@Crafty: I usually don't spot start Wakefield because of the unpredictability of the knuckleball, but I'd go for Wakefield too. He dominates them.

I almost feel like I have to do something high risk, high reward to have a chance to pull out more than 1 pitching category.

On a totally unrelated note, do you think Adam Lind has cooled off enough to replace him with Nelson Cruz? Other OFs are Markakis, Braun, and Rios, so they’re all staying put unless big slumps hit.

@drizzle21: I don’t like the Cain’s matchup against Haren, or the fact that Cain’s been atrocious his last few starts. He’s in the top ten on the sabermetricians’ “pitcher abuse index,” which basically means that Bochy has let him pitch until his arm got gangrene. I suspect he’s tired, or injured, and I wouldn’t start him the rest of the year unless you’re completely desperate.

Matt Cain has been pretty bad his last few starts. Is he worth the risk against the Diamondbacks tonight?

It’s the finals and my opponent’s staff includes Johan, CC, and Big Z, so it’s gonna be rough. I’m already starting Beckett tonight and had Lilly last night. The tie-breaker in our finals is ERA, and he and I have split both past match ups 5-5, so completing that trifecta wouldn’t surprise me.

Basically, does Cain give me solid innings with a chance to win?

@Grey: Funny, I never believed that till coming here but I do now. My pitching staff next year is already decided. I'm keeping Webb, Halladay, Billingsley, Hamels and Shields. I know we've gone over this but I just like seeing it on paper (so to speak). If Devine can be had for 5 or less I'm gonna draft him but may need one more starter. Any under the radar guys that may be had on the cheap off the top of your head?

If Harang pitches well on Wednesday and I need IPs, etc., would you trust him for 2 starts next week v. FLA and @ STL? Other options (Wellemeyer, J. Sanchez, etc.) are not looking very pretty.

@cubbies299: Francis, Sanchez, Wellemeyer, though I’m not really crazy about any of them and I wouldn’t touch Sanchez or Wellemeyer unless under dire circumstances. Francis should be safe.

re: Kazmir — Injury’s always a possibility with Kazmir, but there’s no word of that. I don’t think he’s going to give much value the rest of the way. The Rays are more or less in the playoffs and will begin to pull back on the starters, saving them for the playoffs.

Looking at the spot starts for tomorrow. I’m looking at Francis, Wellemeyer (who for some unknown reason I don’t trust), and Sanchez (against K-rizona)… thoughts? Also, thanks for the advice on Kuroda, he and Aceves helped cushion Kazmir’s implosion. Is he injured btw? He was giving out freebases like it was studio 54.
