Why is Zimmerman ahead of Reynolds in terms of 3rd baseman but ranked behind Reynolds overall (top 20)?

I think that projection for Beltre is right on and since #b is weak this year ill have to consider him as backup plan. Also among other problems didnt he play through bad thumb ligament? Or maybe that was previous year –im older than dirt.

@bobbo: Johnson and CC(you should know that I am a Yankee fan though, broke my fathers heart) Wainwright had a good year and pitches in the NL but he doesn't K as many as CC and just like a bowl of peanuts at a dive bar, Peavy seems to be a permanent health risk.

@big o: I’m with ya on AROD unseating PUJOLS by years end… he’s a clear cut #3 on my draft board… people would go nuts if you took him over AROD and AP, but i could easily justify it, between the stats he can put up and 3B eligibility…. he’s as good a candidate to take over as any…

i’m assuming that you’d like to keep this “outside the box” conversation
with the confines of a standard-issue 5×5 roto vanilla ,
(and i really don’t care if you view that world with either one or two catchers … take your pick) .
because different types of leagues (h2h’s , cbs points scoring , suicide leagues , etc) have different scoring parameters and , thus , require different draft strategies .
there are no hard and fast rules .
try as you might , you won’t be able to apply a mathematical model that will ensure you 100 % success .
what’s important , to me , is that i become aware of the changing values within these universes .

back to roto :
here’s a box theory for you ===>
i’m taking a-rod with the 1st pick , if at all humanly possible .
(obviously my chances improve , if i get one of the 1st 3 picks …. less so , with pick # 4) .
round 3 or 4 , i will look for a votto or a kendry , but even morneau will be available then …. if you prefer him) .
given the synergistic properties/values , this will easily out-perform
any team with hanley ramirez on it .
hell , i’ll even argue that a-rod has more value , and will out-produce
pujols , heads-up .

and , NO , i won’t be taking a pitcher in the 2nd round .
and no i won’t be targeting an ian in the 10th .
nor a dreaded pirate in the 13th .
that’s just too rigid for me .
i’ll see what happens when i get there .

In Grey's 1st posted mock (which he thought was great and most agreed with), Stewart 3B pick round 8. In his last, Headley. There are other options. Definitely not a must. Look at Grey's top 5 from his last. I like that approach better myself. Just trying to give you the alternative to think outside the "must" box.
