual, I punted catcher in the draft (16 team H2H) and have been ignoring your advice to “set it and forget”. Instead I decided I’d try to chase production between guys like Ellis, Hundley, Hernandez, etc….but Wilson Ramos just got dropped. He’s been performing poorly and I don’t have room to store him (injuries) and wait for him to come around…so should I stick to one of “those guys” or just pick up and plug in Ramos and hope he comes to life?

    • Grey

      Grey says:

    fun story… A trade was vetoed in my league:

    Kemp/R. Weeks/Nova for Hamels/Pedroia

    I was one of the people who voted against the trade. I quickly looked at it and thought it was unfair and generally stupid to trade Kemp.

    It has created a backlash where the league has two factions… one group that wanted the veto and one that thinks trades should never be veto’d unless collusion is suspected.

    It has made the league very un-enjoyable. Fights, more vetos, and general disarray has followed.

    My advice is to really think about whether you want to deal with that all season long before you vote against a trade.

    • Wilsonian says:
      (link)

      @mrobs, that’s why I play in leagues that don’t allow vetoes. You can complain to the commish and he checks it out. I HATE HATE HATE vetoes with a passion. That shouldn’t be vetoed. The Kemp owner should be stoned, tarred, and feathered, but no veto. No vetoed trade ever does anything positive for a league (absent collusion, of course).

      • mrobs says:
        (link)

        @Wilsonian, Agreed. I totally regret voting against… and will adjust rules for next season to do away with “vote against this trade” option.

        • Wilsonian says:
          (link)

          @mrobs, yeah, because looking at it, I can see a guy who has a solid OF, and a really shitty 2B and SP and thinks “maybe this is the best I can do, Hamels is really good and Pedroia is a guaranteed top 4 2B — this will really help my team.” I wouldn’t do that deal in a million years, but it doesn’t even sniff at collusion.

          I’d definitely recommend using the commish vote. It works out really well and we don’t have any bitch fests in my leagues. It has also resulted in very fair trading. Both sides always appear to be happy, and the league doesn’t say much other than the occasional “damn, I wish I woulda made an offer like that.” And these are two very distinct leagues, both keepers, one 8 teams and the other 16.

    • Grey

      Grey says:
      (link)

      Trade isn’t even that bad…

      • mrobs says:
        (link)

        @Grey, Agreed… I think it was a knee jerk reaction… the general consensus at the time, was that weeks could end up putting up similar stats to pedroia… even if he only plays 130 games. Therefore, it’s boils down to Hamels for Kemp/Nova.

        Once all the fighting cooled down, it was agreed that if both guys still wanted to make the deal, the rest of the league would not veto.

        The kemp owner decided to back out at that point :)

        • Tony says:
          (link)

          @mrobs, i agree with you grey, i looked at it and people are jumping all over it like its crazy lopsided. I see it as fairly balanced, weeks is batting under .200, Kemps hitting out of his mind, Nova’s trash, and the law of averages says kemps in line for a big time slump or at least ALOT of 1-4 type nights. People get wayyyyy to caught up in a monsterous hot start. Just remember players don’t hit .700 all year (i know thats an exaggeration). He’s bound to come down and level out somewhat.

    [wait for this post to appear in league where I traded Hammel for Napoli]

    Think you missed my S1W comment in the last entry:

    Christina is the most clueless person to ever play the game, no? I mean, it was moronic to tell her that they were sending a couple of votes her way just in case Troy played an idol, but even the dimmest of bulbs could connect those dots. Yet there she was, walking around like, “Yeah, a couple votes are coming my way, but they’re not voting me out.”

    Kat going home was one of the funniest “tribe has spoken” moments in a long time. I think I’m even going to watch The Ponderosa to see if she’s as brilliant there.

    • Wake Up says:
      (link)

      @Awesomus Maximus, Let me guess. You play in a league with mauledbypandas?

      • Awesomus Maximus

        Awesomus Maximus says:
        (link)

        @Wake Up, Ha! Just read his post above. Funny thing is, I offered a better/proven SP, but the other guy wanted Hammel. Guess he’s a weirdo who puts stock in a 9 K/9 (which our league counts), 5 QS in 6 starts (which our league counts), and not giving up more than 2 ER in any of his starts (including starts @NYY and @Bos).

        Meanwhile, Napoli has as many Ks (which we count) as hits + walks, and hasn’t gone deep in two weeks. I don’t think Napoli is as bad as the past two weeks, but I also don’t think he’s as good as his first three weeks.

        • Wake Up says:
          (link)

          @Awesomus Maximus, So, you got Hammel? Or, you just picked up Napoli off of the wire?

          Nice spin. You do PR, too? Ha, I’m not buying it, but congrats on the win. Definitely not in the realm of the veto, but I wouldn’t be surprised if you received a form letter or two.(See above post by Grey)…

          • Awesomus Maximus

            Awesomus Maximus says:
            (link)

            @Wake Up, So… a player can’t lose/gain value based on their performance during the season? A guy off the wire can only be worth a guy off the wire? A guy who was overhyped and drafted well before his value (and is playing that way) still demands the false value he started the season with? If that’s the case, then I suppose I should write up a form letter for Mauling Pandas’ trade of Jesus Montero (ADP 183.4) for Ichiro (ADP 86.3).

            Or maybe we’re adults playing a silly game for Ss and Gs, and it’s not really that big of a deal. I’m more comfortable with that.

            • Wake Up says:
              (link)

              @Awesomus Maximus, Love the fire. I’m not making a big deal at all and, like I said, it’s not even in the realm of the veto. I was merely suggesting that I enjoyed your spin. Talking up Hammel so much (even though you some how were able to let him go) and downplaying Napoli so much, but yet you were the one getting Napoli. It was amusing to me. Sounds like you’ve been taking some heat in that league. Also, it sounds like you were expecting to…..(I have no dog in this fight…just offering my opinion, which is what I assume you were asking for by posting it here)…

              • Awesomus Maximus

                Awesomus Maximus says:
                (link)

                @Wake Up, Heheh… no, I didn’t mean to suggest that you were making a big deal out of it. Actually, no one is making a big deal out of it, I haven’t taken any heat.

                As for my “spin,” I don’t know what to tell you. I’m honestly not all that excited to have Napoli. I expect him to be worth Hammel, and better than the catcher I dropped (Mesoraco), but I don’t expect him to put up ’11 playoff numbers and this be the steal of the century.

                None of it matters anway… they guy I traded with has Hamilton, so he can trade off all of his bats and just suffer with Josh’s 4 HR a night. Jeezus…

    Hey Grey , loved the thinly veiled reference to your fav singer in the previous post …..Don Kenley , good one
    I have a question about the catcher strategy of set and forget , having fessed up that you dropped Doumit are you thinking of going back or sticking with Ellis??

    • Grey

      Grey says:
      (link)

      @d2bnz, Ha… Thanks! I dropped Ellis already… Dropped him the day after I picked him up… Have Ruiz now…

  78. Chillmodious says:
    (link)

    Hallelujah!! My Dread Pirate finally set sail over the outfield wall. I think I heard him say “Pujols ain’t got nothing on me” as he rounded third.

      Grey says:
      (link)

      @Chillmodious, Finally!

      • Chillmodious says:
        (link)

        @Grey, Dude supposedly loses 8 lbs with a stomach virus, then cranks one to center in his first game back. Go figure.

    • Mrobs says:
      (link)

      @Chillmodious, Amen!!

  79. Tony says:
    (link)

    Ivan Nova is frustrating as hell to own, i swore last inning the meltdown was coming, and then he gets out of it, the guy cruises for 4-5 innings usually then all of a sudden blows up, but of course since I bench him in 3 leagues he’ll throw a gem tonight, mother effer.

    • Grey

      Grey says:
      (link)

      @Tony, Surprised you own him…

  80. TheBravesWear Prado says:

    Sit or start Minor @STL this week?

    • Grey

      Grey says:

      @TheBravesWear Prado, Gotta sit him in roto until he shows something…

  81. Jon says:

    Setting my pitching rotation for the week… sit or start?

    Capuano vs. COL Fri
    Milone vs. DET Sat
    Cahill vs. SF Sat
    Arrieta vs. TB Sun

    Thanks!

    • Grey

      Grey says:
      (link)

      Start all except Arrieta…

  82. Steve says:
    (link)

    Of course I dropped Rios on one team yesterday. Today he wakes up.

    • Grey

      Grey says:
      (link)

      Yeah, I still got him so there’s that…

      • Steve says:
        (link)

        @Grey, Yeah, still have him in the RCL.

        And now that I mention it, I did hear someone sobbing ‘Longo… Longo… ‘ at Jersey Boys last night. That was you, right?

        • Grey

          Grey says:
          (link)

          @Steve, Yeah, that was me… Friggin’ Longo…

  83. chunk says:

    Davis is full of negative body language. I don’t think he believes in himself. Can I drop him for an optimistic Robot? 16 teams for my CI, waiting on Howard So I’m going week to week….

    • Grey

      Grey says:
      (link)

      @chunk, Ha… I’d prefer Davis…

  84. Wilsonian says:
    (link)

      (link)

      @Wilsonian, What happened?

      • Wilsonian says:
        (link)

        @Grey, No clue. Just saw it on Rotoinfo that he left and Punto replaced him. Sucks. He was just starting to take.

      • 2 Cups 1 Braun says:
        (link)

        @Grey, Best night I have seen from a player in awhile. Usually crap gets dumped on me like Biff, BTF II style yearly from someone like Andrew Jones playing a streamer role but tonight, my opponents stay thirsty as I drink from the cup of life.

        • Grey

          Grey says:
          (link)

          @2 Cups 1 Braun, Yeah, totally bonkers…

  86. paulzone says:
    (link)

    Would you offer Lahair/Adams, Texeira/Adams or neither for CJ Wilson?

    I can find another Holds guy for Adams. Dude has verlander, kershaw, wilson, greinke, zimmerman, kuroda.

    my staff: latos, morrow, hudson (dl), anibal, wainwright…lost sale in my rotation…need another pitcher (best on ww: smyly, nolasco, floyd)…

    thanks.

    • Grey

      Grey says:
      (link)

      @paulzone, LaHair…

  87. Paul Wilson says:
    (link)

    Thank you Grey, I needed a little ice on the noggin after this one today whilst I was at work: Jared Weaver for Matt Moore, Dave Robertson and Josh Hamilton… in a keeper league!

    Now check it, check it out, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, that’s what he said
    Then I came back and just fucked up his head.

    • Grey

      Grey says:
      (link)

      @Paul Wilson, Huh?

      • Prezii says:
        (link)

        @Paul Wilson, you traded that for weaver? =\

  88. Turk Wendell says:
    (link)

    I’m thinking about picking up Peacock in case he’s called up for Ross’s next start (Thurs?). Worth dropping Masterson or Milone for Peacock?

    For your enjoyment-
    So the following trade was pending in one of my leagues couple days ago:

    Team A gets
    Corey Hart, Daniel Hudson, Tim Hudson, and Jayson Werth

    Team B gets
    Cuddyer, Adam Jones, and Bass

    I think this is ridiculous, but whatever… But then Werth of course gets hurt and dude receiving him asks for the trade to be cancelled. Commish says no. Team A owner then offers to “lend” Torii to the other guy for 1 month at which point he’ll have to send him back.

    What a mess.

    I’m telling the second guy to hang on to Torii because this whole thing couldn’t be more messed up and I like messy endings…

    I love this game

    • Grey

      Grey says:
      (link)

      @Turk Wendell, Milone… That trade is bad… Then the rest is insane…

  89. Anthony says:
    (link)

    I just lost Werth and could use a little hitting help now. I don’t really care a lot about closers, but I still have three more. It’s a 12 team, H2H most categories league, veeeery large rosters, about 35 men deep. Here’s the offer..

    Send Dunn/Werth/Nathan.
    Receive Markakis/Swisher/Rafael Soriano.

    Thanks so much man.

    • Grey

  92. fitz says:
    (link)

    Holy!!

  93. fitz says:
    (link)

    Hamilton is running so hot right now (obviously). He is hitting .406 it’s insane to think Ted Williams batted .406 for an entire season.

    • Grey

      Grey says:
      (link)

      @fitz, Yeah, totally true…

    • Prezii says:
      (link)

      @fitz, when players ate hotdogs and drank beer during gamess… Oh wait, they still do that in boston!

      • MarcusJ says:

    Freddie Freeman For Panda? 10 team league, 8 keepers per year (regardless of round), ops, Ks against, xbh, walks, hrs, rbis, r, avg, sb

    LaHair would take over at 1st base for Freeman. Currently have Aramis/Moustakas taking the load at 3B.

    Thanks Grey.

    • Grey

      Grey says:
      (link)

      I’d take Freeman…

      • Kevin says:
        (link)

        @Grey, Even though I’d be able to keep Panda for years to come?

        • Grey

          Grey says:
          (link)

          @Kevin, Freeman doesn’t look as far off from Panda… 20-ish homers, decent average…

  104. Steve says:
    (link)

    You stupid Braves. Only about three innings too late.

    • Grey

      Grey says:
      (link)

      @Steve, Interesting… But his stuff is nasty…

  105. Rodger-Dodger says:

    And Rauch gets the save! Yeah!!

    • Grey

      (link)

      @Rodger-Dodger, Yeah, saw that…

      • stumanji says:
        (link)

        @Grey, I wouldn’t read too much into it. Frank Frank pitched a perfect 9th on like 5 pitches yesterday.

  106. knighttown says:
    (link)

    Buying low on Johnson? FIP looks pretty decent.

    My Parra and Marshall for his Harper and J. Johnson.

    Where abouts would you have Harper on your OF list now that he seems to be here for the long term?

    • Grey

      Grey says:
      (link)

      @knighttown, That trade looks solid… Harper’s a third OF if lots of name value.

  107. knighttown says:
    (link)

    Start Capuano at home against the Rocks? I’m about 20IP over.

    • Grey

      Grey says:
      (link)

      @knighttown, Yup

  108. Wilsonian says:
    (link)

    JP or Avila? Looks like Avila is nursing an injury that’ll keep him out for a few games.

    • Grey

      @Wilsonian, JP

    18/33 – 10R – 6HR – 17RBI – 1SB – .545AVG

    No complaining from me today.

    • Grey

      Grey says:
      (link)

      @Steve, You’ll find a way to complain. Emoticon.

      • Steve says:
        (link)

        @Grey, That’s true. I own Broxton in one league so you may only have to wait a few minutes…

        • Grey

          Grey says:
          (link)

          @Steve, There ya go!

          • Steve says:
            (link)

            @Grey, Clean as a whistle. Never doubted him for a moment.

  111. Steve says:
    (link)

    Anyone heard anything on Middlebrooks? Just day-to-day?

    • Howard says:
      (link)

      @Steve, You know how hamstrings are. I’m sure he’ll heal faster than Big Puma.

    • Grey

      Grey says:
      (link)

      @Steve, Day to day thing…

  112. Howard says:
    (link)

    @Grey How do you feel about Cruz these days? #2OF? Nice night by his teammate!

    • Howard says:
      (link)

      @Howard, actually I should ask, who do you prefer Cruz or Pacman?

    • Grey

      Grey says:
      (link)

      @Howard, I prefer Jones… I like Cruz though… He’ll get hot at some point…

  113. Scott Daimond’s out pitch is The Diamond Cutter taught to him from Diamond Dallas Page

      Grey says:
      (link)

      @Mr Baseball, Ha!

  114. Fenst says:
    (link)

    Have been struggling in a 16 espn standard league. Injuries have really hurt me in the last few weeks (weekly lineups set on Sunday) so the Werth injury really killed me as I don’t have a healthy backup batter right now.

    Lost out on some waiver claims that has much stuck with Chacin still but dropping him for a hitter. There really isn’t much out there are guys like Beckham, Betemit, Nix are the top guys in FA. Bourjos is also there who I already dropped after his awful start and the call up of Trout.

    Any guys going to see some at bats over the next week or so until I can at least get Reimold back in the lineup. I’m really struggling for a decent option and right now my waiver claim of Ian Stewart doesn’t have me feeling much better. Thanks.

    • Grey

      Grey says:
      (link)

      @Fenst, You own Chacin? I’d grab Betemit for now… Stewart if you can grab two…

      • Fenst says:
        (link)

        @Grey,

        I had him benched going into last week and then lost out on all my waiver claims (4) that would have dropped him off my roster going into this week so he is kind of just rotting there until Sunday when waivers can go through again.

  115. Chris Sale – The only reason he gets the closers jog is because he has a bad elbow – sounds like he is next to fall

    • Grey

      Grey says:
      (link)

      @Mr Baseball, Might’ve already…

      • Wilsonian says:
        (link)

        @Grey, oh ye ominous one. Is that because he pitched the 8th inning tonight? It was a tie game. He came in to make sure it stayed that way. Don’t think he lost the gig so soon, even with Rozzie Guitura as his coach…

        • Grey

          Grey says:
          (link)

          @Wilsonian, Yeah, it’s not a stereotypical move to bring a closer into the 8th inning…

  116. Nuke LaDouche says:

    Need to drop one to make room for zimmerman: Chris Davis, Pedro Alvarez, Chipper. Which one gets the dear john letter?

    • Grey

      @Nuke LaDouche, Chipper

  117. Wallpaper Patterson says:
    (link)

    Pedro Strop?
    What’s the deal with that guy?
    Closing or not?

    • Steve says:
      (link)

      @Wallpaper Patterson, Was just filling in while Johnson was sick.

  118. Wilsonian says:
    (link)

    1) Back to my JP or Avila question. Do you think JP for the long run or while Avila is out? Also, still think JP if I’m already playing Kelly Jo and Edwin?

    2) Looking for UTIL info, only. I need 2 or 3 guys only. Kelly Jo, Hardy, Reynolds, Craig, Rios. If I go 2, I move Phillips back to 2nd (off the bench) and pick up Samardzijaijaiajajjaiaija.

    • Grey

      Grey says:
      (link)

      @Wilsonian, Avila long term… Hardy, Craig, Reynolds…

  119. elwood blues says:

    As I try to figure out trade options to replace Werth long-term.. who do I pick up in the meantime, NL Only 4×4.. Bernadina, Tracy, or Nady, or Maxwell, Cardenas, Oberbay, Herrera. (bleh!)

    • Grey

      Grey says:
      (link)

      @elwood blues, Nady…

      (link)

      @nick m., Davis

  121. Prezii says:
    (link)

    I loved boesch coming into the season… But now not so much…, dropped to the bottom of the lineup, .214 average, lots a K’s… I still love his potential and that lineup but do you think he’ll turn things around and become at least halfway consistent?? Thoughts on him grey?? Or anyone im open to everyones opinion.

    • Grey

      Grey says:
      (link)

      @Prezii, Yeah, I don’t like him now with where he’s batting…

      • Prezii says:
        (link)

        @Grey, the 2 spot was perfect for him.. from a fantasy perspective.

  122. Steve says:
    (link)

    What’s the deal with Boggs? Thought he was the main setup guy for the Cards.

    Didn’t get the call yesterday and now comes in with a 6-0 lead.

    And gives up a stupid run.

    • Grey

      Grey says:
      (link)

      @Steve, Yeah, not great… But still has solid overall numbers…

        • Mrobs says:
          (link)

          @Mrobs, kinda want to see him get out of this inning first… but afraid someone else is gonna snag him

          • 3FingersBrown says:
            (link)

            @Mrobs, Rocks threatening. Scutarro came a few feet from tying it up with that foul ball.

        • Grey

          Grey says:

          @Mrobs, I did… But he looks terrible too…

    wiggy or Chris Johnson as a longo replacement

    • Grey

      Grey says:
      (link)

      @aj, Johnson

      • 3FingersBrown says:
        (link)

        @Grey, 3B fail. I should have followed Rudy and picked up Seager (or Johnson) last week in H2H, instead of Wiggy. Just kicked Wiggy to the curb for Betemit – I figure he’s at home this week.

        Thinking of dumping Cash for a 3B now – OBP + AVG, but all there’s left is a festering cesspool of MMD, Ransom, Crapolanco, Maicerllaspo and a host of other guys without jobs.

        I think I’ll just use that slot to stream starters… Get well soon Panda.

        • Grey

          Grey says:
          (link)

          @3FingersBrown, Yeah, Seager wasn’t a terrible call…

          • 3FingersBrown says:
            (link)

            @Grey, Eh, I’m suffering enough with Ackley, I can’t have another Fisherman in my lineup.

            I think it’ll be about playing the hot hand until the big guy’s hamate gets better. There’s gotta be a joke in there about him mistaking it for a ham sandwich…

    I hate to be that guy who posts his whole team, but I just picked up a squad in a 10 team ESPN H2H league with my buddies. Hitting stats are R, HR, TB, RBI, SB, AVG, and OPS. Pitching stats are K, QS, W, SV, BAA, ERA, and WHIP. It looks like this:

    C: Posey
    1B: Goldschmidt
    2B: Kinsler
    3B: Bautista
    SS: Hanley
    IF: Jeter
    IF: Kipnis
    OF: Cruz
    OF: Victorino
    OF: Carlos Lee
    OF: Rios
    OF Craig
    UTIL: Hart
    UTIL: Trout
    BN: Hosmer
    BN: Choo
    DL: Gardner, Crisp

    Pitchers are Cliff Lee, Wilson, Kennedy, Latos, Beachy, Hudson, Lilly, Detwiler, Motte, and Broxton.

    Strengths? Weaknesses?
    Thanks as always!

      • Poo Holes says:
        (link)

        @Grey, Well it’s low in most of the hitting stats but that could just be due to inactivity. I have the lowest ERA and WHIP but the least wins and strikeouts. That’s got lazy owner written all over it. I picked up Trout, Craig, and Detwiler over Aybar, Ryan Roberts, and Luebke.

    I was able to deal Willingham about 2 weeks ago for Bruce. I think it’s worked out so far…

    In another league, I have been offered a deal of my Granderson, Bruce, and Strasburg for his Fielder, Jennings, Cruz, and Hellickson. Thoughts?
    12 team H2H Keeper where I can keep stras for 4 years and bruce for 3. Lineup looks like this:
    C: Jesus
    1B: Votto
    2B: Uggla
    3B: Wright
    SS: Aybar
    OF: Granderson, Bruce, Stubbs
    Util: 1 of Rios, Moose, and Morneau

    P: Lee, Strasburg, D. Hudson, Romero, Ubaldo, Marcum, and McDonald.

    Thoughts?

    I’m in a pretty tough spot in my league. I have four closers (robertson/motte/johnson/casilla) and Chapman whose been lights out for me. The main issue is I can have only start 3 out of the 5 rp’s on a given day. I have tried offering the closers out for trade, but haven’t had any bites.

    My Sp’s are Gallardo/Latos/Sanchez/Beachy/Hammel, I also have Trevor Bauer sitting on my bench.

    I’m thinking of grabbing zambrano, as im a little behind in k’s/w’s, but am having a hard time deciding who to drop.

    Also I have gardner coming back off DL on thursday hopefully, who would you drop between De Aza, Reynolds, Alvarez (i’ve been lacking in sb’s with Gardner out)

    Cheers!

    @Grey, It’s hard to have a trade policy in something like the RCL’s where no one knows each other, but I’ll throw this idea out there one more time (I threw it out last season.)

    My leagues (football and baseball) use a trade policy with the zesty title of “The Trade Policy.” If two owners (or more) wish to make a trade, they each post the trade on the message board and the trade takes 24 hours to get executed. During this time, other owners have two options. 1). Any owner can make a counteroffer. If the counteroffer is accepted, the first trade is null and void and the second trade restarts the 24-hour clock once the counteroffer is agreed to and posted. Any owner has 24 hours to “pull out” of a trade if they change their mind or are convinced to “pull out” because of what’s allowed in the second option….. 2). Perhaps a counteroffer makes no sense for an owner’s current situation, but instead any owner is free to post comments on the message board such as “You’re really walking into a trap with that trade” or “I think you should also make him throw in so and so to make that trade more even.”

    Many times, owners will back out of a trade because enough owners have basically told him (or her) that it’s a lousy trade and that he (or she) is getting taken to the cleaners. The other great aspect of “The Trade Policy” is that sometimes owners have no idea that a particular owner was willing to part with a particular player. Once there’s a trade on the board involving that player, another owner has the opportunity to “top” that offer by making a counteroffer that seems like a better deal than the original deal he was about to make.

    “The Trade Policy” has nearly eradicated ALL of the stinker trades that drive us all crazy throughout the course of a season, whether it’s football or baseball. It makes trading a transparent enterprise and not one that’s conducted in back-alleys under the cloak of darkness. Like I said, this would be tough in an RCL on ESPN, but in leagues with friends or league’s that are commissioned by someone other than just the website, “The Trade Policy” has been liquid gold for my leagues and I highly recommend it to owners and commissioners that are sick of dealing with “wolf owners” who attack “sheep owners.”

    “The Trade Policy” is also a great way to get negotiations going. Sometimes you’ll agree to a trade merely because you know that other owners may float you some alternative ideas for trades. It gets the message out there that “Hey, I’m trading this guy. If you want him, then make a better offer than what I’m currently receiving.”

    I was just wondering what your thoughts were on this.

      @Eric Riptide,

      finally .

      i’ve been espousing this sort of “open trade” policy for a few years now ,
      but people are very slow to change .

      also , an additional benefit is that more trades might result because of the
      additional offers being floated .
      gives more people a chance to move players , and to find out which owners are willing to negotiate .

      nice job , Eric .
      more leagues should follow your lead .

    10-team ESPN Standard Roto. Teixeira was DROPPED for Chipper Jones yesterday! This guy obviously doesn’t know what he is doing and I PRAY Tex falls to me in the 8th spot. A couple weeks ago he also dropped Nelson Cruz and was immediately taken by the team in 2nd place. Moron..

    That’s an awesome response to a bogus trade!

    Krispie supposed to be coming off the DL soonish. (Mid next week maybe).
    I currently have Jerkface Harper, Willingham, Torii, and Austin Jackson along w Bonifacio. Which of those would you lose once Krispie comes off the DL and sets the desert on fire again?

    Cliff Lee/Rollins
    Team A would be punting saves (with H Rod left)…
