He is getting his chances but is doing nothing with them. Pill has more power and Bochy values that much more than base hits. He’s not making anyone miss; he’s allowing contact on pitches in the strike zone at a rate worse than Paul Maholm, Joe Saunders, Ryan Vogelsong, and Clay Buchholz, and only 5 guys are allowing more contact. His velocity is down, and since hitters aren’t chasing pitches out of the zone, he’s not striking anyone out.

Once his BABIP (.246) starts to look like his career rate (.308), he’s in trouble.

And I’m not trying to knock the guy. He’s my second starter in my money league.
