@Jon, Frieri has value NOW. 28 K in 16.1 IP; 10 K in 4.2 IP with the Halos. Oh, and his ERA is 1.65 and his WHIP is 0.98. But keep on chasing saves when you could be adding K’s and lowering your ERA and WHIP. Which isn’t to say that you should drop a closer, but if you have room to add Frieri I would do so.
I think it’s time to put some whiteout or something over the part of my screen that shows H/AB and AVG. It seems like every day I look they are hitting under .200 for the day.
I’m getting dangerously close to having the worst AVG of any of the 576 RCL teams, I think I’m 4th or 5th worst and dropping. The scary thing is that besides a couple guys I just picked up, the only guys projected to hit under .270 were Granderson and Heyward…….and yet the only guys on the team currently hitting over .270 are Beltre and Morales.

It does not fill me with pride to be dominant in this league compared to others but it is such a unique situation given that my team is so good I felt I had to ask just to see who my worst options were. I sound like a pompous douche after typing that but its the truth. I really didn’t know who to drop.

$280 5×5 keeper rotisserie league
Here is the set up: Team A announced before the draft this year that they wouldn’t be back next year, so this is their final year.
They just made the following trade:
Traded away from Team A (who won’t be back next year)
Sean Marshall $10 (contract =2)
Anibal Sanchez $7 (X)
Michael Morse $15 (2)
Traded away from Team B (currently in second place)
Andrew Cashner $5 (1)
Bobby Parnell $1 (1)
Mat Gamel $1 (2)
Definition of contracts statuses:
1 = drafted this year
2 = 2nd year of contract (meaning they could be kept at current salary next year or signed for additional years @ $5/yr)
X = Last year of contract, must be released after this year
Clearly Team B benefits from the deal this year. But why is a team that isn’t coming back next year making a “dump trade” for next year? If they are trading for next year… why are they giving away arguably the 2 best potential keepers in the deal?
Gamel is cheap, but has not proven anything in the majors and just blew out his ACL so may not even be ready to start the season next year and isn’t necessarily guaranteed a spot. Cashner and Parnell have potential but are merely lottery tickets at this point. On the other hand, Morse is a guy who has hit .300/30/95 last year and can be kept next year at $15, and Marshall actually currently owns the closer role, so may be a keeper next year if he can hold it all year.
I know Grey’s thoughts on protesting trades (and have read his awesome email suggestion). I myself am an adamant defender that you shouldn’t need to review or overturn trades just because they are “bad” deals. But I have also always given the caveat that if some sort of collusion is suspected then that is a different story. (BTW the league has been around for 20+ years and these two teams have been in the league maybe half that time and are buddies from back in high school).
Is it just me or does this deal seem suspicious? How can you explain this trade other than someone giving their buddy a sweetheart deal on the way out the door? Should I raise the issue with the commish or just let it drop? The whole thing is leaving a bad taste in my mouth.

He’s not making anyone miss; he’s allowing contact on pitches in the strike zone at a rate worse than Paul Maholm, Joe Saunders, Ryan Vogelsong, and Clay Buchholz, and only 5 guys are allowing more contact. His velocity is down, and since hitters aren’t chasing pitches out of the zone, he’s not striking anyone out.
Once his BABIP (.246) starts to look like his career rate (.308), he’s in trouble.
And I’m not trying to knock the guy. He’s my second starter in my money league.

@Timbuktu, The book seems to be out on Belt now and he is constantly over matched by soft stuff away…sliders especially. He is getting his chances but is doing nothing with them. Pill has more power and Bochy values that much more than base hits. Add to that Posey eating into starts with his ankle aching……….not good for Belt.
