@Steve: I think that's definitely true. Position eligibility is even more handy in a draft than in the actual season, b/c in a draft you're still picking your team. So if a guy you take early fits at 2 or 3 slots (like Miggy or Alexei or, I think, Berkman) that gives more flexibility to snatch someone late who falls in your lap. Conversely, taking a Util guy like Ortiz or Hafner really ties your hands later on. So don't do that.

@Grey: @waters96: Is it fair to say that any extra value lies in a little added flexibility that you have as the first 2-3 rounds unfolds? You could treat him as a 3B and maybe go Prince with your second pick (that's some weight at the corners there, boy), or consider him a 1B and perhaps go a top OF (Lee?) and then hope for A-Ram in the third. Cust kayin'.

@Grey: In Yahoo! he does, probably because he rounded 3rd once. I generally avoid Arlington pitchers and Petco hitters. Simplistic, I know, but I'm a simpleton. Exceptions in '09: Frank Francisco and, possibly, Chase "Max" Headley.

@Baron – I’m bad in math, but 93 is still the 8th round and in my three mocks, he’s been going no further than 10 picks below his pre-rank. But I can’t ignore the fact that if his ADP is 93, that means he’s dropping lower than that around half the time, which would send him to the 9th and make the pick more intersting.

@Baron – Good point. I’m actually looking at the pre-rankings. I don’t have the Yahoo ADP’s in front of me. But the main point I’m making is that Zimmerman is not going to be a late round sleeper. He won’t drop much below the 6th or 7th round due to Autopicking.

@waters96: Just curious — are you looking at the rankings, or the ADP?

In Yahoo!, you can go to Draft Central and see which rounds people are generally picking players. Right now, Zim’s avg pick is 93.2, putting him in the 8th round — which makes much more sense than the 6th.
