Sure his MiLB K/9 is low, but the kid throws gas. I can see that K rate bumping up in time. The Toronto D looks solid behind him and their offense can score.

Milone – ehhhh… I had that start against KC in one league with a 1600 IP limit. Let someone else have him and his 0 K’s. I just dropped him for a waiver claim on Peralta. His upside is Buerhle with a terrible lineup behind him.

I hear your AL East vs. West argument Grey but I don’t think this is going to play out as it has in years past. I don’t think the Boston and Yankee lineups aren’t as strong as they’ve been, while Milone has to deal with Pujols and the improved Halos as well as the always tough Rangers.

Definitely agree with you. In fact, you took the words out of my mind! Milone was impressive last night, but Alvarez even more so, since he was facing a much more potent lineup (and Milone really got some help on the basepaths when Royals’ runners were cut down).

I definitely like the guy who throws harder. I figure that eventually he’ll make the adjustments to K more. And I think Grey is underestimating the strength of the AL West. I think it’s easily on par with that of the AL East. I don’t think Texas and the Angels are going to treat Milone’s soft stuff very kindly. They’re veteran lineups… they’ve seen that Jamie Moyer shizz before! :)

So yes, everywhere I could get him, I’m all in on Alvarez.
