Well you were definitely right about the RP stats continuing to accrue. Chicago Ashman now has 4 more Ks than he did after 7/23, which equals what Chapman’s stats these last couple days. And he didn’t get credit for Lohse’s start last night (those stats were wiped away when the ESPN database updated overnight). I’m happy to have this info.

The last question I have is whether or not you’re sure that lineups can still be edited after the 180 start “lineup lock”? That would add a bit of a wrinkle to this whole process. If you want to start 9 SPs on your final SP day, but can’t ever re-edit your lineup, that might make you want to scale it back a bit and maybe only start 6 SPs and your 3 closers. That way your closers can still rack up their SVs etc for the remainder of the season.

Chicago Ashman was credited with the Aroldis Chapman save last night after using their 180th start on Monday.

Alright, he should serve as a nice 1st hand example… Chicago Ashman has reached his 180 GS limit after his final 7/23 start, and has 870 Ks, 3.714 ERA, and 1.260 WHIP.

Fred’s been going through his GS at an accelerated pace this season, but I just assumed he’d be stopping at 179 when he gets there in mid-August. Maybe that isn’t the case anymore though.

So your pitching is locked in but if you have RPs in there they continue getting stats? Or can you still trade/drop starters and replace with relief?

Now the ECFBL will be piling up even more stats, I suppose.

I posed the question to ESPN. They validated that you were spot on!

“Relief pitchers’ statistics are not affected by the Games Started Limit. If a pitcher who is traditionally a starter appears in relief, it is considered a relief appearance, and is not restricted by the Games Started Limit.”

Hmm, I’ll be interested to look into this further when another team that hits 180 GS actually has a RP on their roster. From what I recall the last few seasons, all pitchers and their stats lock from the day after you reach the GS limit.

That’s why everyone in my league waits til the final week to load up on 9 SPs for that last push. But maybe we’ve had it wrong…

As for Zimmerman, I’m very happy I acquired him when I did. His stats the last 30 days have been unreal, especially given how useless he was for most of the 1st half.
