Picture above ground, there’s different levels of air. In the first level of air, there’s number one outfielders. Ryan Braun, he’s a number one. He’s like a Macy’s Day Parade balloon, big and just off the ground. Then in the next level of air, there’s number two outfielders. We’re right above the world’s tallest buildings now. There you find Nelson Cruz. Say hello, Nelson. Okay, he’s brooding. Next level up is the number three’s. What’s up, Jason Kubel? Chillin’, Grey! Watch your head, there’s a plane flying past to your right. Swoosh! Above them, and the air is thinning now. You can’t breath, and not simply because you smoke a pack a day while telling your loved one you’re running to the store to get a snack — 17 times a day. Balls carry a little better here. Here we find number four outfielders. Here is Tyler Colvin. He’s singing, “Sunny, came home,” and his armpits are heavy with fur. Now, at times, number one outfielders could have their humans lose their string and float up to number two. Number two’s could float up and stink. They’re usually the most silent, but deadly. Number 3′s could get a bad pocket of air and go to number 4. And all of these could be reversed with 4′s going to 3, 3′s to 2 and 2′s to 1. 1′s can’t go lower, but they’re already beasts. Right now, Tyler is floating around the 3rd outfielder stratosphere. ”What’s up, Jason Kubel? I’m Tyler Colvin, I used to be a number four and open at Lilith Fair.” That’s Tyler Colvin acting out this, the world’s longest metaphor. Colvin will probably float back to his own kind, but he’s playing every day and hitting — 3 homers in the last ten games, batting ~.350 in the last week. In the smaller picture that you need your reading glasses for, he should be owned in all leagues. In the big picture, he’s nothing more than a .250 hitter with power. Think Ryan Ludwick. So, at some point, he’s not becoming of number two outfielder, just a number two. Anyway, here’s some more players to buy or sell this week in fantasy baseball:
BUY
Garrett Jones – Every time I lay my dark, mysterious, perfectly set eyes on Garrett Jones, we connect in a way that is only explainable a few times a year when he’s hitting. Right now, we’ve got eyes for each other.
Norichika Aoki – He hasn’t stopped hitting since last time I told you to buy him last week. Fun fact! Norichika is geisha bedding made of seaweed. It can be compared to the American custom of rubbing onions on ones’ armpits when you haven’t showered.
Quintin Berry – He’s the fastest QB since Warren Moon. Look at Grey busting out some dated football reference that may or may not make sense! If you want some real fantasy football knowledge, click on that linkie-ma-whoseit.
Justin Ruggiano – Right when I started writing this blurb, my iTunes started playing Alexi Murdoch’s Orange Sky that was featured on Dawson’s Creek, a show that hasn’t dated one iota. It was always crap. I love you, Joey! I can’t watch your forehead, VDB! Either way, this song goes, “In Justin Ruggiano, my salvation lies… In Justin Ruggiano, my salvation lies…” At least that’s what I heard.
Lance Berkman – Much to my surprise I found Berkman listed amongst players under 50% owned. Did I then rush to see if he was owned in my league? Noppers! But, still, I’d stash him on my DL if I had room. He’s due back towards the end of July. Just yesterday, he fielded grounders, and I don’t even think they were simulated grounders like what Ryan Howard’s gotten so good with one of those big 3-D helmets on his head like they have in the coolest arcades.
Starling Marte – I just went over my Starling Marte fantasy. On this topic, I decided that the person in your league that’s always stashing prospects has a new name, Short Eyes.
Alexi Amarista – Hey, Amarista, give me a soy latte extra SAGNOF!
Erick Aybar – In this week’s podcast, I mentioned Aybar briefly, saying how Trumbo had pretty much the same amount of steals as him. Yikes; no wonder you’re prematurely balding. Aybar’s giving you the HFU (Hair Follicle Ulcer, for you laymen and four laywomen). Aybar was on the doodie bubble for the better part of two months, but he’s hitting near .450 over the last week and speed should come.
Adam Lind – Let’s put it this way, as long as I don’t pick him up, he should be playing and hitting. Though, I can’t promise you I won’t pick him up again.
Yasmani Grandal – I went over my Yasmani Grandal fantasy when he was first called up. Nothing’s changed except that he’s now hitting homers like he’s Barry Bonds and Justin Ruggiano’s love child, Jarry Buggiano, which I believe was the real name of one of The Bugaloos.
Wilin Rosario – He began the season as a deep league flyer for a number two catcher. Then he slowly progressed to mixed league viable, one catcher leagues. Then he beat Steve Wiebe at Donkey Kong. So Wilin or won’t he continue to hit bombs? He Wilin. Wilin or won’t he hit .250? He Wilin’t. Actually, let’s just call him Wilin’t BA-Foe.
Bobby Parnell – This is probably just confirmation bias or some of Psych 101 term that I’m not 100% of its meaning, but it seems like as soon as a closer gets over 50% owned at ESPN, they fall apart. So maybe it’s good people are taking a long time to add Parnell.
Greg Holland – From craft services, Broxton was seen smuggling out juice pouches and a tray of sandwiches, just in case he has to leave suddenly to go to another team. ”With my chubby fingers, it’s hard to get the straw in the Capri Sun, but I like a challenge.” That’s Broxton when asked if he’d welcome being a closer on a contending team.
Sergio Romo – On one hand, he’s better than Casilla. On the other hand, Bochy seems to prefer Casilla. On the third hand that is actually Thing from The Addams Family, if Casilla loses another game, Bochy will have to switch them or people will be calling for his head. Though I’m not sure where they’d put it if they got it. ”Sorry, sir, you’re gonna have to check that.” That’s Bochy trying to get his head on a plane.
Chris Tillman – I just went over my Chris Tillman fantasy. It’s one part genius, two parts dopey. Hint: The nouns are dopey.
Franklin Morales – Last week, I told you to “Buy” into Franklin Morales. This “week” I’m telling you to look at what he’s done since last “week.” And when I put quotes on something, I’m using air quotes and raising my voice an octave so I sound like a real ass.
Mike Leake – Even though his K-rate isn’t going to blow anyone away, his walk rate is very solid. His ERA is just over 4, but his xFIP is actually well below it (3.58). When you say Leake, I say Buy. Ready? Leake…Buy! Leake…Buy! Leake…Gotta take one. Gotcha.
Travis Wood – Hey, you gotta take a Leake and now you got Wood… That’s a mess! Wood has a 3.05 ERA and a 1.09 WHIP. Okay, now randomly pull up a guy’s stats from your team. No, not a hitter. Okay, you looking at a pitcher’s stats? Wood’s better or worse? Okay, but Wood’s not this good so don’t go crazy with yourself on who you drop.
Tommy Milone – For a while Milone was a homeschooling MediOAKer, but aside from a Coors start, he’s been solid in away games too for the last month-plus. Milone no phony.
Michael Fiers – If you’re waiting for the bottom to drop out with him, maybe you wait while he’s on your team. Just a suggestion. Also, he sounds like what Michael Kors’s gay friends would call him. You are Michael FIERS! Now, work!
SELL
Mark Trumbo – Ryuken! That’s one of you in a white tattered karate gi, giving me the surgefist into my gut because I listed Mark Trumbo in the Sells. I’m a bad person, I knew this. I mean, have you even read my (e)book? The New York Times (e)Book Review said, “(e)Books can stay with you a lot longer than we ever imagine, and not simply because we get that stupid pinwheel and our Adobe Reader won’t close. Grey’s (e)book, however, that’s a tour de farce of one unsympathetic character that you hope you never meet.” Trumbo is hitting fifty points over his means. At some point, creditors are gonna come in and repossess his luck with balls in play. Also, his HR/FB% is the 7th highest in the majors and probably will drop down some. Finally, The Sciosciapath is going to ask for his playing time back. I still like Trumbo, but I think if we wanted to chart out a graph of Trumbo’s value on an X and Y axis, I’d Google X and Y axis and then ask someone else to do it. If we were to just use words rather than charts, I think the best of Trumbo is in the rearview mirror and is closer than it appears. This does not mean I think the bottom will totally fall out. He’s probably a 2nd half 14 homer, .250 hitter. Still solid, Willingham-ish. Just not what he was. So I’d look to get value for him, but I wouldn’t trade him for a pair of Cassette Glasses. (BTW, Cassette Glasses are my latest money-making scheme. Take an old cassette tape and put wire on the sides and fashion them into a pair of sunglasses. It’s gonna be all the rage!)

Have three closers – Cook, Frieri and Myers — but Myers hasn’t done shite for me lately (1 SV in 3 weeks, only 5 appearances) and I suspect if he’s traded he won’t be closing.
Would you dump Myers for a speculative pickup of Holland?
@abdoozy, I wouldn’t yet…
Drop Quentin or Pena for Colvin? Just cut Belt for a speculative add of Holland.
@Wilsonian, Quentin for Colvin and Belt for Holland…
Hows about Trumbo for Strasburg and his remaining innings?
@MattTruss223, I’d do that if I needed a pitcher…
You mind ranking the following?
Fiers, Milone, Volquez, Fister, Bauer, Diamond
@Derrick, Fiers, Milone, Bauer
12 team 5×5 league, 2 catchers, no bench. I’m pretty well set for power (at least so far). I’ve been having problems filling my second catcher spot (Salty is doing just fine in my first catcher spot). I’m wondering if I should try to pick up Soto or Buck, in hopes that they will have a much better second half or go with someone like Thole, who at least won’t kill my average?
@MikeZ, Go with Soto…
impressive alexi murdoch reference….
@herschel, Thanks!
grey — you are fun, that is all
@ferris, Thanks!
New term (well it’s an old term but new in this context): eating a sh-t sandwich. Originates with my recent experiences with Lance Lynn. He had 2 great starts bookending three serious stinkers . I missed the brillant bookends and ate the sh-t sandwich he gave me in between. Indigestion … and no clue how to handle him going forward, as matchups don’t matter to him. He’s either on or off and likely to keep delivering sh-t sandwiches.
@jack, Damn, that tastes awful!
@Grey, yeah, the gut rotting triple decker lance served me will likely taint my whole season!
@jack, He fed me the exact same sandwich…
@ Grey
Drop Niese, Burnett, or Hultzen for Tillman?
@Heyward Bound, I’d hold for now…
I’m just gonna come right out and say it – I think Warren Moon is the best QB in Tecmo Super Bowl!
@Anon, Ha… Hell yeah!
@Grey
When it comes to actors playing Grey and Rudy in a movie, I think the most obvious choice is Nick Offerman and Craig Robinson:

member when you told me to stream Detwiler and not Fiers? Pepperidge Farm remembers…
Streamer for tomorrow:
Gee v. Cubs
Bailey @ SD
Thanks!
@Melvin Emanuel, Nice choices on actors! Bailey…
@Melvin Emanuel,
I was thinking Harry Bellafonte & Dom Deluise but then again my casting couch always seems to be empty.
I hate to ask a catcher question but I’ve been Ron Popeiling Jesus all year and Salty and Wilin are both available. Drop for either?
Wilin
Thinking of sending Howard for either Vogelsong or James McDonald. You like it? Which one would you rather have?
Either… McDonald first…
Im in 6th place out of 13 teams. why does my team suck so hard? any suggestions?

Your hitting is a bit of a mess and your pitching isn’t exactly all aces… Could see trading Hamilton for two pieces to fill in some of your holes…
Also for rest of season; Anibal Sanchez, Jarrod Parker or Michael Fiers?
Anibal
Went on a three day vacation with the wife and baby- the baby’s first! – and I think I returned a bit more tired than I thought… I picked up Travis Wood at 7:30 this morning, and just returned from trying to pick him up again a minute ago. Nice to have your support for the pickup, though!
Nice! Where’d you go?
@Grey, Sonoma- wife’s eccentric uncle lives up there so we’ve gone around the 4th for a few years running. Was able to get $160 RT flights on virgin America less than a week ago, so we figured we’d give it a shot, and it worked out as well as we could have hoped, though not bring able to leave the hotel room after 8 because the baby’s sleeping makes for an odd vacation.
It’s beautiful up there, and I’m not even a beautiful up there kind of guy… Have some good meals?
@Grey, Yeah, it is beautiful. We drove up to Guerneville, where some friends had moved recently, and wandered around the redwoods, too.
Unfortunately, I didn’t get to go to any great restaurants because of other commitments, such as having to be in the hotel room from 7 on for the baby, and just having a baby generally (my wife has a rule against taking her to fancy restaurants because she thinks that it would be rude if she was crying and people were paying lots of money only to sit next to a crying baby, which is fine by me). I’ve had some great meals around there in years past; one of my favorites was the fried chicken night at Ad Hoc, which I think is going on in LA now at Bouchon. Last year we went to El Dorado Kitchen and Estate, both of which were fantastic.
The trip was mostly a test run for a longer trip we have planned for later this month- one week in Kauai for my brother-in-law’s wedding. Since it went smoothly, I’m really looking forward to that, although I find it odd that someone who lives in San Diego would get married in Hawaii, considering that it’s not nearly different enough to justify the additional expenses, but I might just be bitter about how much it’s costing us… Hard to be bitter about a week in Hawaii, but I am an accomplished grump.
Yeah, Ad Hoc is amazing… It is Bouchon now… I like the idea of a destination wedding simply because you can invite a lot more people than will show up so you’re getting gifts from people who aren’t there….
@Grey, Ha! That’s totally true, though it works best if you pick somewhere bleh. For example, a buddy who lives in NY is getting married somewhere in Maryland in a couple months. Around the same time, another buddy is getting married in Muir Beach, which is right over the Golden Gate Bridge. Guess which I’ll be attending? My wife told me that I should just send the NY buddy a really nice gift, so it may work out exactly as he had planned.
Have you gone to Bouchon on fried chicken night? I’ve been wanting to go since they started it but haven’t found the time.
Nah, haven’t been there for fried chicken… Yet! Come up here and we’ll go… I did go to Honey Kettle Fried Chicken recently… Was kinda ridiculously good…
The Ian Desmond blurb below reminded me of a thread from the off-season.
Here’s what frequent commenter and attention whore OaktownSteve said about the Nats SS in March:
Ian Desmond…shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

@OaktownSteve, yeah replying to myself.
I think the reason a guy like Desmond has no buzz is that there is absolutely nothing in the mlb numbers to indicate upside trends. These days there are a bunch of semi-pro SABR sleuths running around eating BABIP for breakfast and when the see something it gets posted on Fangraphs or the Hardball Times or Baseball HQ or whatever and then the MSM of fantasy (Yahoo/ESPN etc.) picks it up and you have buzz.
What gets me interested in Desmond this year is what I would call the fundamental analysis rather than the technical. In the stock market, technicals are looking at charts and graphps to figure out the relation of stock to the marketplace numerically. This would be the like a High Frequency Trading algorithmic trader. Fundamental analysis is the Warren Buffet way. What do I think of this company? Do people buy what they make? How stable is the management?
What I am picking up on Desmond is positive fundamentals of the course of the last 18 months or so. I think this presents a buy opportunity on Desmond because he’s a guy that is not hitting the SABR radar at all. And as much as I like numbers, you can’t always see the future in them.
I won’t go into it all the good stuff I have on Desmond, you can find it yourself on the interwebs. I will add that fundamental analysis is the reason why my favorite sources are the hometown radio broadcasts on XM satellite and the local daily papers online (Washington Post in this case).

@OaktownSteve, I like the technical vs. fundamental idea, but I think it can be misused by people to say, “I just have a special feeling so and so is gonna bounce back.”

@Grey,
Numbers can get misused too. They’re both just tools that can be applied better or worse depending upon who’s weilding them.
I think with fundamental stuff the first rule, which I didn’t mention before, is watch as much baseball as you possibly can. Be your own scout and trust your own eyes.
Second thing is trust guys who watch the team every day, but aren’t part of the organization. That’s why I like the radio guys and the beat writers. They watch every pitch every inning and the good ones aren’t afraid to call it like they see it.
I also like to get an accumulation of facts that start to add up. I don’t want to read “best shape of his life!” and draw a whole lot of conclusions. I just keep my ear out there and start to build a case.
I like fundamental analysis because it’s about players as human beings and not just number generating cyborgs (Albert Pujols excepted).
Here’s the whole thing. Some good conversation:
http://razzball.com/shortstops-to-target-2012-fantasy-baseball/
Nice convo we had there! Problem with Fangraphs is they get caught up if player isn’t ‘good’ at baseball… Where it shouldn’t matter as long as he can help your fantasy team…
@OaktownSteve, I agree, and that’s why my Jays picks usually turn out correct. Last year I defended Bautista against everyone because my eyes were telling me he was legit (too bad I didn’t play fantasy last year though to cash in). This year I picked EE and Morrow.
It’s harder to play fantasy baseball now that everybody’s dialed into SABR stuff, but so then you need to zig when others zag to find value. For example, during a series against Milwaukee a few weeks ago I noticed Aoki’s approach which looked very Ichiro-like, and so even though I only got to watch three games (interleague vs Jays), I was convinced his BABIP could be sustainable and that he could outproduce 2012 Ichiro (but then again who can’t?).
Better SS ROS- Aybar or Jed Lowrie?
Lowrie
Wood or Fiers?
@knighttown,
Sorry, Fiers gone. Wood or Milone?
Milone
Fiers
Holland and Benoit basically the same guy (no holds league) with the possibility that Holland gets saves? I’ve been rocking Benoit for ratio help and he’s been good but thinking Holland can do that and more.
Yes, they are the same with Holland could get saves….
I got Halladay coming off the DL soon hopefully… so I’m gonna have to make some room… but I’m wondering about S.Marte in my deep keeper.
Between Gee, Wandy, Seager, Krispie (kept in rd 20), Hultzen… should I be dumping someone right now for Marte and worry about the DL drop later?
What type of full year player is Starling projecting like? Krispie? Doh…
I just want over Marte… I’d lose Wandy…
@Grey, no, I know you did… i guess I was asking if that projection was ROS ’12, which it seems like it is. I don’t *need* an OF now, but as a possible keeper/chip, are you saying he’s got full-year potential for .285/17/20 in 2013?
It’s funny, us Krispie keeper owners where planning on .245/20/20 this year. I could picture Shatner right now screaming “KRISSSSSSS-PIIIIIIIIE”. Then again ‘ol Bill was prob smart enough to sell him back in April.
Shatner’s a brilliant strategist… How else to explain his long career? Marte’s a good flyer with upside, worth holding him though it’s possible he struggles mightily in average…
Is Alex Gordon a good buy low or is he just not very good?
Was offered him for Salty. Have Wieters already, but don’t need another OF at least another one with power, was wanting a prospect or speed really.
Not crazy to say no right? Im sure he can do better than this…he’s been stuck with Jesus right now.
I’d want the prospects of Gordon over Salty…
Plouffe or A. Jones ROS (keeping in mind I have to position flexibility with Jones)
Adam Jones
Do you want Colvin, Robot or Ruggiano over Lind?
@Steve, Oops. 12 team h2h, OBP as well as AVG…
Actually Colvin then…
@Grey, Yeah. I don’t quite have the luxury of swapping Jones in and out depending on who he’s facing.
Yeah, exactly…
@Grey, Though the playing time between Jones and Colvin has been very similar lately. And Jones has been pretty awesome. And playing a bit against lefties, no?
Yeah, but that won’t continue and in a 12 team league vs. a 9 team better to go with a higher upside…
@Grey, True. I actually have Jones in my 14 teamer (where royce! And I are in 1st!) and I have to admit I haven’t even been swapping him in and out…
Yeah, he’s been better than a lot of other 5th OFs…
Robot
Please Rate all players ROS
Ruggiano, Moss, Colvin, Reddick, De Aza, Quentin, Revere, Berkman
Thanks Grey. Have a great weekend.
Reddick, Berkman, De Aza…
Bauer for Leake?
Leake
Offered Josh Beckett and Alex Gordon for Trumbo. Leaning towards yes, even though I’m not confident Gordon does anything in the second half. Agree with my assessment?
I’d keep Trumbo there…
Sell Trumbo… Should I deal him for Jake Peavy? Thanks.
I’d want more/different…
Brandon Morrow has only 67 K’s in 77 innings – what do you make of that Grey (thats a big drop off ) but the league is hitting .194 against him – more details to follow
He was supposedly pitching to contact… http://razzball.com/the-runs-will-come-out-morrow/
Or Trumbo for Latos?
I’d want Trumbo…
Starling Marte, Matt Joyce, or Garret Jones going forward?
Joyce
Is this Bud for you – Bud Norris – great start to season
I saw that someone elsewhere posted a sort of razzies list for the first half, though it was written as more of a “these players have been a disappointment” than “these players have been the least valuable at their position,” such that The Adverb made the list. Anyone at Razzball intend to write a similar post, except focusing on the most valuable fantasy razzball players? It could be a fun, schadenfreudy read.
Yeah, gotta see if Higgins will do one… He’s mastering the domain of Fantasy Razzball…
More details to follow
would you trade Ryan Howard for Brandon Morrow in keeper league or would you hold out for someone else man
I’d take Morrow…
bc Aoki is above rugiano, does that mean you like him more? Do you think ruggiano loses ABs when bonifacio comes back?
The listing order means nothing… Ruggiano for now, he might not be worth owning in 3 days…
do I drop for Jesus Montero for Grandal or Perez?
Perez
Did you read the NY Times article about Kuroda’s training/abuse as a kid? It’s some kung fu/Kill Bill shizz; it’s pretty nuts.
Nah, what’s the link?
@Grey, http://www.nytimes.com/2012/07/06/sports/baseball/in-japan-yankees-hiroki-kuroda-was-molded-by-pain.html?_r=1&ref=sports&pagewanted=all
Sweet, will check it out later, thanks!
I’ve been waiting for Yahoo! to put Pedroia on the DL, and now they’ve finally done something- put an “NA” next to his name. Try again, guys.
So annoying…
Hi grey,
Hope all is well… I was just offered a trade in a 12-team, H2H, 5×5. My team is doing pitiful right now and i think it’s mostly because of my offense.. some pitching now with Dempster and Morrow on the ol’ DL.. Any the hoo, I was offered M. Cuddyer for my A. Sanchez… I realize he’s buying low on Sanchez but as you will see BJ Upton is killing me. Rest of the team follow
C:Weiters
!B: Pujols
2B: Pedroia
3B: Panda
SS: Hanram
OF: Bruuuce, Upton, Jennings
Util: Goldy
BN: Middlebrooks
SPs:Sanchez, Bum, CJ Wilson, Zimms, Matt Harrison, Milone, GEE
DL: Dempster, Morrow
Think I could counter with someone lower on the totem pole? Or does this seem fair? Thanks
BnY (10 games over .500) wait what?
Sounds fair, go for it… BnY…
I was able to pull in some converts to the Razzball at the 4th of July BBQ I was at. It was very easy. Have you ever considered making it a “religion”, you know for tax purposes? If so what would you call it?
Razzballigous!
@Grey, Pope Grey
@Grey, Would Grey, Rudy, and the Moustache be the Holy Trinity?
Ha… Yup!
@Grey, missionaries can go from bar to bar on mopeds to preach the word
Plan on it!
Trade Question Grey:
I’m in a 12 T h2h most categories weekly league. 7×7 with k’s/ops for batters and IP/L’s for pitchers
I have Pierzinsky and Rosario (who I play when he has mainly home games) and my pitchers are Verlander, MadBum, Gio, Vogelsong, Parker, Niese
This is a keeper league where you lose 3 rounds ahead of where they were drafted.
I got proposed Vogelsong/Pierzinsky for Salvador Perez. If Perez keeps this up I’d probably keep him losing only a 20th round pick.
Vogelsong has been wondrous for me, do you think I can afford to part with him/is that a big enough upgrade at catcher to lose the NL leader in ERA.
Thanks man.
I’d hold….
@Grey, thanks.. what if it was mauer instead of perez
Bleh
Who’s the better tool for my utility belt- er… slot, Aoki or Rizzo?
Rizzo
Hi Grey — Three questions, only two about my fantasy baseball teams:
A) Will you still write something over the no-game days during the All-Star Break?
B) Please rank the top 3 or so choices among these SPs post All-Star Break: Arroyo, Franklin Morales, Nolasco, Carlos Villanueva, Blackley, Westbrook, Buchholz, Bud Norris, Jair jair, Detwiler, Alex Cobb, Hochevar.
and
C) I have a feeling you’re right on regarding KC’s Holland. I assume that’s a better closer-in-waiting situation to buy into than Colorado, Houston, or San Diego, right? And if it is, I’ve got Cook, Parnell, and Frank Frank now … would you drop any of them for Holland? Or should I find a drop candidate elsewhere on my roster?
A) yup B) Norris, Morales, Nolasco C) can lose Francisco for Holland
Got a new offer for cargo: cargo/craig for cano/dunn. May have to swap a mid level pitcher but that is the core deal. Which side would u want? Also do u think craig will lose time when berkman comes back? Hes my 2b and the ww is bare.
CarGo side… No, Craig will play, Carpenter’s gone…
If Bauer has another poor start against the weak Dodgers this weekend, is he even rosterable in a 10 team mixed league? I could understand a poor start against the Braves, but that was just pathetic versus the Padres. After Dodgers, next start could come @ Cubs or @ Reds depending how they set up the rotation after the all-star break.
I’d drop him of it’s another poor start…
Ditch a slumper like Stubbs (0 for 28!) for a hot bat like G. Jones, Colvin or Ruggiano?
I’m leading in steals and still have Maybin and a few others to keep that category going. But I’m falling back in the other batting categories (obviously BA, since I have both Maybin and Stubbs! geez) and I feel like I need to make a move.
Thanks!
Can try Colvin if you’re fine in steals… I’d prefer to hold…
Who is the best 2 OF’s on my waiver wire for the rest of the season?
Moss, Colvin, Ruggiano, Quentin.
And does Quentin gain value if he gets traded to an AL team or is he just another past his prime name…?
Colvin, Moss… Quentin gains value anywhere outside of Petco…
I see that Casilla is injured….
Best pick up for potential saves….Holland or Romo?
Romo…
I love King of Kong!
I went with a group to an early screening at the Producer’s house for notes… About a six months prior to its release… Everyone I was there with got a special thank you in the credits except me… *sad video game music of death*
Should I bat Howard tonight against Hudson and if so, who do I replace him for?
Rizzo
Alverez
Cabrera
Over Pedro…
As offered two trades:
Trumbo for Johan
And
Jupton for Matt moore
Leaning towards the 2nd one. Thoughts?
Thanks!
I’d do the 2nd one…
Gaah! Yadi is on bereavement leave thru the ASB and I need a catcher for the weekend..
Not much to pick from:
Avila, Soto, Jaso, Ellis, the usual schlubs.
Suggestions?
@Abdoozy, Oh no, something happen to Benjie? I’d just grab Soto since he went deep yesterday… Maybe he’s hot for a day or two…
Pick one. Lind or Morrison
Lind
Replacement for Pedroia…
Andrelton Simmons or Alexi Amarista?
Amarista
Off on a week’s vacay today. Google ‘Taupo’.
I’ll be lurking though…
That looks incredible! Have a great time! Isn’t it winter there though? Looks beachy.
@Grey, Yeah, it’s winter here. It’s pretty much a summer and winter place. There’s a lake that you can swim in in summer but it’s only about an hour from the mountains too.
You go skiing?
@Grey, Not for a long time. Have taken the kids to play in the snow before, might not make it this time.
I used to love to ski… haven’t in about 5 years… it’s a schlep from where i am…
Is Ian Kennedy for Rizzo close at all?
It’s close enough…
would you rather have Storen or Holland for saves?
Holland
Colvin strikes again away from Coors!
I was one of those dopes who has had Howard stashed on the DL all season….I had Utley too, please don’t laugh!
Now that Howard has been activated, who is the better DL stash? Storen or Morrow?
Current pitching staff,
Madbum, Gallardo, Aniballsack, Matt Moore, Latos (waiver score!) and Parker
RP: Kimbrel, Champman, Wilhelmsen.
6×6 roto with K, BB, SV, W, ERA, WHIP as the categories and I’m middle of the pack in BB and WHIP, ranked 3rd or so in rest of the categories. 1600 innings cap so not too restrictive
Colvin! Morrow…
@Grey, Double Colvin!!! I guess I can’t make a move for Morrow until I drop someone since Howard officially came off the DL. Is getting Morrow worth dropping Jarrod Parker after his start against Seattle? There’s at least a 50-60% chance I could get Parker back.
While the ride with him has been nice, I don’t expect it to last too long. Niese is available to pick up regardless, so I guess, Parker or Niese?
Double, baby! Can drop Parker after M’s start… I’d prefer Niese…
number 2 today for tyler….
Sweet child o mine!
Wait… Sunny came home… Twice!
@Grey, yes number 2 in the good way, not in the way colvin is destined to become…
When you get to a certain age, number 2′s always in the good way…
Got an offer of EE/Strop for my Lawrie/Reed in my 12 team daily. Not interested in this trade at all (Strop? Why is he rostered?) but I see the guy has David Wright as well. And he really needs a closer. Please rank these trades in order of best for me and stop when you wouldn’t do it:
A) Lawrie/Reed (always these two) for Wright/Jennings
B) L/R for Wright/Stubbs
D) L/R for Car-Go/EJax
E) L/R for Votto/EJax
E, D, A, B
@Grey,
I’m an idiot. Just looked and I can’t lose Lawrie cause I’ve got no 3B. If I sub out Lawrie for Konerko (ranks are nearly the same) are still a green light?
So Konerko/Reed for Votto/Ejax
That works for me…
@Grey: better drop in 12 team redraft roto: oswalt, cashner, gee?
thanks.
Cashner
Go tyler go…. if i didnt have so many damn batters youd be mine!! And rizzo just sent me a text that reads “what did you say about my time in San Diego?”… Hes mashin right now.. makin me wanna take him off the trade block!
That’s what I’m talking about! Rizzo’s in beast-mode… Glad I have him on my keeper…
@Grey, nicee. Wish this league was a keeper.. trout and rizzo… Ughh
remind me , next year , to sit every damn pitcher that i own , the week
prior to the asb .
They’re all pooping on ya, huh?
@Grey, Experiencing the same thing, even with Hamels and Kershaw. Wait, that’s just my actives. On the bench have missed gems by Harrison, Lynn and Shark. Got this week totally ass backwards.
You gotta do the opposite like Costanza…
@Grey: where does February Grey rank Rizzo next season amongst first baseman?
7thish
Niese or I. Kennedy?
Kennedy….
ROS
Lee or Yo-Yo?
@Lubey, The big red dog lee
Lee
Masterson was on the RCL team that I took over. I dropped him after he crapped the bed one too many times (it’s remarkable how many times I can forgive it, but I have limits too). He then went on a tear, and I picked him back up for today’s start. Overall, he has given me 26 IP with 24 ER and a WHIP of 1.85. He has done more damage to this team than any other player. I despise him.
Sounds like me with Latos… A man’s got his limits! Even a man with an exclamation mark in his name…
That article about Kuroda was great… Now, I wanna see him throw 200 pitches…
@Grey, If I know my kung fu, by now he should at least be able to fly. Not sure if he can throw 200 pitches, though.
You’re right… 300!
NL Only 4×4 12 team keeper question
Would you trade EverCab($10)
For gordon ($5)? Rebuilding for
NEXT year.
Remember that trade of Putz for a freshly injured Joyce I mentioned a few weeks ago? Of course you do. Well it turns out that the guy with Joyce was sitting on the trade offer, and then pulled the trigger after he got news of Joyce’s injury. Pretty bush league move, if you ask me.
I’m curious, how would something like that go over in a ‘pert league? Tough luck? Veto? Do you have vetoes in, say, the F&F League?
I don’t even look to veto anything, to be honest… I thought the trade Rudy did of Casilla for Darvish was bad, but within reason… The trade you’re describing is a total bush league move but what can you do?
@Grey,
you can retract the trade offer after 48 – 72 hours .
what are you waiting for , letting a trade offer sit , active , for a few weeks ?
@chata, Apparently the guy had been trying to trade for Joyce for a while, so offers were being considered. I don’t like letting offers sit on someone’s shelf for a while either, but sometimes you give someone a couple days to think about it if there are negotiations happening.
Besides, something like this could happen in a matter of minutes. Someone sends me an offer for Kershaw while I’m watching him pitch. 20 minutes later I see him take a comebacker off his head. I immediately pull up the trade offer and accept it.
@Awesomus Maximus,
exactly my point … 48 – 72 hours .
that kershaw example …. sounds less bush league than the
joyce example ?
@chata, Are you saying you can retract an ACCEPTED trade offer within 48-72 hours? Not in ESPN leagues (or my league, at least).
@Awesomus Maximus,
of course i’m not saying that .
i’m saying :
a) if i don’t get a response within 48 hours , i retract the trade proposal . (though this year i did let one extend to 72 hours ,
because there was a weekend involved , i believe . once i determined that my prospective trade partner did indeed change his line-up , and still had not responded , i withdrew the offer .
thus , i would never put myself into the position get into your “joyce” situation .
b) you stated this ==> “Someone sends me an offer for Kershaw while I’m watching him pitch. 20 minutes later I see him take a comebacker off his head. I immediately pull up the trade offer and accept it.”
i don’t see how you can complain about the “joyce” thing , if
you admit to be willing to do this (the “kershaw” thing) .
that’s all that i’m saying .
@chata, You misunderstood what I wrote. The Kershaw thing wasn’t an example of what I would do, it was an example of what I could do. The point was, if you’re the guy who sent me the offer, you now have a DL’d Kershaw and your offer was only 20 minutes old.
So yeah, you put yourself in position to get into the “Joyce situation” whenever you send an offer. If the guy player you sent an offer for gets hurt during your 48-72 hour cutoff, and the other guy accepts the offer before you get a chance to retract it, you’re in the “Joyce situation.” I don’t see how your 48-72 hour cutoff protects you from getting “Joyce’d.”
@Grey, Rudy’s trade seemed a little nutty when you mentioned it, but depending on needs and situation, I could see it working. I just traded Utley and Janssen for Hanley in my league. That might seem lopsided, but the guy is desperate for saves (only 3 points) and has way more offense than he needs. I wasn’t going to let him gain ground in saves without giving up a decent piece in return.
Watch RW yet?
Goldy, Lind, or Colvin?
Keeper league, trying to find a way to get Rizzo. I heart him. Anyone you’d deal for him from this squad:
C – McCann
1B – Fielder
2B – Phillips
3B – Bats
SS – Asdrubal
OF – JUp
OF – Bruce
OF – Jennings
UTIL – Rios
UTIL – Rasmus
BN – Goldy
BN – Longo
DL – Tulo
SP – MadBum
SP – Stras
SP – Peavy
RP – Hanrahan
RP – Reed
P – Soriano
P – Cook
P – Moore
BN – Niese
BN – Lester
BN – Vargas
DL – Doc
Colvin… Maybe one of your pitchers? Peavy?
@Grey, If no on Peavy, anyone else you’d offer?
Sure, Moore or Lester too…
Oswalt or Clayton Richard
Oswalt or Richard at home…
@K!cks,
clayton has a whip of 1.21 established over 113 innings .
he strikes out about 5 1/4 batters per 9 .
oswalt may not pitch 113 innings this year .
while he strikes out almost 1 batter per inning ,
his whip is 2.25 .
Dammit Zimmerman. It’s bad enough you stuck a knife in my back by sucking for two months, but then to keep twisting it like this. Gah.
He’s a bastard…
I’ve got Casilla. Romo got the save tonight in Pittsburgh. Own Romo over Cook, Putz or Casilla?
Could also lose Cobb, Estrada or Oswalt.
Lose Cobb
Cut bait with Campana at this point?
If Sveum reveals that a flaming bag of poo was left on his doorstep…..you all know where it came from.
Any thoughts on Belisle and Belisario? Do they see a bigger role at some point this season?
Ha… Yeah, you can lose him… Belise might see some action but seems doubtful…
Hey grey…was just offered McCann + Wandy Rodriguez for Plouffe. I just dumped Jesus in favor of Willin at catcher…thoughts?
I’d take McCann…
Hola Grey! We starting Hughes at Fenway manana? I’m thinking not, but then again the way things are going these two teams might be real tired by second game tmro…
Hola! I wouldn’t start him there…
@Grey, Gotcha, much obliged.
Hamilton
for
Verlander and Rasmus in a 12-team head-to-header, typical 5×5 categories
What side is better?
Also, same league. I trade Pujols and Garza and get J. Upton and Cain (trade was mentioned yesterday, but has since been reworked)
I’d want Hamilton, but it’s fair… If you need pitching, take Verlander…
12 team h2h 7×7 with ops/ks
Alexei Ramirez or Jed Lowrie at ss?
Lowrie….
Starting Lester Sunday against the Yanks?
Scared it might be a classic 10-9 BOS/NYY slugfest…
I wouldn’t start any pitchers in this series…
@Grey, Spot start for tomorrow: Gee vs CHC, Samarwhatever@NYM, Holland vs MIN or Vargas@OAK?
Vargas
Id advise anyone who owns him, Do Not Sell Trumbo.
I could sell him to you…
What do you think about Shields the rest of the way, have a plethora of 1B/OF to do a possible trade or possibly get Cain, what can I dish for each player?
Butler
Morse
Hosmer
BJ Upton
Jennings
Holliday
Rizzo
McCutchen
Current Starters:
Gio
Greinke
Price
Anibal
Zimmerman
Haren
Holliday for Cain? Butler for Shields?
Who gets the wood?
Rizzo @ NYM (gee)
Lawrie @ CWS (floyd)
Rasmus @CWS
Cruz VS MIN (deduno?)
Cheers man!
Lawrie
Grey – thoughts on Mitch Moreland? He’s available in my 6×6 ops, redraft league… Thinking about stashing him.
Assuming he’s back end of July, what do you see him doing ROS?
Thx
I don’t have much faith in him… Maybe 7 homers, .275…
@Grey, eh… Was thinking lineup, park heating up in July had to be bound for better than that. You rather roster Moreland or JD Martinez?
JD… But pretty close…
Who’s the better keeper? Rasmus or Trumbo
Trumbo
Vogelsong @ PIT
Gio vs. COL
C. Richard vs. CIN
Starting all of them tomorrow?
Start all of them…
Any news on Rubby de la Rosa in Doyers land? He was one of my favorite 2nd half sleepers coming into 2012. Looking for any updates…
Gracias
@El Burro, He had TJ surgery, I wouldn’t mess with him this year. See Wainwright.
@Grey,
I know about the TJ last year, thought he was due back in 2nd half. Or you saying even if he’s comes back, expect nada mucho?
I wouldn’t expect much, yeah…
Just picked up McAllister for his Sunday start v TB in the ol’ h2h. Fair enough or do you prefer Cecil @ CWS?
@Steve, Prefer McAllister
Try this again. NL only 4×4 12-team keeper. Worth trading
My EverCab($10) for Gordon($5) building
For NEXT year.
@Elwood blues, I’d take Gordon
Clippard or Street for ROS? Our league gets 8 points per save.
Also, will Storen be the closer when he comes off of the DL?
@DiscoD, Storen won’t be the closer… Street…
Props on the King of Kong reference.
@Reverse Diarrhea, Thanks!
weekend starts – start or sit? (can start all, 15 teamer)
Cahill vs LAD
Niese vs CHC
Lester vs NYY
Oswalt vs Min
A Sanchez @ Stl
@nightpandas, Start all…
12 tm roto, getting killed in pitching cats. Any problem dropping guys like Romero and Hellickson for the Buys above?
@Steve Stevenson, Nope
Who’s gonna be next week’s “Buy” headliner? I’m looking to get an early start. If history repeats itself, that’ll be an easy two homers for me on Friday. Emoticon…
@Wilsonian, Ha, that’s true…
Currently in the bottom in runs, avg and SB’s. 5th overall. Made some trades to try and add some speed and avg. Just been offered Morse for J Zimm. Thoughts? Don’t really have a place to put him..could drop Revere since I just got Elvis, but I;m pretty far back in steals (dead last, 5 steals behind next guy).
My team:
C: Salvador Perez (just added)
1B: Goldschmidt (recent addition)
2B: Cano (recent addition)
3B: Moose
SS: Elvis (Recent addition)
OF: Braun
OF: Bruce
OF: Cruz
Util: Revere
Util: Rasmus
Bench: C Santana
DL: Longo
SP: Gio
SP: J Zimm
SP: Anibal
SP: Bumgarner
SP: Garza
SP: F Morales
SP: Oswalt
RP: Janssen
RP: Wilhelmson
RP: D Robertson
RP: Perkins
RP: Burton
@Grey’s da man!, Trade doesn’t work for you, don’t carry two catchers…
Lester or Wainwright?
Lester
I have A. Ramirez and P. Alvarez in 10 team mixed league. I want to drop one but could keep both. Who’s better in short term? Rest of season? Also would you stream Clayton Richard today in 10 team league?
Aramis for both… I’d stream him…
Leake, Wood or Richard over Estrada, Hughes or Oswalt?
Leake over Oswalt
which side?
Halladay & Votto
or
Lester & Hanley
Votto
@EK,
haha .
i’ll play devil’s advocate and tell you to take the hanley side ,
just so that you can hum that meat-loaf song all day long .
Rank these pitchers as keepers?
MadBum, Anibal, Zimmermann, Capuano, Lester, Hughes, Estrada, Minor, Milone, Skaggs
Bum, Zimm, Lester, Anibal…
Hey Grey, please rank the first three in order regardless of position and for the rest of season.
Colvin, Ruiz, Reynolds, Hardy, Alvarez
Thanks
Colvin, Ruiz, Pedro
@Grey, thanks. Now please throw Wilin and Perez into the mix aswell. Would that change anything?
And: Plouffe or Hardy ROS?
Perez, Plouffe…
I’m on my phone so not sure what mix you mean…
@Moscowitz, Home now: Plouffe, Colvin, Ruiz, Perez, Pedro, Hardy…
Better keeper in a 10 team h2h with mi ci. Same keeper cost. No limit on years a guy can be kept.
Hanley or Adam jones
Hanley
Here’s one for you:
Colvin or Markakis, rest of season?
Colvin
nice .
there goes mcdonald’s start .
@chata, nope were still here! Dealin!
@prezii,
unreal .
@chata, thats the first time ive watched his start from beginning to end.. his control is what stands out.. he looked like he could throw amy pitch, anywhere.
@prezii,
haha .
i always watch his games , as i have him in 2 leagues and always
start him .
this time , however , when they started to pull the tarps out , and saw the amount of rain , i switched channels .
but not before the announcers mentioned that there were more storm “cells” on their way .
i stuck around long enough to watch the bucs 9th sell-out crowd try and run for cover from the down-pour .
by the time i got back (there was some napping involved) , the relief pitcher had just come on , and mcdonald had already recorded those 10 K’s .
there are those here , (and i don’t really want to mention steve and grey by name) that will tell you that mcdonald recorded those 10 K’s BECAUSE i was not watching the game .
i lend no credence to their “mysticism theories” .
but , in case YOU do ,
you’re welcome .
Greinke ejected for spiking ball after a close play at first.
Damn, that sucks…
Cliff Lee and Joe Nathan for Strasburg….which side wins?
@C.O.C., Lee if you need saves…
Fister should be dropped in 12-man leagues, right? Another poor outing today against the Royals.
@Derrick, Yup
Hallday and uggla
For
Trumbo and craig… Tryin to take my babies!! Haha who wins grey?
@prezii, Ha… I’d take Uggla/Halladay
Lawrie left game with lower back tightness.
@VinWins, Sounding serious?
@Grey, They said just precautionary, but it always sounds serious to me.
Probably be fine on the other side of the ASB…
which side would you want? is it close? 5×5 roto 13 teams.
breet myers, broxton, Elvis Andrus for cole hammels
@aj, Hamels… It’s close…
White Sox have 6 rookies in the bullpen. Thornton tied them together and led them by the rope to the bullpen before the game.
@VinWins, Ha!
Man, the Jays are aggressive baserunners, but not smart ones. Bautista out trying to stretch a gift double (Viciendo lost ball in the sun) into a triple, down 2 in the 9th.
@VinWins, I thought he was safe.
@Howard, Yeah, he probably was, but 99 times out 100 they call him out when the ball is there in plenty of time. It just wasn’t worth the gamble since they needed 2 runs. I love the aggressiveness, but Lawrie and Rasmus have been caught stealing a few times when they really shouldn’t have been running. I suppose it’s the same on all teams. I see the Jays all the time so I probably just think it’s worse.
McDonald pitching a gem today, glad I got him in the Cashner deal last week!
Nice!
Did you and rudy ever decide on the term for a hitter getting a boost because he’s at coors?
Rudy liked Coora correction but we never settled on it…
*Coors correction
@Grey, How about ‘Coors Right’?
Eh, it’s okay…
@Grey, I will still lobby for bichetter!
I might like that better too…
@Grey, Its mine and I have no life!
Matt Moore is terrible right now. I’ve tried to move him about 10 times with no luck. Is he dropable?
@Derrick, I might have convinced someone to give me Dunn for him. *Crosses fingers*
In ten team leagues, potentially…
Fuck you Valverde. Fuck YOU.
Ugh, I know… Why can’t I have anything nice?
@Grey, cause it comes from Detroit, what do you expect. Haven’t you seen seen Hardcore Pawn?
Yeah, seriously…
@Grey,
you must be a joy , around the thanksgiving table .
“I’m thankful for …. “
@chata, He’s probably thankful for my owning Valverde in our RCL.
Stanton’s having knee surgery, out for a month. On the bright side, I just got him from my brother-in-law, who up until this point has had the worst luck this year. Nice to see his luck is turning!
@royce!,
yet , he got a hit , today .
stanton , not your brother-in-law .
p.s. steve should have taken you on vacation with him .
@chata, That hit will have to tide me over for the next 3-6 weeks…but you’re right, Steve should have taken me on vacation with him. Ingrate!
Dah, worst news ever…
what is longoria’s problem ??
took him with the 17th pick in my dynasty .
fortunately , i backed him up with moustakas , at #129 .
in my keeper league , i took moustakas @ #96 .
this kid has a shot at 30 HRs and 100 RBI .
meanwhile , tim mccarver showing his ignorance during a discussion of
darnell mcdonalds possible “donation” to Locks of Love , during the
yankees/sawx game 2 .
when are they going to get this stupid ass off the air ??
maybe THIS is reason enough for all of you facebook and twitter people
to finally do some good .
rally around THAT , you high-tekkies .
is this really the position that FOX TV wants to take on Locks of Love ??
dump mccarver , now !
Great… The Prince Formerly Known As A Slugger is getting in a groove just in time for the All-Star Break. Yay…
@Awesomus Maximus,
let’s hope he doesn’t lose his groove , as a result of the derby .
Drop Bernadina or Abreau? Nl only
4×4 keeper.
Thanks
Abreu
Moore droppable in an 8 teamer? He’s shit.
Scott over Pena? Or stand pat?
Yup… Scott…
Pick 2:
Frenchy / Luke Scott / Maybin / Daniel Murphy / Garrett Jones / McGehee / Ruggiano / Brandon Moss
Thanks
Jones, Ruggiano
*pats grey on the back*
Long story short, I’m stacked at CI since picking up Rizzo and don’t have enough spots to start everyone (Hosmer, Sandoval, Moustakas, Goldy, Rizzo). I’ve been trying to give one of them away to upgrade my pitching, and was finally offered a reasonable trade: Cliff Lee/Kimbrel for my Moustakas/Gallardo/R. Soriano.
Is it safe to pull the trigger? Lee seems like he should turn it around, but he’s been pretty bad lately…
Looks decent…..
3 innings later , mccarver issued a statement .
said that Locks of Love was a fine organization ,
and that he didn’t mean to make fun of them .
NOT ENOUGH , fox tv .
mccarver needs to be gone .
That’s pretty hilarious…
I went to the zoo today with my girlfriend and her niece. It was hot as balls (it was in Miami), but fun nonetheless. We even got to feed Chris Young’s family some lettuce.
Anyways!
Any of these guys an add over Thome?
Kendrick, B.Moss, Lind, LoMo.
Ha… They must be proud of their papa, he’s pitching well… Lind….
Denied that halladay and uggla deal.. guy accepted my rasmus and hellickson for lester tho! Did i do okay coach??
You did okay…
Boesch, Frenchy, QBerry, Fowler, Saunders, David Murphy, Colvin, Aoki, Delmon Young or Robot Jones to replace Stanton?
Second, do you like whoever you just chose more than Mark Reynolds ROS?
Thanks, Grey!
Throw Ruggiano and Scott in there, too…
Frenchy… Yeah…
Is Uggla a buy low or is he toast for the year?
@Wilsonian, i tried to get excited over him too.. member last year when he got white hot with that hitting streak outta no where? But hes battin 7th and it just doesnt look pretty..
@prezii, Yeah. That’s kinda why I was looking at him. But he’s hitting .106 over the last month. I’ve got Phillips at 2nd now. He’s been much better, but still not lighting things up too much. I know the Uggla owner wants to deal him, but I’m not sure it’s worth a shot.
Ouch thats terrible.. if you want him i doubt you would have a hard time getting him. And for power potential alone id go for it.. probably get a good deal just might have to wait thru some sucking before he gets it goin again.. seripusly like a #5 pitcher would land uggs at this point..
@prezii, Yeah. I’m thinking of making an offer right now for him. Just don’t know what to offer. That power potential is tempting. But damn, he’s been god awful.
@Wilsonian, he was pretty awful before that hitting streak too, man. Its really just a matter of how you feel, but i would start pretty low if you are gonna send offers out.. we’ll see what mr albright says about it tho..
I’d buy him low…
@ the Giant Moan :
my latest response to prezii (#104) , reminded me that you are on vacation
(without royce) .
so then i figured that you’re prolly drinking some mystic heated wine , about now , and remembered following your link to Aratiatia Rapids , which led me to youtube and one of my favorite door’s songs .
so , hope you enjoy …. and are having a nice vacation .
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i27t5txCrwg
Pls rank for tomorrow:
Colon v SEA
McAllister v TB

You ranked them…
Actually… Go McAllister first…
rest of the year Mc Donald or Johan? would you try to move Johan?
McDonald… Sure…
Rehab double sparkakis!
Which Twin is more likely to get steals tomorrow – Mastroianni or Dozier?
Dozier
J. Upton for Grienke fair? Who would rather have in a vacuum?
It’s fair… Upton…
You’re right about worst news ever on Giancarlo, shizzzzzz. I now have both him and Tulo DL’d in my H2H 16 team league, don’t normally post my roster but I was wondering if I should make a trade or if I can survive for another month and still make the playoffs when they should be back (im currently 2nd):
C- Yaz Grandal
1B- A-Gonz
2B- Cano
3B- Lawrie
SS- J-Roll
MI- Ever-Cab
CI- Freeman
OF- DJ (Jennings)
OF- Swish
OF- Revere
OF- Moss
Util- Belt
Good enough to survive till they’re back or would you try and shop one for reinforcements?
Looks like it can survive…
Ugh. Stanton. Ruggiano or G. Jones to fill in?
Ruggiano
thoughts on dropping someone for ruggiano or am i too late to hop on the hot streak?
C- Salvador Perez
1B – Lind
2B – Phillips
3B – Plouffe
SS – Reyes
OF – Hamilton
OF – Crus
OF – BJ Upton
Util – Uggla
Bench: LaRoche, Rasmus
DL: Longoria
You have no one to drop…
Berkman, Craig, Lee, Pagan, or Markakis for Util in H2H points league ROS?
Craig
Heads up everyone: Greinke is going to start today’s game, not Estrada.
Thanks for the heads up!
Roenicke says Greinke will not go deep into game so likely see Estrada in relief. Estrada was scheduled starter today
Gotcha
Hey Grey, i would like to drop Hardy for Ruiz but the thing is in that league, i only have limited number of moves and i have used four fifth of them already! I need Ruiz to replace Napolis sorry ass for a while. Plouffe is occupying the SS spot but if he goes down (for whatever reason, be it injury or just cooling off) and i drop Hardy, then there are not many valuable FA shortstops out there because i think Hardy will be taken off waivers as in my league people are playing worse shortstops. What do you think? Just bench Hardy for a while or go for Ruiz and hope for the best?
Thanks a bunch
Hold
@Grey, Thanks again
Pls rank at 2B for the 2nd half?
12 team H2H points:
D. Murphy
N. Walker
R. Weeks
@EK, Pls include K. Johnson and Uggla as well.. thanks
@EK, i would take Uggla ahead of the rest on that list without hesitation. After Uggla its a tough call though.
Uggla, Johnson, Walker
Walker, Weeks…
Grey, take a look at my team: who would you offer for Justin Upton in a keeper league?
C Posey
1B AGon
2B Cano
3B Zimmerman
SS Desmond (Tulo*)
MI Rollins
CI Lawrie
OF Jennings, Kendrick, LoMo, Frenchy (Stanton*, Berkman*)
DH Hosmer
Bench: Espinosa, Belt, Chris Davis
SP Bum, Zimmermann, Anibal, Lester, Capuano, Milone, Hughes, Oswalt
RP Jansen, Frieri, Putz, Casilla/Romo, Cook
@Jon, Belt and Lester? Zimm and Davis? Lomo and Milone? No idea what the other team needs…
Mind to tell me which side of these two trades you prefer? Both keeper league.
Worley for Ike Davis
AGon for Hanson, Heyward
@Jon, Ike… A-Gon… Hanson/Heyward is fair if you need an OF and SP…
The frustration of Frazier continues. Does he ever get regular playing time or does Rolen have to retire? I don’t think any club would trade for the defensive specialist.
Rolen has to get hurt or retire…
@Grey, should I just let frazier go?
Depends on for what…
13 team 5×5 roto…start Bauer today? who would you want cain or cole hamels
Cain… I’d sit him…
Good to see McCann found his groove right at the ASB…
Yup, looks that way…
I just did this trade…i still have 2 closers after the trade and a large lead with saves. 13 team 5×5 roto. Did i do ok getting cain
Receive Matt Cain,
Receive Pedro Strop,
Send Elvis Andrus,
Send Adam Lind,
Send Brett Myers,
Send Jonathan Broxton,
Send Casey Janssen,
@aj, Looks decent…
Aviles, A. Escobar, and Bonifacio. How would you rank for the rest of season?
@Mrhappytime, Bonifacio, Alcides
Aviles, Aybar, A. Escobar, and Bonifacio. How would you rank for the rest of season?
@Mrhappytime, Same
Would you deal Phillips for Uggla straight up?
@Wilsonian, It’s okay if you wanna gamble on a bounce back…
So, who’s the add in MIA? Cishek?
Yeah, I’d try him…
@Eddy, Oviedo returns July 22
How would you rank these guys for the ROS:
Niese, Burnett, Bauer
W, L, SV, ERA, Whip, Ks, Ks/9
And would you rather have Moustakas, Colvin, or Goldy for the ROS for UTIL?
Burnett, Niese… Moustakas…
@Grey, Where would you put Pedro in with those guys?
Last…
You doing a 2nd half rankings again? Those are my favorite posts. If so, when can we expect them?
FWIW, you are really good at what you do.
Thanks! Tuesday…
i need a 2-3 pitchers for the 2nd half. 12 team mixed roto. usual cats, plus L and gidp. can you give my your top 3 or 4 sp’s in order of preference out of:
quintana, bucholz, morales, fiers, leake, wood
current sp’s: sale, wainwright, mcdonald, bauer, doubront
not sure if on my last two are going to survive in the 2nd half…
thanks!
Morales, Leake, Fiers…
@Grey, oops, fiers is owned…who do you like of these guys then after leake:
quintana, bulchoz, wood?
Buchholz
I am completely unnerved about McCutchen and Joey Bats participating in the HR Derby. Cutch has been my joy all season long and Bautista has been steadily heating up since early May, but the Derby strikes fear in the heart of good mechanics and routine. Anyone else out there a little worried?
@Chillmodious,
see # 159 (below)
i forgot to hit the reply button .
I’d be more concerned about McCutchen, since he’s not a home run hitter…
@Grey, (and @chata below),
…and I am indeed most concerned about McCutchen. If ESPN wanted to totally redeem itself in my eyes for the past 8 years, it would have the decency to make a late push for Bryce Harper over McCutchen in the Derby. Otherwise, I’m hoping for a very early exit.
Yeah, hopefully he’s out after the first round… Our luck, he’ll win the thing then have his career go into an Abreu type tailspin…
@Grey, Noooooo! That possibility is my worst nightmare (well, that and a marry/screw/kill scenario involving Oprah, my first girlfriend, and Barbara Walters). Just the thought of sweet baby Cutch bathing in the dirty waters of Abreu makes me incredibly sad.
Ha… Let’s hope that isn’t the case then… But S’ing Oprah may not be that bad…
of all the participants in the home run derby ,
i think cutch is the one to be the most worried about .
if i was the owner/manager of the pirates ,
i wouldn’t let him participate .
thoughts on this trade? 10 team h2h 5×5 keeper with mi ci, round in parenthesis, 10 keepers per team. im looking to win it all and trading with a guy looking to rebuild.
prince fielder (3rd rd)
alex rios (25th rd)
chris davis (25th rd)
jarrod parker (25th rd)
for
hanley (3rd rd)
halladay (7th rd)
wainwright (7th rd wont be kept)
joe nathan (13 rd wont be kept)
Trade’s fair… Hanley side by a smidge…
@Grey: Ike, Robot, Ruggiano or LoMo to fill in for Stanton?
Ruggiano… For now…
Who do you like for a 1)keeper and 2)ROS:
Ruggiano
Belt
JD Mart
Belt for both…
The Yoenis mystery has officially been solved… his first name is pronounced “Chipper.”
He does seem to have his issues, huh?
@Grey, He got issues like Kleenex got tissues. I can’t seem to drop him, though.
Yeah, I hear ya… Nice combo of power/speed and the inability to stay healthy…
@Grey: In a 12 team mixed dynasty league should I try to buy low on Lincecum as a spot 5th starter/bench player for future years of production??? Would cost me Latos (his offer) or Hanson (my counter). Thanks!
I could see going with Hanson but it’s only for future years…
Adrian Gonzalez taken out of tonight’s game in the 3rd. No DL stint is expected, as it was just flu-like symptoms. His owners still suffer from an upset stomach and indigestion.
Ha… Yup…
Weekly waiver run in an hour. I wanted to pick up a pitcher. I take it from all of the comments above that you would rank these guys:
Leake, Fiers, Milone, Wood… right?
I’m locked in a fierce battle for K’s? Stick with Leake or are one of the other guys worth the risk?
Thanks dude.
Stick with Leake…
@Grey, So you’re saying instead of Leake, I should drop Bauer, who I’ve had on my bench for 5 weeks awaiting his call-up, for Fiers?
Don’t drop Bauer…
One more. Can you please rank Belt, Colvin, or Parmaseano Ruggiano, and LoMo for RoS?
Thanks again.
Colvin, Belt…
So (my) J-Zimm lose a win thanks to a home run by Eric effing Young Jr and then a wild pitch.
Perez blows a (my) McAllister win.
Estrada gets his start skipped and then the Brewers can’t take the lead when he does get in the game.
I lose OBP by .001 when Hamilton gets an intentional walk in the 13th.
Sonavabenched by Rasmus and Betancourt.
And that was just today.
I know I complain a lot here (I admit it), but it’s my only outlet…
Damn, tough breaks there… How’s the vacay treating you?
@Grey, All good. Not doing much which is kinda nice. Perfect weather, but cold. Below freezing at night and not much above 50 during the day. Primo winter weather.
Crappy h2h week. Gonna be a struggle to make the playoffs this year I reckon.
@Grey, Take Maholm for a spin v ARI on Friday?
Soriano’s 3 Ks brought me from 2 back to the W for the week on ks…but alas, it wasn’t enough for the overall W for the week. Hadn’t lost since the first week of the season. Losing Stanton for the next 4-6 weeks is going to hurt though…
That sucks… Ugh, I know with Stanton…
