By: Micrula Fri, 18 Mar 2011 22:11:01 +0000 Am I missing something here… I’m new to the site but here is an example of one of the few things on this list that boggles my mind.
Carlos Lee 65/24/75/.260/3 from first base (a very deep position)
Adam (PACman) Jones 85/25/95/.295/12 from OF (a not so deep position)
Without using a magic 8 ball how do you justify ranking Lee higher when you project him to underperform Jones in every statistical category. Are weight and age categories in your Roto cause that’s all I see Lee having on a guy like Jones.
Or are you just trying to make sure we’re paying attention

By: AdamH Sun, 13 Mar 2011 21:35:24 +0000 Grey, are you taking into account holds in these rankings? Would you draft those MR roughly in those spots even without holds?

By: M.D. Fri, 11 Mar 2011 15:51:31 +0000 hey grey – any update on a Joe Nathan projection or is that too premature? Seems like he might be the closer to begin the season…

By: Steve Tue, 08 Mar 2011 20:52:54 +0000 @Duke: If you ask this in the current post, I’m sure Grey will be only too happy to answer.

I’m guessing he’ll say the rankings are calibrated more for roto than H2H, but saying that, they won’t change too much.

By: Duke Tue, 08 Mar 2011 19:55:30 +0000 In a 20 team H2H,standard 5×5 cats,Yahoo re-draft league,how viable would you consider your top 300 to go by for drafting?Is that top 300 more Roto friendly than H2H?Cheers

By: old rungo Sun, 27 Feb 2011 21:48:20 +0000 Grey- love the site, quick question- A. Soriano vs. Garret Jones- you’ve got Soriano ranked ~80 spots higher than Jones, but he’s not better in any particular category- is this due to higher potential upside for him? Or his guaranteed playing time? Thanks

By: Jackson Thu, 24 Feb 2011 19:11:18 +0000 Grey: Fantastic site. Question – 5×5 (obp instead of average), 12 teams, 5 keepers (wright, gonzo, holliday, hamilton, latos): what do you think of my ranking of the top 15 available players:
1. McCann
2. BJ Upton
3. Andrus
4. Rollins
5. Jeter
6. C. Young
7. Hamels
8. Weeks
9. Ellsbery
10. Gardner
11. Victorino
12. Liriano
13. Gallardo
14. Rios
15. Rasmus
16. Oswalt
17. Carpenter

By: Titan Sat, 12 Feb 2011 17:54:09 +0000 Thanks for the rankings Grey! Nice job…

are these guys just outside the top 300 or are the bums this year?

P: Jurrjens, Floyd, Pineiro, Kuo, Wolf, Garland, Westbrook, Baker, Braden, Slowey, Dickey, Porcello, Happ, Drabek, Stauffer

B: Aybar, Encarnacion, Loney, Thome, Matsui, Joyce, Seth Smith, Mclouth, Maybin, Wiggington, JD Drew, Mags

Just curious if you had 2 cents worth on any of this group?

By: Chupacabra Wed, 09 Feb 2011 20:09:02 +0000 Manny at #120? That’s optimistic.

By: Steve V Wed, 09 Feb 2011 01:29:15 +0000 Auction league and I can keep five. Who do you choose:
Dunn -$13
Lester – $16

By: Exactly Tue, 08 Feb 2011 22:35:11 +0000 what’s your rationale for ranking Colby Lewis 180 when you have him projected to be better than most guys ahead of him? Lack of confidence?…thinking more like 150.

By: TimS Tue, 08 Feb 2011 21:25:08 +0000 glad it turned my Rd 8 into a smiley face haha

By: TimS Tue, 08 Feb 2011 21:24:05 +0000 @Grey: I just did this mock draft on yahoo and i think my only real problem is gonna be average, what do you think? Thanks for all the help, love the web site.

By: volcano13 Tue, 08 Feb 2011 19:16:57 +0000 I notice that only one Indians starter makes the list – Carrasco. I’m an Indians fan and a realist (pessimist?) so I can’t disagree with this. I have no plans on drafting any on my fantasy teams this year, and I have no confidence in them in “real” baseball either. I’m just wondering why Carrasco (probably 4th starter) makes the list above Masterson/Carmona. Do you have projections for the latter two? Again – not arguing – just curious what your numbers for them would be and why.

By: Grey Tue, 08 Feb 2011 19:02:12 +0000 @Craig: Keep Wainwright.

By: Craig Tue, 08 Feb 2011 18:56:05 +0000 Cargo, A-Gon, Youk, A-Rod (we play MI, CI and 4 OF)

By: Grey Tue, 08 Feb 2011 18:55:56 +0000 @peter: No problem.

@Steve McQueen Latifah: I’d take the A-Gon side.

@Craig: Not crazy, but don’t know who else you’re keeping. All OFs? Guys with speed?

By: Tony Tue, 08 Feb 2011 18:53:19 +0000 @wilsoniam: ya probly not for J-up, i immediately thought BJ before…

@Craig: who are your other 4 keeps?

By: Craig Tue, 08 Feb 2011 18:51:02 +0000 Last of 5 keepers (no other pitchers so far): McCutchen or Wainwright? Am I crazy to throw back Wainwright?

By: Steve McQueen Latifah Tue, 08 Feb 2011 18:49:19 +0000 need some advice: i’ve been offered crawford and agon for teixeira, lester and cruz. i’m hesitant to pull trigger but i feel like i’m being stupid.

By: royce! Tue, 08 Feb 2011 18:42:57 +0000 @Jon: Yeah, I have a vague memory o creating a fake league until the commissioner in my league got his shizz together. I suppose I’ll do that.

By: wilsoniam Tue, 08 Feb 2011 18:42:36 +0000 @ tony: j-upton for mcC.

By: peter Tue, 08 Feb 2011 18:38:56 +0000 @Grey: Great – thanks!

For those of you in auction leagues, it’s absolutely worth reviewing Grey’s auction strategy post from last year:

By: Grey Tue, 08 Feb 2011 18:36:51 +0000 @Taftball: Thanks for the kind words! Phillips, Pence…

By: Jon Tue, 08 Feb 2011 18:34:25 +0000 @royce!:

I am commish of a league so I am looking at Yahoo’s pre-draft rankings. Not sure how you view them if you are not in a league, sorry.

By: Taftball Tue, 08 Feb 2011 18:32:58 +0000 Love the site Grey! With Wright, Yoooouuuuk, Justin Upton, Ubaldo, and Tommy Hanson as my keepers, which two of these players should i target….

B.J. Upton

By: Jon Tue, 08 Feb 2011 18:32:53 +0000 @Eddy:

You are right, they do jump certain players. On the other hand, I believe that Liriano was buried last year and they didn’t jump him much at all.

Other bargains:

346. Frank Francisco
362. Jake Peavy (okay not much of bargain here)
889. Ryan Kalish
902. Eric Patterson
925. Lorenzo Cain
1075. JP Arencibia
1123. Brandon Belt

By: royce! Tue, 08 Feb 2011 18:30:01 +0000 @Jon: How are you viewing the full rankings? Do you have to sign up for a league or do a mock? I had this problem last year and I can’t recall how I fixed it.

Anyone else know how one accesses the full Yahoo rankings?

By: Grey Tue, 08 Feb 2011 18:29:40 +0000 @peter: Next couple of days…

@Frank Rizzo: No problem.
