1. Take the power back. 2. Come up with a well-defined standard by which you will veto trades. (Personally I let everything go through unless it’s obvious one guy has given up on the year and is trying to help another team without helping his own) 3. Post whatever you come up with to the league. 4. Stick to it.

I’m in a bit of dilemma and I want some sound advice.

In my league, we started the year with the commish (me) being the final say in trades. In the humblest way possible, I have the most knowledge in that league. I can easily see when a trade is far, if it’s lopsided, how it’ll help one’s team, etc. You could say I analyze everything beyond what the two trading managers do. Last month, a lopsided trade went through where I knew I should veto, but both managers consented. So I couldn’t say no, and I accepted it. I caught heat for it but oh well. The following day I put league-wide veto and that’s how it has remained to this date. 3 managers have voiced their disapproval of this setting but I thought it was fair and it took a huge load off my shoulders. In the month that we’ve had it, exactly what I feared would happen, happened. Alliances formed. Now any trade can get vetoed. This reached a breaking point last night where one manager lashed out after his trades were vetoed, and all of a sudden 3 of the pending trades were all vetoed.

My question: Should I keep it league-wide veto and know anything has a chance to get vetoed (fair or unfair) simply to spite the “other side of the league”? Or should I return to being the final say, but this time step in even if both managers consent and I think it’s unfair?

Any advice is greatly appreciated. his is my first time being commissioner and I want to get it right now to start fresh next season.

@Fanthead: Rios could be okay, I did used to like him until he disappointed me for two years in a row. Lots of players haunt me. Shields has been particularly annoying this year.

Obviously we all read you because 1. you are funny and 2. have great baseball insight. But even funny know-it-alls make mistakes, right? If that’s true, which, if any, of your Razzball judgments have kind of haunted you?

his Smoak/Helton/Lind/Nolasco for my Swish/Loney/Coghlan/Greinke

i threw Helton in the offer to crapify/entice. would drop him if it goes thru for someone like Tabata or Delmon. this is a 14t roto keeper w OBP, so Swish and Smoak are rated slightly better than standard.

i’m wavering bc of Coghlan — now that he’s starting to rake, i like him again. he could be nice the rest of the way. think this deal is pretty fair?
