Romero Is No Joker
Stop the press. Who is that? Vicki Vale? Nope. Ricky Romero, Ricky Romero. Yesterday, Romero went 8 IP, 0 ER, 7 Ks with 8 baserunners. Let’s go in the Wayback Machine… Cue dream sequence music, activate wavy screen… Here we are back on April 20th, “(Romero’s) walks are very low (for him), and he’s left a lot of guys on base, so he will see a correction in his future (SMACK!), but his FIP is only 3.86 (now at 4.20). …Might want to try a little R & R. (POW!) Oh, and get Ben Zobrist right now even though he only has 3 homers.” And that’s me quoting me and making up a false quote about Zobrist! Pretty much all that holds true from back in April. Ricky Romero continues to get lucky with men he’s leaving on base, so that could turn around and bite him at any moment. But you really should own him at this point, though I wouldn’t start him in The Jetstream next time out. Slide, slide, slippity slide… The Jetstream! Anyway, here’s what else I saw yesterday in fantasy baseball:
Elijah Dukes – Frequent commenter, Doc said, “Dukes sent to AAA on Wednesday. Nats host Domestic Violence Awareness Day at Nationals Park on Friday.” Nats seem like they’re going from 5-tool outfielders to 1-tool — Dunn, Willingham… Maybe they can get Jack Cust to play center.
Sean Burnett – Gave up the game-tying homer to Cody Ross. Welcome to the Washington Nationals organization. If you wish to excel, you’ve come to the wrong place. Here you will either fail or be ignored when you succeed. Don’t bother with the life preservers. On his way out of town, Dukes punctured them all.
Kelly Johnson – Cox says Prado’s has won the starting job over Kelly Johnson. Bad year to be a Johnson or a Wang.
Alexei Ramirez – Hurt his middle finger and will have X-Rays. I’m preparing to give him my middle finger if he’s out for an extended time.
Mike Aviles – Out for the season with Tommy John surgery. As opposed to, out for the season with terrible stats as he had been.
Justin Morneau – Left yesterday’s game with a slight groin pull. Isn’t that what they booked Pee Wee Herman on? Word out of the Twin Cities is Morneau should be okay.
Brandon Webb – Here’s the good news, Webb doesn’t need season-ending surgery. Here’s the bad news, he’s not scheduled to pick up a baseball any time soon. Everyone’s talking about dropping Peavy, but I’d expect Peavy to return before Webb.
Josh Johnson – 3 1/3 IP, 1 ER, 9 baserunners and 1 debt of gratitude to Badenhop for bailing him out. Not to be a nervous Nelly and start putting Band-Aids on my face, but I hope Johnson wasn’t lackluster because of any sort of injury.
Leo Nunez – Got the save, Meyer got the vulture win. Who ya gonna call? Maroone!
Jordan Zimmermann – 6 IP, 2 ER, 6 Ks. Continues to pitch much better than his 4.52 ERA indicates.
James Shields – 7 1/3 IP, 4 ER, 8 Ks. Would’ve been too easy to take him out prior to the 8th inning when he had only given up two runs. *shakes fist at sky* Maddon!!!
Brad Bergesen – 8 IP, 1 ER, 6 Ks, 4 baserunners vs. the Sawx. High GB %, Low K Rate. Like a featherweight, he doesn’t knock opponents out as much as outlast them and wins on points. That’s serviceable enough if he’s fighting against pushover opponents in friendly confines like the NL West (see Cook, Aaron) but the heavy punchers of the AL East….forget about it.
Koji Uehara – Out with a tear in his elbow. Punt!
George Sherrill – 2/3 IP, 2 ER. With the trade deadline less than a month away, Sherrill’s auditioning for the job of Nats closer.
Mike Pelfrey – 7 2/3 IP, 0 ER, 6 Ks. Has been terrifically yawnstipating this year, averaging about 5 and two-thirds per start with a 4.26 ERA and 1.44 WHIP and no Ks.
Jason Hammel – 8 IP, 1 ER, 5 Ks, 5 baserunners. Has a 2.13 ERA away from home. I’ll say it again for the people in the back of the room, 2.13 away from Coors. Unfortunately, he’s at home for his next three of four starts.
Clayton Kershaw – 5 IP, 0 ER, 1 Hit. Hopefully Kershaw’s niche doesn’t remain these 5 inning affairs. Don’t want no short stint man.
Juan Rivera – HR yesterday as picks up in July as he was hitting in June, a month that saw him hit 8 homers. Yes, months can see.
Jered Weaver – 5 1/3 IP, 7 ER. Ouch. Wait, what? Oh. Ouch.
Vladimir Guerrero – 3-for-4, 0 RBIs, has two homers on the year. Maicer Izturis has 2 homers on the year. Cust kayin’.
Yovani Gallardo/Adam Wainwright – Dozen Ks and one earned run a piece as they faced David Wright +8 and The Team That Let Bonds Break Aaron’s Record and Now Karma’s Repaying, respectively.
Johnny Cueto – 6 IP, 0 ER. Ah, it’s nice to be done with interleague.
Jay Bruce – 0-for-3, batting .212 on the year. I see what he’s doing. He’s setting himself up to be a sleeper next year. Pretty sneaky, Bruce.
Randy Wells – 7 IP, 1 ER. I thought he was done being productive a few starts ago. Wells obviously thought different. He has a solid K to Walk ratio and is worth taking a chance on in 10 team leagues and deeper.
Hank Blalock – 2 HRs, now has 16 on the year as he resumes the role of oft-injured 3rd baseman that has to play DH because he’s oft-injured.
Frank Francisco – 1 IP, 3 ER. Sure, this is about as much as a limb as John Cusack playing a misfit hipster with a strange job who girls like as a friend until he declares his love in some offbeat fashion, but Francisco’s not right. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Wilson getting saves again.

Juan Rivera’s last two home runs have been pure strength. He isn’t stopping anytime soon. Center field, right field… this guy is good. He hits all his jacks to the opposite field!
July 2nd, 2009 at 1:17 am
@and1mcgee: He hits all his jacks to the opposite field!
wouldnt that mean he is behind pitchers?
Anyways, Grey, I was offered Josh Hamilton and I give up Johnny K-ueto. Almost seems TOO good to me. Did Hamilton suffer a setback that ESPN’s lazy updaters failed to mention?
July 2nd, 2009 at 3:09 am
According to the interweb-net, Rodrigo Lopez – not Carlos Carrasco will get the start Friday night against the Mets.
And that’s me referencing the Philadelphia Enquirer while pretending I live in the Eastern time zone!

Sorry for the double comment.
Cain enough for Youuuuuuk? Or do I need to throw in Stewart or Gamel. ‘Tis a keeper.
July 2nd, 2009 at 4:25 am
Grey, I don’t understand why you go to Defcon 1 every time Josh Johnson hiccups. What has he done since his return last season to give you the idea that he’s more an injury risk than a normal pitcher? The guy’s had two bad games in the past 2-3 months, and both times you’ve gone all limp and floppy for him the next day. Johnson has never depended on nor used his slider as much as Liriano (up with whom you seem to be mixing him…take that, prepositions!), and it’s not like TJ surgery is some new, experimental procedure.
July 2nd, 2009 at 4:48 am
Steve- It is the Inquirer. Oh, and I had both Gallardo and Weaver going, I guess one is good and one sucks.
July 2nd, 2009 at 4:49 am
The Fantastic Voyage reference made my day.
July 2nd, 2009 at 5:16 am
Quick questions: NL-only 4X4, can only keep 3 of the following: Jason Hammel, Happ, Kawakami, Wolf. Who has to go?
If you say Kawakami or Wolf, what if it were only between Happ and Hammel?
Thanks…
July 2nd, 2009 at 6:00 am
grey i know he`s been awesome this year,but philly seems to be due.would you start vazquez
July 2nd, 2009 at 6:09 am
What do you guys think about rostering Pierre in a league where I need speed? Someone just dropped him as the little Yahoo! blurb thing reports he’ll be starting 1-2 games per week. I cant imagine he should sit on waivers long…
July 2nd, 2009 at 6:12 am
@Beau: if you can afford to roster him just for 2 spot starts a week,and be able to know when to play him,then he will nab you some stealsplus he could still be traded
July 2nd, 2009 at 6:12 am
Why does Cole Hamels blow so much ass?
He ruined my day after having Gallardo and Wainright both pitching gems (even tho neither got a win to show for it which is pretty shocking if you think about it. I mean Wainright went 9 innings and gave up 1 run..Come now)
July 2nd, 2009 at 6:16 am
Great stuff this morn. Made getting up earlier than normal(I am lazy but dont live in my Mom’s basement)worth it.
Grey, is it safe to start Kazmir @ Texas tomorrow
July 2nd, 2009 at 6:16 am
@Teef: All Phillies blow a lot of ass, it is one of their team building exercise they use. That aint’ no moustache.
July 2nd, 2009 at 6:17 am
@Beau: if you have bench space and wouldn’t be waiving anyone worth a damn for him, sure why not. maybe he gets traded, maybe there is an injury/suspension opening for him again. if you do the daily thing, you can watch closely and get him in on the games he starts and nab some avg/steals/Rs here and there (though i personally wouldn’t start him over most starting caliber OFs even on the days he starts).
July 2nd, 2009 at 6:18 am
@Teef: yeah he burned me also,no one will even trade for him,ive put him up for trade,zero offers and bedard and peavy,repeat after me,grey, you were righ,i will no draft pitchers till the 7th round
July 2nd, 2009 at 6:21 am
Thanks guys, I grabbed Pierre and dropped Everth Cabrera, my SAGNOF of the day anyways. Hopefully he’ll play a bunch, but not due to an Ethier injury since i roster him on the same team!
July 2nd, 2009 at 6:31 am
@Grey: Downs is supposedly back this weekend. I have both him and Frasor. Think Cito will give him the job back or stick with Frasor?
July 2nd, 2009 at 6:35 am
@sean: might go 1 for downs 1 for frasor till break but downs owns the gig
July 2nd, 2009 at 6:41 am
I also have Pierre on my team and since I haven´t been able to ship him for anyone I´ll hold him for one more week to see how the situation plays out and then deliberately drop him for good. My personal opinion is that he gets no more than one start per week. That being said, I believe there are better options sitting on the waiver than once a week starter.
July 2nd, 2009 at 6:50 am
@anoraxx: the hard part is sitting around checking lineups to see if he`s playing,plus i dont keep any bench guys except pitchers,so if i have a nobody at ss,2b or m.i then id grab cabrera or bloomquist
July 2nd, 2009 at 6:52 am
Need to drop an OF this weekend so I can activate Hamilton.
In a keeper league, which OF should I keep on my roster- Colby Rasmus or Nolan Reimold?
I know Rasmus has been hot of late (well, until this week), but it also seems like he is more likely to lose playing time now that DeRosa is in St Louis, and he’s battling Ankiel, Duncan and Ludwick for time too.
So I’m leaning towards Rasmus, but is it the right move?
July 2nd, 2009 at 6:54 am
Should I hold onto CJ Wilson or Frasor? I have been rotating each of them as a 3rd reliever. Your post are must read. thanks for helping me stay at the top of my league.
July 2nd, 2009 at 6:58 am
@Rob: downs injury wasnt his arm,franky has been out twice already this year,id have to think c.j but not till franky gets hurt,talk of trades involving closers,maybe grab hawkins or another in waing closer
July 2nd, 2009 at 7:04 am
@Hardcore Midget: i’d say reimold if you have to drop an OF. i think rasmus plays at lesat 5 starts per week barring a huge set back, and he’s the bigger prospect. is there no one on your bench worth dropping?
July 2nd, 2009 at 7:07 am
@AL KOHOLIC:
Well, Pierre was my starting LF as Bruce is in a random mode, hitting 1-4 homers once a week, though, isn´t telling anyone which day it would be and F. Lopez is, well, playing for Crapizona. So I picked up Scott Podsednik who has had better (way better actually) overall numbers than Pierre over the last month and should fit in nicely at LF spot until I figure how to seize Braun
ADD: Looking at Podsednik numbers makes me wonder why on earth haven´t I been playing him for some time already instead of Pierre.
July 2nd, 2009 at 7:10 am
@anoraxx: pods ,yeah especially the ave and rbi compared to pierre
July 2nd, 2009 at 7:11 am
@TheGreatVeto: because you hit the ball the opposite way doesn’t mean you’re behind the pitcher…. its means you’re a good hitter. Yeah sometimes when a guy takes the ball to oppo he’s behind, but good hitters go that way… I coach baseball now and when i use to play i had most of my power to opposite field. I actually positioned my stance so i could take the ball that way….
July 2nd, 2009 at 7:16 am
Is Cole Hamels mad at me? Is that why he pitched like that? Was it something I said? I should send him some flowers, or chocolate. Does he like chocolate? Philly fans? Lil’ help?
@wb1960: Dude, really? It’s Texas, and it’s Kazmir. Think about it – the Rangers have a good line-up and play in a hitter’s park. Kazmir is unreliable on a good day… It’s like some sort of crazy equation where Texas + Kazmir = you losing ERA and WHIP for the week.
July 2nd, 2009 at 7:17 am
@AL KOHOLIC:
HRs and OPS as well, Pierre was a beast the first month of his trip to salvation but he cooled off a lot the second one.
July 2nd, 2009 at 7:21 am
who thinks dice-k is worth holding onto in a none DL spot on my roster?
July 2nd, 2009 at 7:22 am
People have been dropping 1st baseman like mad and I was wondering if I should reshuffle that and the utility position. The most notable dropped have been Cantu and Blake. Are either worth a pick up or waiver? I have Votto at 1st and Helton/ Lopez splitting time at the utility position. How would you rank them? It’s a 14 h2h league by the way. Thanks for the help!
July 2nd, 2009 at 7:22 am
@Grey,
I think its time to start giving Randy Wells a little more credit than you are. I believe hes a pitcher that should be owned in ALL leagues. He just goes out there and throws Gem after Gem.
July 2nd, 2009 at 7:25 am
@black love: only in 14 tam leagues i would think,corriea,cook,gaudin wells guys like that are probably available and can help you now
July 2nd, 2009 at 7:29 am
Also not getting enough credit – Dallas Braden
July 2nd, 2009 at 7:30 am
For example, rank G. Floyd, Braden, Wells
July 2nd, 2009 at 7:31 am
is fowler worth holding onto…. he does nothing but steal a base every couple games….
July 2nd, 2009 at 7:34 am
@ThePoonTycoon: The only other bench player I would consider dropping would be Felipe Lopez (as I also have Beckham on my bench), but he is like my super-sub for days off with his 2b, SS and 3B eligibility.
I know Rasmus is the better prospect, but I dunno. He just doesn’t excite me. And Reimold is hitting out of the 5 slot now, and has a clearer path to playing time.
July 2nd, 2009 at 7:41 am
@Teef: probably floyd wells then braden,floyd has been nuts lately .93 era last month
July 2nd, 2009 at 7:42 am
Reimold has almost exactly half the ABs as Bruce has (139 to 273) — and if you double his stats, he’s like Bruce w/ avg:
Bruce: .212 38R 18HR 40RBI 3SB
Reimold (x2): .288 40R 18HR 40RBI 0SB
Point being, Reimold IS what Bruce should be. In fact, if you had a guy on your team hitting .288 w/ 18HR, would you be thinking of dropping him?
If Bruce had any value, I’d be shopping him and slotting in Reimold as his replacement.
July 2nd, 2009 at 7:43 am
@AL KOHOLIC: I would have made an offer for Hammels; can’t see him being this erratic for the entire season; but like yourself, I need sluggers, not pitching. All my pitching stats are 9 or above, so I am in good shape for the moment. To be honest, you could put up Willie Mays and Bob Gibson in our league, and there probably would be no takers. Thought about picking up Pierre, just in case he was traded, but you don’t have enough bench spots in RCL for that kind of luxury.
@anoraxx: Picked up Pods over a month ago – he was hot, and I hoped that I would get a week of production out of him. To my surprise, he continues to play at a high level. Along with Me and Casey McGeeeGee, I hope the nice roll continues for as long as possible.
Grey – “Dukes sent to AAA on Wednesday. Nats host Domestic Violence Awareness Day at Nationals Park on Friday.” Ha! You should perhaps give recognition to the Commentor of the week. Doc wins the prize this week.
Thanks for the rundown. Picked up Romero in the RCL, let’s see how he does. Cut Bergeson for Gaudin as well. I’m listening more these days, and my RCL standings are taking a commensurate rise. Coincidence? Not likely.
July 2nd, 2009 at 7:44 am
@Teef: i agree but boy he`s got a tough next 5 starts coming up,if he comes out of that o.k then he should move up considerably,again that a.l vs n.l pitcher thing
July 2nd, 2009 at 7:47 am
is reimold getting PT?
full pt?
July 2nd, 2009 at 7:48 am
@Baron Von Vulturewins: so what you’re saying is offer my bruce for another guys reimold hahahah…. done and done.
July 2nd, 2009 at 7:48 am
@Paulie Allnuts: there will still be some 2nd half jems out there,we just gotta find them
July 2nd, 2009 at 7:48 am
@Baron Von Vulturewins: Picked up Reimhold in three leagues (in RCL thanks to my buddy AL KOHOLIC); the amazing thing is that he is owned in only 8.5 % of leagues in ESPN. People just aren’t paying that much attention, I guess.
July 2nd, 2009 at 7:51 am
@Tony Y: Gets about a day off per week; maybe two, but as he continues to produce, should play every day.
@AL KOHOLIC: Whoever picks up those gems will win the league. It’s becoming a horse race. Everybody has some holes -aAJP’s BA has dropped precipitously, and he doesn’t get any steals. Each of us has at least a couple of holes that need to be filled.
July 2nd, 2009 at 7:52 am
@Tony Y: Fowler hasn’t played much lately — Seth Smith has been taking ABs away from him. He’s very replaceable by SAGNOFerOTW
July 2nd, 2009 at 7:53 am
@Suck My Wieters: i am fully on the randy wells train. his babip is a little low, so i expect some kind of correction, but it’s not so absurdly so that he’s gonna suddenly become a 5.00 era pitcher if a few more balls start dropping for hits.
July 2nd, 2009 at 7:54 am
@Paulie Allnuts: same night i dropped reimold,i thought inge was sliding back to his old ways and dropped him also,hence the slide of my own began,i went from 9 in ave to 3 in a week and a half
July 2nd, 2009 at 7:56 am
i might have been drinking
July 2nd, 2009 at 7:56 am
@Tony Y: If you can get Reimold + a warm body for Bruce, I’d do that.
CAVEAT BRUCETOR: I mean, Bruce is a super-prospect for a reason: He’s “capable” of reeling off two straight 10-donk months. He’s “capable” of getting on a hot streak — though at this point I’d put the over/under on his final avg/ at .260, and take the under. But Reimold is definitely way undervalued.
@Paulie Allnuts: I’m sure being named Nolan Reimold doesn’t help. If he had a strapping, All-American baseball name like, say, Mike Clark, or Bingo Sampson, or, say, Jay Bruce, he’d be 90% owned, at least.
July 2nd, 2009 at 7:58 am
@Baron Von Vulturewins: CAVEAT REIMTOR: Also, it’s not like Reimold will carry your team. He has 9 RBIs in the last month. (Bruce = 10). I suspect he’ll be one of those blahtastic Os (like Markakis) who never puts up obviously gaudy numbers but at the end of the season somehow winds up at .280 with 28 donks.
July 2nd, 2009 at 7:59 am
@AL KOHOLIC: We all make some mistakes. I dropped Scott Baker after I went into a rage when he made his third bad start in a row. 10 seconds later I regretted the action, and wanted to pull him back. I didn’t follow my 24 hour rule of achieving an emotion-free approach before dropping a good player; the rule doesn’t apply to schmohawks, though.
July 2nd, 2009 at 8:01 am
This Jason Hammels fellow intrigues me. Is he worth dropping any of Dan Meyer, Derek Lowe, Jobacum, or Randy Johnson for?
July 2nd, 2009 at 8:03 am
@Baron Von Vulturewins: Bingo Sampson – Ha! Perhaps if we called him No-Mold, it might double his ownership.
July 2nd, 2009 at 8:10 am
Need trade help.
I want to acquire Sabathia,S.Drew, Reynolds and Price. I was thinking of offering Sizemore,Ethier,Soria,F.Lopez,Wainright, is that enough?
I need another 3B with Beltre gone and a SS with Al.Ramirez probably gone.
My other players (Beltran(DL), J.Upton (acquired from this same guy months ago), Ordonez, Ankiel, C.Young, D.Lee, Blalock, Konerko, Soto, Howard, Everth Cabrera, McGeHee, H.Bell)
July 2nd, 2009 at 8:10 am
@ Baron: If you double G. W. Bush’s stats, what is he? The anti-Christ?
July 2nd, 2009 at 8:11 am
Jeff Baker traded to the Cubs.
July 2nd, 2009 at 8:11 am
@ Schatzi: Why do you want Price?
July 2nd, 2009 at 8:14 am
@Grey @Anyone: Scherzer @ Col?
@Seattle: PLEASE play Lopez at 3B. My Davis/Kouz aint cutting it.
July 2nd, 2009 at 8:15 am
@SRM: I say no, but I may be stuck in the way back machine.
July 2nd, 2009 at 8:21 am
My ARod & Quentin for Johan & Figgins. 10 team 3 keepers. I have a 17 hr lead over 2nd place. Pitching and Steals are 2 needed categories.
July 2nd, 2009 at 8:25 am
Also who would you prefer from here on out. B.Wilson or J.Soria?? I have Heath Bell as well in a 2 RP league.
July 2nd, 2009 at 8:25 am
@AL KOHOLIC: On 5/26, you added Reimhold. about 20 minutes later, you dropped him and picked up Sheff.
July 2nd, 2009 at 8:26 am
@Doc: fox,miles,fontenot,aramis and lee,i dont see baker as any more than part time
@TheGreatVeto: I’d want Hamilton.
@Steve: Thanks for the heads up. I’d take Youk there, throwing in one (Stewart, Gamel) or maybe both if necessary.
@Grimlock: Hope you’re right.
@Pops: Hehe
@Jon: Lose Happ.
@AL KOHOLIC: Think you gotta re: Vazquez.
@wb1960: I own him in a 12 team league and am not starting him.
@sean: Downs will get the job again. But I wouldn’t drop Frasor until it’s clearly the case.
@Rob: Thanks for the kind words. I’d hold both. If impossible, Wilson.
@Lines: Ha!
@black love: Blech.
@Click: I’d drop Lopez for Cantu. Ranking them Votto, Helton, Cantu, Lopez.
@Teef: Floyd, Wells, Braden…
@Tony Y: Depends what you’re filling him in with, but probably not.
@Paulie Allnuts: We used to do Commenter of the Week, but… You’re all my children!
@Dingo: Not now. He’s home too much in the next two weeks.
@Doc: Thanks for the heads up!
@SRM: I’m not starting him there.
@Schatzi: Eh, your outfield’s going to be terrible after this trade.
@timSTi: Take Johan and Figgy if that’s what you need. Wilson
July 2nd, 2009 at 8:29 am
@Paulie Allnuts: because they werent starting reimold that night i believe,tell who`s killing me now,furcal,really now i gambled on injuries but history tells us if he plays it pays,and he has stunk
July 2nd, 2009 at 8:34 am
I have Utley and Cano to fill 2B, along with a solid cast of Util, so Cano isn’t very valuable to me. I’ve been lacking a solid SS all season, and I’m thinkin of offering Cano for Beckham…. what do you think Gray??
July 2nd, 2009 at 8:36 am
Another trade question:
I give Konerko and Zobrist, I get Votto. Is it fair and should I do it?
July 2nd, 2009 at 8:52 am
I’ve got three NL West starts tomorrow. Guadin, Kuroda and Scherzer vs. LAD, SD, Col. Who to start?
July 2nd, 2009 at 8:53 am
@a winner is you: I’d say no. Zobrist > Votto.
July 2nd, 2009 at 8:56 am
@winner is you: I take that in a heartbeat if there’s a decent SS to pick up. Votto will put up All-start type numbers when he’s healthy
July 2nd, 2009 at 8:59 am
@winner is you: another thought on that, Zobrist. is this years Chris Shelton, so get what you can from him
July 2nd, 2009 at 9:03 am
@Jo: Not so sure Zobrist is Shelton.
@a winner is you: If the trade fits your needs I think it is fair, but don’t do the trade just because you think Zobrist is going to suck the rest of the year.
July 2nd, 2009 at 9:06 am
@ Jo: I have a Jose Reyes on my DL.
@ Doc: I’m not sure that he is gonna suck, but with Reyes coming back I don’t really like him as an outfielder or UTIL guy. My current outfield is Carlos Lee, Brad Hawpe, Raul Ibanez, Carl Crawford, Cody Ross and/or Vernon Wells.
@Jo: You can get a lot better for Cano.
@a winner is you: I’d take Votto there.
@knighttown: I’m sitting Scherzer.
July 2nd, 2009 at 9:16 am
Aroldis Chapman has defected
http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=4302422
July 2nd, 2009 at 9:19 am
@Grey: So the trade we ended up on was my Arod, Damon, Soria for Figgins & Johan. I didn’t want to give up a draft pick and still have faith Quentin comes back strong. My OF consists of Kemp, Grandy, Werth, Cruz and Quentin on the DL. Just need to pick up a random Util til CQ returns. I think it works out well. I have lots of room to gain on the pitching side and only lacking room on the SB side of offense.
@Doc: A-Rold!
@timSTi: Cool
July 2nd, 2009 at 9:25 am
I was gonna accept a trade of me trading AWAY Bourn/Reimold to someone for D Ortiz but all this Reimold talk has given me cold feet.
@a winner is you: I think it would depend on who your replacement SS would be. If you already have Hanley then Zobrist would never start for you anyways. If you have…Furcal….then probably not worth it.
July 2nd, 2009 at 9:27 am
@Eric C.: Oops. Didn’t see his post about already having Reyes. Yeah just take Votto I guess.
July 2nd, 2009 at 9:40 am
Wandy or Cueto – rest of year?

Just got offered Cantu for my Cueto. My current 3B is DeRosa & my SP is solid with Haren, Bills, Carp, Bedard, Floyd, Zimm, Kaz.
Fair trade?
July 2nd, 2009 at 9:45 am
I want to mention my Reimold struggles. Back a few weeks ago, I was noticing he was sitting more than now (when he was batting 7th and 8th). So I would sit him when he wouldn’t start. Anyway, each time I sat him, he would pinch hit a 3-run HR. Needless to say, I have been sonofabenched for the tune of 3 HR and 9RBI. BLAH
@steamer: Eh, it’s a coin flip. I’d probably go Wandy.
@Doc: Aw…
@steamer: You can get better than Cantu.
July 2nd, 2009 at 9:51 am
@Pops: On June 19 you posted: “This trade just went down in my league. I’m not very happy about it, as it involves the first place team that sits directly above me in the standings.First Place Team gives: David Ortiz, Rafael Furcal, Kenshin Kawakami, Dan Meyer First Place Team receives: Grady Sizemore and John Lackey Do I need to post the – I Protest This Trade open letter that Grey posted last month? Seriously?”
Results so far:
Ortiz: .344 avg, 3 HR 0 SB
Furcal: .200 avg, 0 HR, 0 SB
Kawakami: 1K in 3 IP
Meyer: 1W, 1S, 3K in 3.1 IP in 3 appearances
Sizemore: .194 avg, 1 HR, 0 SB
Lackey: 0-1, 14K in 15 IP
What do you think now?
July 2nd, 2009 at 10:01 am
Who’s on the start Correia @PETCO bandwagon with me?
July 2nd, 2009 at 10:07 am
*16-team, mixed, H2H-Points League, (HR=4, 3B=3, etc., BB=1, K=-1, SB=3, CS=-1)
I dumped Kelly Johnson and picked up Kaz Matsui. Is either Martin Prado or Macier Izturis better options moving forward than Matsui?
July 2nd, 2009 at 10:09 am
@GTS: Been on his bandwagon since the end of May!
July 2nd, 2009 at 10:10 am
Weekly H2H-Points league. I own Nathan, Soria and Nunez. Can only start two. Nathan is a no-brainer, obviously, but Soria has some tough match-ups next week, while Nunez has it much easier:
Soria: 3x@DET, 4x@BOS
Nunez: 3x@SF, 4x@ARI
Start Nunez over Soria next week?
July 2nd, 2009 at 10:15 am
Should I trade Howard ($25)/Theriot ($1) for Votto ($8)/Alexi Ramirez ($21)? I’m in an auction league where each player kept will cost $3. I have Prince Fielder and would rather have Votto for years at a cheaper price and I need MI help. Any ideas on this? I want to win this year and I’m currently in 2nd and should make playoffs.
July 2nd, 2009 at 10:20 am
@Jo: don’t offer a proven vet who is still young enough to improve for a guy who’s been called up for a month and is showing signs of promise but nothing is guaranteed. at least go for a jeter or someone as SS. trade cano for another piece + beckham. trade cano for a better player elsewhere, then turn around and trade a lesser player or a guy at a deeper position for beckham. basically, cano is far to proven and productive and still has upside (he’s only 26 i’m pretty sure) to trade for a guy who been decent but unspectacular in his 1 month of MLB experience.
July 2nd, 2009 at 10:37 am
@GTS: make sure alexi isnt hurt very bad 1st,
@GTS: Yeah, with Stephen, been there for a few weeks now.
@Commish Cauda (formerly Mike): I’d go with Prado to see if he stays hot. Matsui will be there later if you need to switch.
Go with Soria.
@GTS: Can you hold on this Alexei trade until X-rays come back?
July 2nd, 2009 at 10:40 am
@Grey: Yes since I haven’t proposed it yet. The guy says he wants power and I think he might go for this trade but I haven’t offered it to him yet.
July 2nd, 2009 at 10:59 am
Trade Beltran for Kemp in a keeper?
@bobbo: Sure
July 2nd, 2009 at 11:02 am
You got to mention Hanley when he is the first MLB/Fantasy player in the NL to have an RBI in 10 straight games, he’s winning categories for head to head leagues by himself. Give him some love!!
@Dr.Phil: Is the tough love, Dr. Phil is famous for? We just mentioned him last week. We don’t mention top 20 guys that often unless there’s something wrong with them. He’s doing what he does. Not much to say.
July 2nd, 2009 at 11:15 am
@bobbo: i would.
July 2nd, 2009 at 11:20 am
This has probably been answered already, but ‘Rest of year’ Hardy or Drew @ SS?
ZIPS projects nearly a wash…your thoughts?
Thanks.
@T-BZA: Drew
July 2nd, 2009 at 11:23 am
Is it possible that Beckham could be mature beyond his years due to his college career and we could be looking at a steal for the rest of the year with SS/3B eligibility? I haven’t been keeping up on Razzball thoughts on him. So what are the thoughts on him?
July 2nd, 2009 at 11:25 am
Good looking out on the response promptness front!
@Frank Rizzo: Just writing him up for tomorrow’s Buy/Sell. SSs suck. Worth a flier.
@T-BZA: No problem.
July 2nd, 2009 at 11:32 am
@Grey: Drew, Beckham, or Andrus while Alexei is out?? I feel like you’re gonna say Drew, but Andrus has been hot lately and I’ve seen a lot of talk about Beckham. I drafted Drew and dealt with his early on suckfest before dropping him late may so i have a little resentment.
@timSTi: Drew
July 2nd, 2009 at 11:36 am
@Grey: Thanks. It’s true. I feel better off than some others in my league at SS since I have Drew but that sure the hell ain’t saying much. I don’t care if he’s a rookie, if he’s producing at the SS position, I’m buying.
July 2nd, 2009 at 11:36 am
been watching the davis/harang game .
reynolds just put me up by one with his solo shot .
davis about done …. not sharp , but d’backs defense has looked iffy , at times …. guess he’ll get the QS … somehow .
@Frank Rizzo: You’re welcome.
@big o: Who doesn’t love mini-donkey? Point them out to me.
July 2nd, 2009 at 11:43 am
still catching up on todays’ comments , but have to appreciate doc’s “way back machine” .
July 2nd, 2009 at 11:45 am
My Sizemore for his Edwin Jackson? Jackson would replace Blackburn/Braden/Wells and I would replace Sizemore with Sheffield. Its a keeper league
July 2nd, 2009 at 11:50 am
bringing davis back out for the 7th … this might get ugly .. guy can’t even lay down a bunt .
on the pitch before the HR ( barely 2 rows deep to right) , he swung and missed by almost 2 feet .
July 2nd, 2009 at 11:52 am
@Sam: i think in a keeper,you could get more
July 2nd, 2009 at 11:52 am
Bedard coming back so I will have to drop one of my pitchers. Right now I have Verlander, Lincecum, Jimenez, Baker, Slowey, Cook, Nolasco, Correia, and Shields (best pitching in the league by far). I would like to try and move some pitching but nobody trades for pitching in my league. Everyone thinks their pitching is fine when in reality it’s not.
July 2nd, 2009 at 11:56 am
@Doc:
free gus dominguez
the vanity fair article is a good read
@GTS: Drop Cook
July 2nd, 2009 at 12:02 pm
And S Drew strengthens my stance on SS and how sucktitious it is. Good grief…the guy does crap in the beginning of the year, gets hurt and goes to the DL, does crap for awhile after returning from the DL, starts a little hot streak that get’s his BA up to a whopping .250 (BO-NER TIME), and now he’s working his way back down to a .230.
Let’s not get crazy Steve. Raising that BA up to .265 is way the hell to much to ask.
July 2nd, 2009 at 12:11 pm
rauch gonna screw up this win … in the 8th
@Frank Rizzo: He deserves that.
July 2nd, 2009 at 12:19 pm
@Grey: 1st and 3rd one out,fly ball=rbi, bruce fouls out to catcher,its getting harder to like him and ive only owned him 3 days
July 2nd, 2009 at 12:23 pm
It’s make or break time in my H2H league. I need OFs. I have pitching. What do you guys think of Jose (Where have you gone?) Reyes and Cain for Man Ram and Jimmy (Where have you gone?) Rollins?
Alternatively, I could do Shields or EJax for Kemp?
Your viewpoint is much appreciated.
July 2nd, 2009 at 12:26 pm

July 2nd, 2009 at 12:33 pm
Jerry Hairston is a leprechaun.
Votto’s about to hit a walk off
July 2nd, 2009 at 12:35 pm
………or a single. Damnit!
@AL KOHOLIC: Ha! Wait, until you’ve owned him for a few months.
@Clay Dalrymple: I’d take the Rollins side. I’d take Kemp there and trade Jackson first, but I’d do either.
@GTS: Yeah, saw that before. Very cool.
July 2nd, 2009 at 12:38 pm
Maybe it’s because he’s such a tool, but why haven’t I heard more about how well Sheffield has done for the Mets so far in that cleanup spot? I was surprised to see his numbers just now. Not bad at all.
I hate that guy.
July 2nd, 2009 at 12:38 pm
@AL KOHOLIC:
qualls deserved the save
this game makes me wanna cry
July 2nd, 2009 at 12:41 pm
@big o: i still own haiston jr in 1 league so i was happy to see that,although now bruce gets another ab to lower my ave more
July 2nd, 2009 at 12:47 pm
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Don’t let Drew handle a bat again! 0-5!
July 2nd, 2009 at 12:48 pm
False alarm. Drew was graciously lifted from the game in the previous inning.
July 2nd, 2009 at 12:50 pm
corriea better suck it up and get out of this jam fast
@AL KOHOLIC: The Padres defense is terrible. He should’ve been out of the inning three batters ago.
July 2nd, 2009 at 12:51 pm
Was Cordero a Donkey-Corn or the corn in my feces?
July 2nd, 2009 at 12:54 pm
Here’s the sound of me jumping off the Correia @PETCO bandwagon… *THUD*
July 2nd, 2009 at 1:00 pm
brucet poo bunts with 2 on,,thats confidence
July 2nd, 2009 at 1:01 pm
the lil leprechaun can be a hero here!
July 2nd, 2009 at 1:01 pm
@GTS: grey says def hurt him,hopefully one of those delayed errors?
July 2nd, 2009 at 1:03 pm
Wait for it………………………GS for Votto!
July 2nd, 2009 at 1:04 pm
Single………..walk off………4/5……….i’ll take it!
@AL KOHOLIC: Nah, no errors. Just weak defense. Sure double play, wasn’t turned right. Groundball to Kouz and he couldn’t get Lee at first. Just lackadaisical.
July 2nd, 2009 at 1:06 pm
@Grey: Hard to like Padres pitchers if the defense is that horrible, right?
July 2nd, 2009 at 1:07 pm
Holy Shizz. Kyle Blanks looks like Rudy Gamble’s lovechild, sans glasses.
@GTS: Can’t worry about it. It’ll even itself out.
@Frank Rizzo: Ha!
July 2nd, 2009 at 1:09 pm
@AL KOHOLIC: What the hell is a “brucet poo”?
@Frank Rizzo: The power is in the ‘fro. Just like Samson, you cut the ‘fro, the power go…
July 2nd, 2009 at 1:13 pm
His Kinsler/Pena for my Wright/Phillips. Good deal?
July 2nd, 2009 at 1:16 pm
@Rudy Gamble: yeah in 1980 4 or 5 of us white dudes on the football team got perms,they were cool but my grandchildren seen a picture of me the other days and thought it was nuts,the girls loved it @Doc: meant brucey poo,because he playing like a baby
July 2nd, 2009 at 1:18 pm
Speaking of the power being in the fro……If I had to do it over again I would change my name from Frank Rizzo to Abe Froman. Damnit, I want to be the Sausage King of Chicago.
@Baron Von Vulturewins: What happened to your Wright love? You done? I’d hold tight.
@AL KOHOLIC: Nice story.
July 2nd, 2009 at 1:21 pm
Correia doesn’t look good today.
@AL KOHOLIC: Nice. I’m picturing this: http://ia.media-imdb.com/images/M/MV5BMTQwNTQxODA2M15BMl5BanBnXkFtZTYwMDk3OTI3._V1._SX298_SY400_.jpg
@Frank Rizzo: It would be a promotion to go from being a Jerky Boy to a Sausage King…
July 2nd, 2009 at 1:29 pm
@Rudy Gamble: i was denied that site,but i can only imagine
July 2nd, 2009 at 1:30 pm
@Grey: Nah, not done. That offer was made to me. Just checking in with the hive mind.
how about this:
http://www.imdb.com/media/rm2345048320/ch0015057
July 2nd, 2009 at 1:31 pm
votto got credit for a single , for what should have been a routine fly ball against the left-field wall .
eventually scored the tying run , i believe .
very messy inning .
July 2nd, 2009 at 1:37 pm
Wandy gets out of jam with DP. I have both pitchers going so I hope one can have a nice game!
July 2nd, 2009 at 1:38 pm
@Rudy Gamble: nice but it was bigger,still had the 70`s in me and blonde,bellbottoms and a bead neachlace
July 2nd, 2009 at 1:47 pm
@Doc: corriea can still put up usefull numbers if he settles down and gets 7 innings in,the reds wont show any of thier day games here?
July 2nd, 2009 at 1:59 pm
@AL KOHOLIC: He cannot get Berkman or Lee out so I doubt he can recover today.
July 2nd, 2009 at 2:08 pm
Which side do you like in each case?
Pence/Alexei for Manny
Adam Jones/Alexei for Manny
Alexei/Upton for Grady
@OPSy-daisy: Not sure, have we heard yet what the deal is with Alexei’s finger?
July 2nd, 2009 at 2:11 pm
Corriea got rocked. Seriously, July is here and my pitching has disappeared.
July 2nd, 2009 at 2:13 pm
@Rudy Gamble: It probably would be more prestigious….however…….sadly……..being a Jerky Boy instead of a Sausage King is about right for me. (married)
July 2nd, 2009 at 2:21 pm
Grey: No additional info, to my knowledge. Assuming he’s ok, got a feel?
@OPSy-daisy: Give it a few hours until news comes out.
July 2nd, 2009 at 2:41 pm
@Doc: Judging by that photo, he’s a very Latin 21
July 2nd, 2009 at 2:44 pm
Who wins these 2 deals?
J Johnson / Hoffman for Howard
Reyes / CC for J-Roll / Joba
@Kris: Howard side, CC side.
July 2nd, 2009 at 3:16 pm
african-ized honey bees in san diego ?
and pestilence .
@big o: Yeah, watching it now. Giant bees the size of Kyle Banks.
July 2nd, 2009 at 3:19 pm
i just was offered chris ianetta for leo nunez. My catcher is john baker and my relievers are broxton, valverde, and capps. Should i do it?
July 2nd, 2009 at 3:21 pm
@Martin: Getting Ianetta? Absolutely.
@Martin: Eh, it’s okay. I wouldn’t do it, but could understand it if you have a decent lead in saves.
July 2nd, 2009 at 3:23 pm
Anybody watching Sportscenter? The Mets are staying at the same hotel in Pittsburgh as a Furries convention; sometimes, it’s just not your year.
@Adam: Ha!
July 2nd, 2009 at 3:48 pm
Do I give up Manny for BJ? I’m already second in SB in a ten team league. Who’s more risky to suck it up?
@Clodbuster: Sounds like you don’t need what BJ gives you mainly, which is steals.
July 2nd, 2009 at 4:06 pm
@grey- i figure nunez wont even hold the save position for THAT long and with ianetta i can drop baker and pick up the next guy who is a SAGNOF
July 2nd, 2009 at 4:07 pm
Lind and berkman for Beltran Johnson? I am getting the Berk side and could lose a SP as I am way overpace.
July 2nd, 2009 at 4:08 pm
Barmes and Reimold for Bartlett and Gregg? Surplus in the OF with Mannywood coming back
July 2nd, 2009 at 4:29 pm
Albert getting the Bonds treatment again………….
@Martin: Good point, go for it.
@I’m Keith Hernandez: That looks solid for you.
@Adam: That’s fair.
July 2nd, 2009 at 4:33 pm
anyone watching happ/vazquez ?
should be a good one .
@big o: Switching between that and Cards.
July 2nd, 2009 at 4:45 pm
@AL KOHOLIC: Got myself one of those perms in 1972 in my first year teaching jr high–welcome back Kotter style. The principal wore a crewcut. He didn’t talk to me for 4 months. Wife kind of avoided me too. Once was enough.
July 2nd, 2009 at 4:49 pm
@Simply Fred: Maybe it was the white shoes? Or, the denim double-breasted?
July 2nd, 2009 at 5:29 pm
Jake Fox Donkey Kongs one out!
July 2nd, 2009 at 5:37 pm
There were a group of guys at the Braves game calling themselves Kotchman’s Crothmen. They were wearing speedos. I didn’t see it, but I guess security made them put shorts on!
July 2nd, 2009 at 6:12 pm
@Doc: What? Nobody got hurt? You’re slipping Doc………..
July 2nd, 2009 at 6:30 pm
Anyone have thoughts about Lackey at home vs. the Orioles tonight?
July 2nd, 2009 at 6:37 pm
“CC Sabathia walks Russell Branyan, ending Branyan’s streak of plate appearances with a strikeout at 7.”
July 2nd, 2009 at 6:44 pm
@Doc: Hehe, that’s more like it.
July 2nd, 2009 at 6:46 pm
Man, DLee with 7 RBIs tonight. Its been a long season with him.
(sorry about the repost – wasn’t sure where everyone was hangin’ tonight)
July 2nd, 2009 at 6:53 pm
@BigFatHippo: You make me chuckle.
@Doc: Ha!
@BigFatHippo: Hehe
@BSA: No worries.
July 2nd, 2009 at 6:55 pm
@Simply Fred: You’re welcome Chucklehead Fred…….
July 2nd, 2009 at 6:55 pm
@Grey: What do you think about Lackey tonight at Baltimore? Thanks!
July 2nd, 2009 at 6:56 pm
@Simply Fred: hell i had it for 4 years,but i was stoned for 4+ years so i didnt know they went out of style,again,as long as the gals liked it,i liked it,they might have just liked the weed though,hugh
@Prince: I’d start him.
July 2nd, 2009 at 7:14 pm
Need to drop one: Bergesen, Happ, or Romero. Which one?
July 2nd, 2009 at 7:19 pm
@Jpm: bergeson,for sure
July 2nd, 2009 at 7:22 pm
espn just refered to elvis andrus as a rookie sensation,who pays these bums to act like sports reporters
@Jpm: Bergesen
@AL KOHOLIC: Ha!
July 2nd, 2009 at 7:26 pm
Good news for all ya’ll.
From MLB.com — The injury caused Ramirez to leave Wednesday’s game in Cleveland prior to the bottom of the eighth inning. X-rays were negative in the injured area of Ramirez’s finger, but there’s no guarantee he will be back in the lineup on Friday against Royals ace Zack Greinke. “Possibly,” said Ramirez, who was replaced by Jayson Nix on Thursday. “I cannot say he will be back tomorrow,” said White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen. “It’s still a little bit early. I don’t want him to aggravate it. I’ll talk to him and make sure he doesn’t take any ground balls. But he feels better. There’s no hairline fracture. I worry about that one. Hopefully he will be back tomorrow, for sure. I got to wait for him to see how he feels.”
July 2nd, 2009 at 7:32 pm
@Grey: dude ,we are getting california weather here for a change,80 degrees not much humidity,i love it,ran errands,mowed grass.(i said mowed)worked on my deck,shampooed carpet and still managed to get a little buzz on,and to think,you west coasters are just getting going,grey,do you smoke cigars?
@Doc: Great news! Thanks!
@AL KOHOLIC: You had quite the full day there, Al. I do smoke them occasionally. Usually drunk and in Vegas.
July 2nd, 2009 at 7:36 pm
i need a lf all of sudden. ibanez out and gardner hasn’t played in 3 days.
reimold, kubel or murphy?
July 2nd, 2009 at 7:37 pm
Special thanks to my closers this week, Fernando Rodney, Chad Qualls and some McDougall guy. All three have blown saves over the past 24 hours. Appreciated.
July 2nd, 2009 at 7:37 pm
Buehrle with 8 and a 1/3 and only 1 K.
July 2nd, 2009 at 7:37 pm
oh, gomes and byrd are available too
July 2nd, 2009 at 7:38 pm
@Doc: i dont claim to be the most edumacated stat guy,but,does anyone else see more upside in nix over beckham??Beck doent hit for power or steal bases,nix will get you 20+hr`s
@paulzone: Reimold
@knighttown: Ouch
@Doc: That’s what he do.
July 2nd, 2009 at 7:40 pm
reimold over gomes, hairston (sd) and byrd too?
July 2nd, 2009 at 7:46 pm
Stattracker sucks. It is way behind Gamecast. But I did just read that it will be free once football starts, but still as crappy.
July 2nd, 2009 at 7:55 pm
@Grey: i wont tell,because what goes on in vegas ,,stays in vegasi got started about 1 1/2 years ago,bought the gurkha special,cutter,humidor 20 cigars etc.ive since tried a bunch of $10 cigars only to find that about any gurkha is the best(for the money)i still like a few other brands but it`s kinda like drafting Albert,you know its going to be good,most small smokeshops dont sell them ,you have to order them20 at a time or pay 12-15 bucks for onew\,a buddy called me and informed me that a place by churchill downs had them in but only had 3 left.i went grabbed those 3 and the box plus 3 or 4 others,told the guy i wanted the box(usually if you buy $50-100 worth they give you the box)smoked them all,a month later im dusting off the boxes and feal a rattle,the box had a 2nd compartment i didnt know about,10 more cigars(had i found this within a few days,i would have returned them,seriously but after a month,someone is getting free cigars,might as well be me.)GURKHA black dragon`s ,If you`d like one let me know and ill send it to you,they are better with bourbon,but tonight its vodka,kinda like having huff,,take what you can get,
July 2nd, 2009 at 7:58 pm
anyone on the bech vs nix debate
@AL KOHOLIC: That’s some spy shizz with another compartment. Very cool. You don’t have to send me one, that’s very nice of you though to offer. I appreciate it.
@AL KOHOLIC: Nix’s is topping out. Beckham has upside. You know how it goes, people get excited about upside.
July 2nd, 2009 at 8:09 pm
@Grey: cool,i lost the fro,and found about 100 pounds,hippo nicknamed me lenny dykstra 15 years ago,,now its more like big jake fox,but the offer stands if you get a buzz and want a good cigar
July 2nd, 2009 at 8:13 pm
played whiffel ball with the kids on easter,ankle still hurts like hell,not to mention trying to throw a frikin whiffel ball hurts,but my fat ass made sure i didnt have to run much while hitting,,didnt loose my stroke
July 2nd, 2009 at 8:20 pm
@AL KOHOLIC: Now 8 pts in back of AJT, even with CC getting Pwonsoned’. Jairangulus is even closer. Muscle Russel hit one over 540 ft in the Jetstream. Ichiro is starting to steal bases. The god of Lud got 2 ribbies. Life is good.
And you get Manny back tomorrow. (Don’t forget to put him in your lineup!)
Think we have a horse race
July 2nd, 2009 at 8:20 pm
check – 450 ft. Muscle Russell ain’t the Mick or Richie Allen.
July 2nd, 2009 at 8:48 pm
@Paulie Allnuts: hey thanks paulie,but yes i did already insert him(sounds nasty)thanks alot for maggs,he sucks worse than bradley.you beat me to posada too,but your only 8 points from the top,like in golf,id rather shoot a 40 and get beat,than shoot a 48 and win(unless good money is on the line)so go get him,hopefully ill be joining yall soon
July 2nd, 2009 at 9:02 pm
@AL KOHOLIC: There is only a 12 point difference from 2nd to 7th; anyone of those teams can compete – you won’t be 7th in homers once Manny gets rolling. Yeah, Maggs really does suck. I won’t pick up Milton to compare suckiness. They may not suck as much as Tony Suck; then again, think how much Tony would be worse in the Razzball leagues! Not many who have a lifetime average about 50 points under the Mendoza line…
July 2nd, 2009 at 9:03 pm
check – worse=worth
@AL KOHOLIC: Cool, will keep the offer in mind. Thanks again!
July 2nd, 2009 at 11:44 pm
Rios/Cueto or Tulo/random generic outfielder?
@cubbies299: Rios side.
