@ujoh, I agree that guys like Upton and Stubbs are usually undervalued because of their avg. I like them too – I own them both twice each across my four money leagues. But with your team makeup, it would benefit you to move one of them for some more power. I’d try to deal whichever one of them has more perceived value in your league so you can maximize your return. Maybe a Reynolds type? You’d gain 15-20 homers in that one spot in your lineup, and only take a small avg hit. I like Cutch too, but I see closer to 20-25 homers from him. PNC Park is rough on right-handed hitters.

@Big Magoo, My only worry right now is Lawrie not being fully healthy, ever. So I wanted a backup. Morel might be hitting 2nd, too, so he might be a good backup for when Lawrie sits. I’m looking at dropping him for Arenado once things start to play out a little, or I may get itchy and do it soon.

Hi Grey, I asked a question this morning and it didn’t appear. I tried to re-load the same question and it said it had already been submitted. I assumed it needed some approval because it contained a web link (albeit one to a Razzball forum question I wanted to lobby you to weigh in on) but it never appeared. Did something strange happen today? Am I *gulp* blacklisted?

Anyway, there were two questions to my question.

First, does the news you reported above after reading it elsewhere about Perez mean it’s wise to drop Vinnie in a non-holds league? Am I better off with a decent setup man who might get saves like Glen Perkins or Henry Rodriguez?

And second, I have Doumit as my catcher in two semi deep (14 and 16 teams, mixed) leagues: one where I’m waiting for Jesus (Montero) to gain catcher eligibility and one where Doumit could stay on the roster all year. Mesoraco is available on waivers in both leagues … your post on him seemed to indicate he might start slow as he gets settled in. Does that make Mesoraco a bad choice to employ for the month or so it’ll take for Montero to gain eligibility? Should I switch out for Mesoraco in the league where I don’t have Montero to keep Doumit? I kind of liked the idea of Doumit playing some in DH and OF but there’s a buzz around Mesoraco.

@Wilsonian, I’d try to make room for him in a keeper. He has nobody blocking him in the bigs and he’ll be at least as good as Morel immediately (by June/July this year), and top 7-8 at third by 2014.

@Big Magoo, Upton gets no love in my league. I get made fun of for drafting him every year. His .230 AVG scares off everyone, despite the fact that he can go 20-30 in his sleep. I could deal Stubbs, but won’t get a “great” power bat in return. Speed seems to be easier to find this year than in years past. I also feel like Cutch will hit 30-30 this year, but that’s me being in love with my team and overprojecting everyone’s stats…..

I’d go with all bench arms, maybe one bat… Your league’s so shallow bench bats aren’t going to help much… If you want, try to trade Ethier and Ortiz for Gardner…
