@AL KOHOLIC: @Paulie Allnuts: Thanks guys for responding. I was a property appraiser by profession (tax man), so numbers are the core of my analysis. I don't have the "feel" for when a player gets hot, etc. That's one of the reasons this site is so valuable. Nevertheless, it's tough for me to set aside the numbers for opinion (even when it is spot on). I had considered making a move for Reynolds this week but didn't like his matchups this week (thought he would under-perform) and could still make the move later. Everyone was touting how hot "the minny-donkey" is. In 3 games this week he has 1 single, 1 HR, 2 runs, and 2 rbi--considerably under-performing from recent "hot". In any case, KNOW that I consider your knowledge and just gut instincts as worthy of LISTENING TO. Thank you!

“According to Baseball America, the Padres have promoted top hitting prospect Kyle Blanks from Triple-A Portland.
Blanks, 22, was hitting .283/.393/.485 with nine doubles, 12 home runs and 38 RBI for Portland. The 6’6″, 285 lb. slugger can play left field or first base. San Diego isn’t calling him up to sit on the bench, so there’s a strong chance he’ll gather some amount fantasy value. A corresponding move should be announced shortly.” –From Rotoworld….

I don’t think Blanks is going to be stellar this year. Playing the outfield will be atrocious for the Padres defense and will be like watching a catcher run the bases.

@Grey: For next weeks lineup would u replace Slowey (vs. Mil or Stl), Wainwright (vs. Mets or Twins) or Danks (vs. Dodgers or Cubs) with Hoffman? My other closers starting are Franklin & Jenks and my opponent has K-rod & Wood in for nxt week. I don’t want to start Hoffman but rather him than one of the other starters if you have a hunch one of them might get lit up!

sorry to repost this but I forgot to mention I might pickup Wolf if I can get the commish to remove the no cut list. So if I pickup Wolf we forget about Hoffman…so who do you put Wolf in for if any of them? Slowey, Danks, Wainwright?

@AL KOHOLIC: Even if he winds up relatively healthy, which is questionable at best, the Pod aren't going to compete for anything, and would have no reason to risk pitching Peavy, either if they wish to keep him for next year, or trade him (although his value is substantially lower then it was several weeks ago.) . So I believe, like you do, that he will not offer any owner anything of value for the remainder of the year. But I will hold on to him until Grey or Rudy or Yahoo gives the word.

@Simply Fred: I don't know if matchups in general are important with a player who is streaky as Hardy. I think that Hardy would go 0-5 against Ponson in a slump, and 4-5 against, say CC Sabathia when going well.
