A friend of mine produced his new movie, Bad Actress, and, if you like these types of interviews, do us a favor and queue up the movie at Netflix. To get on a soapbox for a second (I won’t be on this soapbox too long because I get vertigo like Lidge), indie films don’t get distribution through main channels and now Netflix is pulling a Blockbuster and not even stocking indies unless the demand is great enough, so if enough of you queue it up, then Netflix might order it. If you queue the movie, it doesn’t even mean they’re going to send it to your house because they don’t even have it yet, so queue it up and then when it’s in stock do what you do. Basically, small businesses cater to an outside-the-box audience, and then they become a big business and stop doing what made them successful. Now when is ESPN buying us?! I’ve been on the losing end of picking up potential vultures… lidge, peralta, romo, etc. etc.
And my pitching seems to be stacked with the addition of lynn, and the way Gio, Beachy and CJ are pitching.
Also afraid Phillips is going to lose some steals for the time being with his hammy issue.
I may be over thinking this whole thing, but I countered with that. So, we’ll see what happens.

Hi guys: Have your opinions on Doumit changed much since the pre-season? You had him down for a projected line of 45/14/55/.260.
He’s my catcher in a 14-team 6×6 roto league, which makes him by far my weakest starting hitter. I’ve tried hard to upgrade to someone with more power, but haven’t found any takers no matter how hard I push. Do I need to keep trying? Ot is there a bigger hole to fill?
(I know I have plenty of speed and need power, pitching’s OK except I need holds. I was hoping I could answer the power need with a slugger like McCann but it’s not to be)

@Grey, Awesome, thanks. Out of curiousity, how do you come up with that number? Last year I was able to grab Stanton for $8 after he was dropped, but he was worth much more than that in retrospect.

@Grey, Yeah I got Stanton cheap, and he wasn’t even hurt! I also walked away with like $30 left over at season’s end though, so I can probably throw a bunch at Ellsbury and be fine.
I know you’re not a big fan of Darvish, but he’s turning into one of my favorite pitchers. According to one of the writers at Baseball Prospectus (article here: http://www.baseballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=16647) he has at least 8 different pitches, and possibly a 9th that was used for the first time last night, a shuuto pitch, which I guess is a reverse slider except it was 94-95 and completely unhittable. I watched the MLB highlight reel of his strikeouts last night and that pitch literally looked like a wiffle ball pitch.

Really needed a good start from CJ Wilson to offset the Cahilll and Santiago shit shows from earlier…not so much thus far. Hopefully he can right the ship and finish strong.
Hammel’s throwing nearly 94 MPH and is now primarily using a 2-seamer, and the pitch values for his fastball are positive. This after having a slower, straighter, and terribly rated fastball in Coors.
It’s early, but the improved velocity and different fastball are inducing lots and lots of grounders (career high GB rate of nearly 60%, career average 45%). If he keeps the improvement in GB rate, which is possible since he’s throwing a fastball that creates GB outs, that’ll cut down on the HR. He’s throwing his slider more frequently too, which is bringing more swings and misses and Ks. This is all in line with what he showed in spring.
It’s only been 25 innings or so, but he’s available in 85% of ESPN leagues. Something to watch.

His contact rates are fine, but he needs to retune his strike zone. It’s really out of whack.
