@Jim Gilmore: Thanks for your post. We appreciate you taking the time to give us a glimpse of Cory as a person. Fantasy baseball tends to make us relegate the people into statistics or punch lines.

It's also nice to hear that he'd find this funny. We're big believers of the "If you don't laugh, you'll cry" school.

It's a tragedy what happened w/ Cory and we wish only the best for his wife, family, and friends.

Best regards,
Rudy

@Rudy Gamble: On that subject, Lima's Razztastic-ness and relative unattractiveness didn't stop him from finding a hot wife either, did it?

Its spelled, Cory Lidle.

Cory and I were very close friends. His 2nd stop on way home was to visit me in Mississippi. Cory would not mind these topics and would most certainly laugh.

He was a wonderful guy who treated those near him very well.

Cory went out of his way to make sure i was able to visit each and every ball park he ever played in. He also made sure that I understood not only baseball as a game, but, that I learned how the back-end of baseball really worked. from his contracts to how taxes are paid for each town you play in. You can never understand how much I miss such a friend!

Feel free to ask me sometime to tell you guys about the day/night that Barry Bonds hit to homers off Cory in one game. The time we spent after the game is very telling of just how great Cory Lidle really was as a private person. Or, the superbowl party Cory had at his home in Glendora Califonia and what he did for me and a small group of my friends during that party.

The aftermath of the event still goes on in the courts and will not end anytime soon. I remain amazed at how Melanie Lidle has handled all that she must now deal with daily.

I speak with Cory's mother once a week and I will be spending a few weeks with his family soon. I will be glad to pass this blog along.

Thank you for letting me be a small part of this and have a great time!

@101 M.P.H.: Thanks! Yeah, the Pete Rose Razzball Historical Spotlight (http://razzball.com/razzball-historical-spotlight-pete-rose-1983/) was a joy to write. Glad you liked it. There's a few other good ones in the ongoing series...Jose Lima, Billy Ripken, Brad Ausmus....

I have no idea how that's his daughter either. Maybe his wife fooled around with Steve Garvey instead....

@Rudy Gamble:

Rudy, after reading your post about Corey Lidle, I was inspired to read the article about Ivan Dejesus. This, in turn, led me to your treatise concerning Pete Rose and his razz-tastic 1983 season.

Allow me to say: that was the finest piece of journalism that I've had the pleasure of reading since the advent of the internet; an acerbic, irreverent, and appropriately distasteful condemnation of one of baseball's least lovable personalities since Ty Cobb.

A tip of the hat to you, sir.

P.S. That can't possibly be Pete Rose's biological daughter. How insanely hot would the mother have to be in order to transcend what appears to be at least 10 generations of inbreeding that account for Pete Rose's physical appearance?

P.P.S. I've copied the picture of Underwear Pete to my hard-drive, and I intend to use it as my icon for my yahoo fantasy baseball team.

There was a municipal councilor in my town who won an election 3 weeks after he died (choking on a scallop).

I'm projecting that Corey Lidle will have more fantasy value in 2009 than Mike Hampton.
