I was offered Stephen Drew, Jacob Ellsbury and Chase Headly for Snider, Elijah Dukes and E. Encaracion in a keeper league. Headly wouldn’t be a keeper, but Drew and Ellsbury seem like the best players in the immediate future. Should I take this deal?

Nah – they just had a minute to fill in the late news.
I used to work in tv (sports) news and you were always looking for quirky stuff or spectacular footage to fill gaps when needed.
I always used to get baseball in there when I could.

@Jimmy ray: I'd keep the closers that were worth it. If I had 3 closers that were all quality and I didn't have any other worthwhile guys, then I'd keep three. Though I'd try to only keep two at the most. In a ten team league, three closers kept seems excessive, but everyone's team is different. With Stewart at 2nd, I'd go with Slowey.

I’m sorry, I meant to ask how many closers would you keep, sorry about that. BTW my minor leaguers are snider, ian stewart and either alcides escobar or keven slowery. I plan on playing stewart at 2b…thanks

@Jimmy ray: I'd keep the number of guys that will actually be productive in 2009, so I'd have to know the keeper possibilities to say how many I'd keep. If you had 13 + 3 Minor Leaguers that were all worth keeping, I'd keep them. Though I might be more stringent on who I'd be keeping in a ten team league.

Thanks Grey! In our league we have 13 major league Keepers and 3 Minor league Keepers are kept.. Under our league rules perez can be kept as a minor leaguer this off season! Lots of owners are keeping more than one closer, I know of one owner keeping 3!! I am keeping two, nathan and broxton. This is a 10 team league. How many keepers would you keep in a league like this?

I just traded for snider (chris perez) this weekend. I am only counting something like 350 ab. Lots of rumors swrilling of the jays going after milton bradley….I bet snider will open the year at AAA and be a May/june call up. Your right Grey, caution is the key word!

@Shogun: I agree with your order -- Bruce, Davis then Snider. Bruce might give you the least amount of home runs, but his other numbers should all be better. Davis will prolly give you the most home runs, but I worry about his average and he won't give you any steals. Snider has the most rookie downside and would only peg him in for Davis's 2008 numbers. @Doug Ault: I agree that Snider could be a bright spot in 2009. I just wanted to make sure I cautioned people properly. He's still only rookie with rookie obstacles ahead of him. @Eric W: If he's only going for $6 million, some people most have got cold feet on him (maybe cause they had to take their shoes off at the door -- oofa!)

@Doug Ault: Yeah, it's a foregone conclusion among fans that Burnett is going to tank wherever he ends up, but teams are still willing to overpay him. Whoever overpays him the most, and ends up with him, will regret it.

several Japanese media outlets are reporting Junichi Tazawa is going to sign with the bosox for around $6 million. I just hope he can live up to his fellow countryman Kei Igawa and wear sunglasses well he pitches so i have something to laugh about if he gets shelled

I watched my share of Snider this year,he’s a lock for 500 ab’s if he stays healthy.Snider may end up being one of the few bright spots on the Jays this coming season,other than watching Burnett tank for whoever signs him,and he will.

Grey, You’ve gotta draft Bruce over Snider this year, right? I’m actually thinking Bruce might have a big breakout year. I’d draft Bruce, Davis, Snider, in that order. What order would you take them in?
