I liked it in part because it had no real story arc. The film wasn’t about a narrative, it was about conveying emotions. That is Terrence Malick’s gig, and he really went with it this time around. It’s wonderful every once in a while to get a film where someone really pushes the medium as an artform in different ways. Not every movie needs to be Drive or Source Code, both films I also enjoyed.

I hesitate to say you went into the movie “wrong,” because how the hell would I know that, but I think people expecting a three act story would be immensely disappointed with it.
