byrd takes ball 4 , but andrus gets caught stealing 3rd ,
even before byrd leaves the batters box .
so they make the guy walk down and touch 1st base .
(this according to cbs’ recap of today’s game)

byrd takes his base (ball four) after the 3rd out has already been recorded .
