040Did you hear the one about how so-and-so is no longer a closer but this guy is but he’s not anymore because the other guy is now? Well, you’re about to. Herewithin (which I don’t think is a word, but should be), we go around to every bullpen and then make up teams and make up closers for those made-up teams and talk about those too. Oh, and we talk about some other shizz like David Wright, Jeff Samardzija and Frank Shamrockitto (okay, I made up that last name). But it’s all here and more (mostly closer talk though). What is the concensus strategy on handcuffing relievers, is it better to have insurance for your own closers, or gamble on someone else’s? Basically, I have Street, and I’m holding Adams and Pestano. Should I drop one of those two for Cashner?
Six of one… I’d prefer to have the most likely handcuff to take over or best stuff… I’d take Adams first there… Then Cashner…

I would be left only with Aceves as an RP, should I still pull the trigger? I could always slot some starting RP’s into that slot though (Samarjda, Harrell, Doubront, etc)

Grey : Great, another 0-4 day, how long do you hold on to Youk for, another 3 weeks or so? He was one of my keepers and I am starting to see a pattern of him sucking ass. Encarnacion is looking like an All Star compared to the crap he has been putting out. Don’t want to pull the trigger on an premature evacuation but my OBP can only take so much.

@Grey, Stitcher is a mobile app that lets you stream podcasts rather than download them. I use it at work all the time and it’s a godsend.
I’m pretty sure they just use whatever feed that goes to iTunes. Looks like there’s some info on their website here: http://www.stitcher.com/contentFAQ.php
Anyway, I’d love to see it there since that’s how I (and a lot of people these days) listen to podcasts.

And he happens to have lucked into two wins so far which payout nicely. I’m not convinced either of them ousts the current closers (Guerra or Marshall) very often if at all. Depends on the league set-up I guess, and your gut.

Shopping Buch in a 10-team league will be tough, most teams will have 5 pitchers they like better than him. I still like upside-guys like H rod, Lynn, Samardjaasdhgd more than bucholz. Hopefully your offense is insane.

Indeed. I think I’ma bench him. Sonavabench potential, for sure, but my thinking is: I’m a-scared of his 6.17 April ERA from last year. I’m also a-scared of the career .357 and .500 CarGo and Tulo hit off him, respectively, and the career team BA of .316 at Coors against him.
If he comes in fired up and pitches well, then I’m stoked bc it just took him one start to get dialed and we’re rolling with the homies the rest o’ the year. But if he’s perhaps not right, then this is where serrrrus damage happens, especially as we’ve only just begun this fine young season. It’s too early to get roofie’d by my #1…
