You asked about it. You pondered if this day would ever come. You forgot you asked or pondered and went about your business as usual. Now, it’s here — The Razzball Podcast. To make our at-times-indecipherable, at-times-hard-to-stomach voices go down a bit smoother, we have a special contest for anyone who wants to enter. A $50 Amazon gift certificate to the person who does the best rendition of our Razzball theme song. What I suggest you do is go to an online voice recorder and make a recording of yourself singing the song. Lyrics and timing will be taken into consideration. I suggest you write down what you think are the words before going off and trying to sing it yourself. But you’re a big boy (or girl — no offense meant!), you can figure out how to do it. Then post your link in the comments of this post. Here’s one that I made. (I know all the words, but I didn’t want to give anything away so I cut mine short. Yes, my voice really is that bad. You should not cut yours short as I did, unless you think that’s your best effort. Though, I think you can do better.)

is this available on iTunes? if so what is the name of it there?
@ajk, I’m trying to get it in iTunes now…
i made you a little song. maybe it will sit nicely in the podcast somewhere after discussions about what a stud Baltimore’s LJ Hoes will be.
http://vocaroo.com/i/s0cE6QdLqnHk
@adam, Wow, that’s awesome!
Hmm, I couldn’t make out the last line of the song- was it “heeey hahr ehhh”? Gotta make sure I have the lyrics right before I go and drop the bass hard like skrillex. Or whatever people like.
@royce!, Ha, that was a creative liberty taken by the band (Symphony of Nine). They also seem to have changed my lyric, “You may pee yourself like your name was Moises” to “You may pay yourself like your making noises”
@Rudy Gamble, I meant grey’s a cappela version- it sort of trails off at the end. But, while the song is great, the band made a huge mistake by changing the Moises lyric. That line is hilarious.
ah…yeah, was just joking on them changing the lyric…it sounds more like what I said, right?
@Rudy Gamble, Yes, on my second listen, it does sound more like what you said. That is the lyric, right? Please say yes.
Yeah, just the first verse from me to give a taste…
Oh my god, the actual theme song is absolute gold! I now understood why you were talking it up so much. Holy shizz, that’s hard to beat.
@royce!, Yeah, the band did a great job…
@Grey, What, my lyrics are chopped liver?
@Rudy Gamble, And you with the lyrics… Brilliant!
Long-awaited awesomeness! Can’t wait to listen to this later today. If possible, please let us know if/when the podcast gets an RSS feed so we can subscribe more easily and catch the show every week. Thanks guys!
@Van Hammersly, Yeah, working on the RSS… It’s all new to me so bear with me…
YES
@timSTi, Oh, yeah.
The intro is full of WIN… but for some reason, I couldn’t stop thinking of BASEketball when I listened to it.
@ichirosan, Hmmm, not sure… Never saw it…
I’m giddy, can’t wait to listen. Did I read an above comment correctly that this might be a weekly dealy?
@MattTruss223, Barring any injuries… Yeah…
@Grey, Well, that’s incredible!
@Grey, perhaps you should have your vocal chords insured. Don’t singers do that? I know JLo insured her butt, but (stutterer) that’s neither here nor there…
@Bill_Buckner, Great call!
@Bill_Buckner, Isn’t her ass kind of here and there?
@Wilsonian, haha. Touche
Wow. Never thought I’d spend 44:50 listening to a podcast, so congratulations. Good stuff!
@VinWins, Thanks!
Ha, that was great. Can’t wait to hear these every week.
@Son of a Beachy, Thanks!
I’ve been offered Josh Hamilton for Matt Moore. I can’t pass this up, right? 10 teams, 5×5 but we use QS instead of W and Sv+H instead of Sv.
My SPs are:
Cliff Lee
Gallardo
Moore
Latos
Garza
Morrow
***We are allowed to keep three players in 2013 in the round we got them in the 2012 draft. Moore was my 9th round pick. Hamilton was a 4th rounder.
My offense is strong but has some injury issues (Posey, Wright, Howard, IDavis):
Posey
Hosmer
Kendrick
Wright
Andrus
Kipnis
Howard/I.Davis
Braun
JUpton
Adam Jones
Fowler
Mayberry Jr
Alonso
@Public Enemy #1, I’d take Hamilton…
Grey,
How many cold ones did you have in preparation for the “Razzball Podcaaast” ? Razzball Podcast in Symphony of Nine’s voice of course
PS excellent work guys @ Grey, Rudy and Nick
@Rennan, Ha… None, surprisingly. Thanks!
Three and a half minutes into the podcast and you haven’t even mentioned anything baseball related. It already rocks!
@Public Enemy #1, Ha, thanks!
@Grey, thoughts on this team? Thanks.
12 teams H2H 5×5

@Scott, Very strong team… Bit of injury risk on the hitting side, but not terrible…
Grey: great job on the Podcast. I can’t wait to see how these progress over the season (as you and Rudy increase your ManStrength).
@Tyler, Ha, thanks!
@Grey, @Rudy: Lots of boy strength in this podcast, but should develop into some real strong, real fantasy baseball sexy man strength in time.
Rudy, you really don’t have a ‘guy’ (or as we say at our drafts, ‘fantasy gay’–really Chicago up that gay)? I’m huge for Huston Street, and, like Grey, got some real love for Howie Kendrick. Especially hitting ahead of Pujols and whatever else the Sciosciapath puts together.
@ChillmanCometh, Thanks for the kind words!
@ChillmanCometh – I know…it’s one of my lamer qualities as a fantasy ‘expert’. I spent the offseason clearing my head and then just run all the stats come Feb/March. I try to avoid falling love with a player – I just know my values and will grab just about any player who comes at a discount. Inevitably, certain guys keep showing up on my teams and I make an after-the-fact ‘he’s my guy’ assessment. If you go through the Point Shares (http://razzball.com/2012-point-shares-12-team-mlb-espn-roster/), you’ll see plenty of candidates (look at where my rankings differ from ESPN/Yahoo. One of my only biases is I don’t like drafting an SP1/SP2 with a lot of injury risk – so I don’t care where Josh Johnson is on my rankings, not drafting him. And I want to get SPs at a discount, figuring if top SPs are going at ‘retail’, then there will be a lot of mid-range SPs going at bargain rates. For an example, check out our SPs in a 14-team Yahoo-sponsored league: Anibal, Latos, Romero, Hudson, Masterson, Lewis, Norris (we just packaged Norris in a trade for CC). It’s not sexy but should be good in W/K and do okay in ERA/WHIP.
Wow I actually listened to all of that! You must have done something right. I really like Grey’s board this year…it just seems that after last year’s pitchingpalooza, its an even better time to go hitter heavy early in most formats. So far after a number of drafts it seems like a lot of usual suspects are ending up on my teams:
Joey Votto
Jay Bruce
Krispie Young
Howie Kendrick
Jesus Montero
Peter Bourjous
For SP’s every team seems to have some variation of these guys: Greinke, Gallardo, Bumgardner, Gonzalez, A Sanchez, Chacin.
RP’s, Getting a ton of Marmol, Soria, Jansen…
Seems promising.
@Elijah, Thanks! Yeah, definitely promising.
Nice work! This could get me away from ESPN for good now. Thanks!
@Cotton, Thanks!
Need some help rounding out keepers (we keep 20 of 27 each year). 11 team roto: C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, 5 OF, 1 Util. 200 Games Started limit for pitchers. 5×5 plus OPS and Holds.
I have a list of guys I know for certian I’m keeping so I won’t bore you with them. Need 5 out of the following:
Montero, Maybin, Moustakas, League, Venters, Jansen, Street.
@Benny, Not League or Street…
Humorous and informative – espn and others, take notes! I do have one potentially disappointing observation – I don’t think twelve-after-twenty is going to catch on. Sorry bro.
@Big Magoo, Damn… Damn!
We just pulled the draft order for my 14 team 3 keeper league with OPS. I got pick #2…NICE! My keepers are Miggy, Justin Upton and Greinke. Top 2 available in the draft are Pujols and Votto. I know it is not an ideal pairing, but I have to go with whichever one is left for me at #2, right? Next 2 best are Kemp and Tulo.
@schlitzy, WHy not take a 1b, Swiggy should get 3b ability after a few weeks.
@schlitzy, Take Tulo there…
I uploaded my two versions of the theme song to the following myspace page: http://www.myspace.com/gregoriousloops
One of them has egregiously incorrect backup vocals over the finale. Send me a tweet @gregsauce if you want the mp3 files.
@gregsauce, Well, that’s kinda brilliant. Definitely in the lead, and not just because no one else has tried yet.
@Grey @Rudy Awesome guys! Finally can put voices to the ‘stache and the ‘fro! Shout out to Nick for the Expos reference! The city of Montreal is trying to find a way to honour Gary Carter. Can’t think of a better way than bringing back the ‘Spos! Thanks guys!
@Howard, Thanks for the kind words!
Enjoyed the podcast.
Thoughts on my team? This was an RCL draft and the pitching just kept hanging around so my staff is pretty strong, offense could use a boost. If I trade Felix for a stud bat is my rotation still strong enough?

@Ian, Thanks! Last year’s overall winner draft three starters and his top was Beachy, so you can trade F-Her, depends what you get. You have some injury risk in the hitting and a weak OF.
First off, congrats on the podcast. It’s good to finally put a voice to the ‘stache. Less John Waters-y than I dreamed of, but not unmillifluous.
Could you take a sec to assess this team I drafted over the weekend? 12-team H2H (we play saves and holds, hence the middle relievers).

Would have been nice to snag an elite first baseman and front-line starter, but my league-mates were rabid for that shit. Some of the decent names floating around on the waiver wire include Colby Rasmus, Lorenzo Cain, Scott Baker, and Tim Stauffer, if you would advise any moves. Planning on dropping Doumit once Jesus gets C eligibility.
Thanks as always, amigo.
@Waldo Iscariot, Thanks! You’re really low on SPs. You don’t need Holds on your bench. Lose Bastardo for Stauffer. As long as you can stream solidly with SPs, your team should be competitive, the hitting is good…
@Grey Speaking of Napoli, in a 16 team deep keeper I have him as my catcher (had him before his mom’s nipples were famous!) It took a lot of patience to set him and forget him! Anywho, was thinking of moving him to UTIL and drafting a punter like Soto to take over at catcher. Do you think Napoli can give full value to the UTIL spot given the dearth of hitting left to draft?
@Howard, Nice work! I think you’re better off with Napoli in your C spot and taking an every day hitter for UTIL.
@Grey, Haha I don’t there are any ‘everyday’ hitters left: Laroche, Stewart, Reimold, Smoak…
@Howard, Smoak and Reimold would be way better than Soto.
Forgot: I also have your boy (?) Anibal Sanchez on the roster.
@Waldo Iscariot, It helps, but you still could use another SP.
Pick 3 keepers in a 5×5 + OPS roto
Tulo
Pence
Uggla
Holliday
Hosmer

Tulo, Uggla, Hosmer… Could see a case made for someone else besides Uggla…

awesome job guys!!

Ha… Awesome!
@Grey, I just traded Marcum for Annie “get your shoulder fixed” Sanchez, after listening to the podcast.This was of course prior to learning Annie has a shoulder boo boo again
@Doug Ault, It’s no new shoulder issue right?
@Grey, nothing new as in the last 24 hours
@Howard, Rudy said it reminded him on the Chappelle show theme.
Nice job on the podcast… tell career conscious announcer boy that he should be more concerned about not getting a PODCASTING job by doing BS non-cursing announcing gigs. Talk about not know which way the wind is blowing… sheesh.
Don’t change the theme song. Epic.
I will do my part to get 12 after 20 to catch on. So first off; what does it mean? 12th round or better value after the 20 round I am guessing?
@James L Legade, Thanks! No one’s changing the song, just doing a friendly contest of covers.
@Grey, barbershop goth, might be an interesting style of presentation
lemme see what I can do
@Doug Ault, I like that idea!
@James L Legade, No dude it means the year 2012 lol
@TheNewGuy, yeah that isn’t going to catch on.
Nice! Looking forward to the weekly installments.
@Trini, Thanks!
Thought it included a little too much fantasy baseball (emoticon).
Great theme song.
@Steve, Thanks! Is that a winky emoticon or a sad face emoticon?
@Grey, That’s a winky, (a winky face, that is), though 30 secs or a minute on the best thing you ate in the previous week would be pretty cool…
@Steve, To me, anyway. May have limited popular appeal.
@Steve, I had some of the best fries of my life recently… And I’m not really a fry guy… Though maybe that was working for them…
@Grey, Pretty fry for a white guy?
@Steve, That’s me…
@Grey, We call ‘em chips here of course. They’re never as good as the ones you make yourself.
@Steve, Google Yelp + Fukuburger + crack sauce
@Grey, Mmmmmm. Fukuburger looks pretty awesome.
@Steve, Yeah, had to wait about an hour, but it was solid. The fries were incredible.
@Grey, An hour wait for a burger? Gotta love LA (emoticon). Sounds like it was worth it, though. And there’s always drinking to pass the time.
@Steve, Yeah, LA’s stupid. Hey, does the link in the post work for iTunes? (There’s a new link that I just added. Check for me, please, and thank you.)
@Grey, I’m at work on my PC which doesn’t have iTunes, but it looks like it’s trying to take me to the right place.
@Steve, Cool, thanks!
@Grey, And now that I think about it, I won’t be able to access the US iTunes store anyway. But can flick you some screenshots of what I got, if you like
@Steve, Nah, I think it’s okay. I clicked on it and it worked, just wanted one more person to double check it, but if there’s a problem I’m sure someone will say something in the comments.
Sweet job on the Podcast! It was a great soundtrack to digging ditches today.
It made me sad faced emoticon that I drafted Hosmer but in my defense I’m in a 14 team league and was able to draft Longoria, McCutchen, and Uggla. So, minor punt but mayhaps no harm done.

Light on power, heavy on steals, some questionable starters but I’m excited. I would like to hear, “It’ll be a’ight” though…
@The Ghost of Doc Ellis,
Sorry, it’s a H2H 6×6 14 Team Yahoo League.
@The Ghost of Doc Ellis, Thanks! It’ll be aight… (You are pretty heavy on steals, which isn’t great, your starters I don’t mind…
@Grey,
Ha! That was a big ol’ Meh of an a’ight but I’ll take it. I’ve already dropped Bourjos (Auto pick pee break mistake) for Duda and am looking to trade Stubbs and Sale for Gordon and Addison Reed. Somehow I already know you don’t like that one…Oh yeah, because I listened to your Podcast!
@The Ghost of Doc Ellis, Ha…
Phils’ Worley Ks 8 in 4 perfect innings – you can still change your mind Grey
@Mr Baseball, Mr. What Are You Talking About? I like him in the rankings: http://razzball.com/2012-fantasy-baseball-rankings/
@Grey, Didn’t you say you liked his mother better – Jo Anne Worley
@Mr Baseball, Well, she is a hot piece of ass.
Lucky I’m an emcee. I’ll make you some tight shiz. Anyway, just FYI, vocaroo or whatever doesn’t work on Google Chrome. Apparently I’m the only G who uses that browser…
Also, when is the deadline for submissions?
@emceeperiod, Eh, I won’t shut the contest for a month probably…
Also, I know I’m super demanding, but can you put that Yahoo v Grey ranking comparison chart on your 2012 baseball rankings list up top? It be being tough to find…I searched “Yahoo” and got nothing.
@emceeperiod, Search funston…
Well done guys! Really enjoyed the podcast. Will this be a weekly deal?
@letsgobravos, Thanks! Yeah, weekly…
Lucas Duda VS Brandon Belt in a keeper league – thr future – is it a big difference
@Mr Baseball, Belt
@Mr Baseball, Not a huge difference for this year…
@Grey, reason being the other haft of the trade is Latos for Zimm the pitcher
so its Latos and Duda for Zimmerman and Belt – keeper league
@Mr Baseball, Latos is better for this year. There’s risk on the other side, but it could be much better for the other side in future years.
Who would you target at pick #13 in a 14 team league?? SP tend to go high in my league because CG are a stat. Halladay, Verlander, Shields, and C lee might be off the board by the time it gets to me. So there will be value, just don’t know what kind. Votto, A Gonz, J Upt, Ells, Han Ram should all be there.
@pipa, Votto…
and on the turn?
@pipa, Upton
@Grey/Rudy/Nick, great work pulling together the podcast!! Enjoyed listening to it very much. Also putting the voices to the faces…
Rudy being the biggest vocal surprise (vs. his avatar), sounding a bit of a cross between someone who’s lived in both Jersey and Canada.
Grey, with some perfect timing (just like in your writing), and an Eddie Haskle-esque lilt to the voice. Nice! Also unexpected, as I was imagining a voice ranging anything from Tom Selleck to Randall Texx Cobb’s character from Raising Arizona to go with that stache! And you really just sound like one of my good friends named Rick. er…. Rick, is that you?? Rick?
Nick, of course, oozes over the airways like a smooth jazz radio deejee a la Tim Meadows’ “Quiet Storm”. Sweet…
Quick trade question, if I may… 5×5, 10 team, NL only auction ($300) w/8 keepers (13 hitters, 10 pitchers total w/1C, 5OFs, 3U).
My keepers are: The Adverb ($31); Uggla ($24); Alonso ($5); Tabata ($7); Wright ($26); Hanley ($31); Gordon ($13); and Johan Santana ($3). Hart ($16), Mayberry ($7) and Hudson ($17) are on the bubble outside looking in.
Should I trade away Alonso & Gordon in a 2-for-1 to get the other guy’s choice of Giancarlo ($24); The Dread Pirate ($28); or Bruce ($24)? The other guy will probably just barely agree to Bruce given the value disparities this year on his projections, if at all, but would all 3 players be a clear green light for the trade?
If so, who from Hart, Mayberry and Hudson should come off the bubble into my top 8 keepers (in rank order)? THANKS!
@birrrdy!, Hey, I’m Rick! Thanks for the kind words! I’d take any of those three OFs. Hudson…
Nice podcast – I feel like there should be a segment within it called “The Moustache Ride” for some reason
Thoughts on this team? 12 team H2H standard cats – On the hitting side of things I’m doing pretty well – on the pitching side of things I need some upside to pan out.
What was frustrating was that I seemed to get sniped out of a whole pitching tier with a pitching run of Darvish, Bumgarner, CJ Wilson, Wainwright, and Hudson causing me to take Hosmer and then wait it out for Gio after that. Other than that things broke fairly well.

It’s Christmas!
@Johnny Drama, Ha, enjoy!
Hey Grey,
Just did my 10 teak Keeper OBP/QS 5X5 league. Can you rate my draft? I went a little earlier on closers than I thought but that’s what happens when half of your top 50 are in the back of the draft with keepers. I was really surprised Wright fell to me in this league but all seemed to not like him after last year. Funny when someone took Adam Dunn in round 12. I have never drafted a team with 4 bench players but figured between Cozart/Aybar and Kendrick/Espinosa, one or two would not work out or could be traded.

Thanks for the feedback/constructive criticism.
@Mr2Bits, Team looks solid… You went a bit too heavy/early on closers, agreed. Bourjos, Aybar, Wright, Youk, Hunter, Krispie, Cozart, Kendrick… You may not get over 24 homers from anyone there, definitely not from the majority of them. I.e., it’s a bit power light. I’ve seen better offenses in 10 team leagues, but it’s manageable. You’re gonna need to work for some power.
@Grey, Agree. No joke, Wright was the top ranked player from your top 300, after that it was pitchers and Arod. I was lucky to snag Pence in the 2nd round when my pick came around as I was 9th after keepers set in.
I am glad to hear my power is the issue as I was concerned about pitching for awhile. I can correct the power as Lind/Hill/Rios etc were not even drafted.
@Mr2Bits, I’d grab Lind immediately.
@Grey, who would you drop?
@Mr2Bits, Hard to say the way you have your team… Who’s the last man on the bench? Probably him…
@Grey, Correct. He would be fighting for playing time at this point. I really took Bourjos accidentally and it threw my whole team off as I usually only carry 2 bench players max. With that said, I wasn’t expecting Wright to fall as far as he did either so I took a 3b player I didn’t really need and already had 1st locked up with Youk/Berkman.
I think I should probably lose Cozart at this point or I will struggle in this H2h league to win K’s and QS. Only problem is this is really all whose left. Is a flyer worth losing for one of these duds?
Josh Collmenter
Kyle Lohse
Matt Harrison
Guillermo Moscoso
Mike Leake
Josh Tomlin
Jeff Karstens
@Mr2Bits, Disregards as I just read your rundown and losing Cozart doesn’t look like a good idea anymore. Ill sit tight and wait for duds/injuries to pan out and see where I’m at with the trade market. Look like most teams in my league are in the same position with their pitchers and being fairly shallow with starters. Is it just me or have all the good starting pitchers vanished? When you start seeing Danks and Lilly going in rounds 12, shiz has really hit the fan.
I would love it if “epic fail” did not appear again in a podcast
@Sean, Ha… Did someone say that?
@Grey, Yeah the host said it twice, asking for your “epic fails”… I’m on a pedantic quest to eradicate the term outside of 15 year old boys. It’s basically me against the Huffington Post, so I’m sure I’ll prevail.
On a serious note I really enjoyed the podcast and plan to tune in every week.
@Sean, No more epic fails. Noted… Thanks for the kind words!
You should sample this as the outro to whatever theme song you go with.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RLliJpGBLA8
@Fisters for Furbush, We have a theme song. It was a contest for the best cover of it. Nice video…
John Axford – 38 SAVES AND K-ROD 18 HOLDS – ?????????
hey man if K-Rod does not get the job done in the 8th then Axford will not be what he can be – so why does K-Rod the setup man get only 18 holds – it wasn’t the C- you got in Math in 8th grade that had something to do with this Grey
@Mr Baseball, Only 12 pitchers got more than 18 Holds last year, don’t see why K-Rod would be in the upper echelon of middle relievers…
@Grey, I seen 23 saves last year for him and 17 holds last year – that number adds up to 40 combo – he is new breed of 8th inning setup men – one that could close for another club and there should be no questions when in comes in the 8th inning that he can get the job done – since I do own the brewers 9th inning dude – I am going to take theri 8th inning dude and I hope he gets 25 holds for me
@Mr Baseball, LaTroy Hawkins had 20 holds for the Brewers last year
@Mr Baseball, I hate drafting Holds
@Mr Baseball, Yeah, Holds are tough to predict.
@Grey, I will draft Johnny Cueto – and we both can predict that he will get no holds
@Mr Baseball, That works!
Oh my goodness. the roundtable video on Hanley is a goldmine of unintentional comedy. AJ Mass is mumbling something to Karabell about how Hanley can’t steal alot of bases because bonifacio will be on base all the time ahead of him and Cockroft is looking like he wants lunch. My computer froze with the Croft in a creepy gaze at Bell while she tells us that Hanley had shoulder surgery last year. Thanks. Another thing that is very clear – Mass and Cockroft haven’t changed their ESPN mug shots in years.
@schlitzy, Ha! I have to check that one out. I’ve heard so many great things!
@Grey, How cool would it be if someone came up behind Mass from nowhere and jammed the Mr Met mask on his head?
@Steve, Ha! I love it…
@Grey, Call Wieden and Kennedy! Tell them we have an ESPN commercial for them.
@Steve, I’m on the horn…
@Steve, Hey, when you get home to your Mac could you try the iTunes ear icon in the top left corner? See if it takes you to the right place, cause it’s working only sporadically for me… Merci!
@Grey, Works like a charm on an iPad, yo.
@Steve, Great, thanks!
Nice pod, knew it would be fun when the rock raines and swiggy lines came out
I have a keeper / strategy questions. For my last keeper, I am deciding between Leake and Tabata (OF is CF, LF, RF). I have Emilio that can also play LF, but is currently my SS/3B with Han Ram. I plan on trying to draft as many of the following: Cozart, Dee Gordon, Moustakes, Yonder. I also plan on trying to draft young SP, like the S Miller, H Alvarez, Peacock, Pomeranz’s of the world.
Do I keep Tabata or Leake?
Depending on who I keep, does this change my draft approach..i.e..keep Tabata, go heavy on SP, or keep Leake, go heavy on hitters…?
I know you are 10 beers deep, but i hope that makes sense.
Thanks.
btw..whats the number for the phone sex hotline?
@Madonna’s Left Bicep, Thanks! 1-800-Razzhunk… Doesn’t really make sense unless I’m missing who else you’re keeping… I’d prefer Tabata in a vacuum.
Offense Keepers:
C – McCann
1st – Lind
2nd – Cano
SS – Hanley
3b – Emilo
LF –
CF – Kemp
RF – Bruce
DH – Kendrys
SP Keepers
C Lee
Zimmerman
Beachy
Baker
Teheran
Hanson
Luebke
Last Keeper Spot
Tabata -LF
Murphy 1st, 2nd, 3rd
Maybin – CF
Belt – 1st, LF
Goldschmidt 1st
E Jax
Ogando
Leake
Niemann
So Tabata or Leake, given keepers and draft strategy
Thanks
The # did not work, maybe all circuits are busy…
@Madonna’s Left Bicep, Goldschmidt… I don’t know how you’re going to go heavy on anything considering how many players are being kept.. But get a LF and then the best available players.
i can keep 0,1,2,or 3 in a 14 team keeper 5×5 roto…I have longoria and josh hamilton who i want to keep. im not sure if i should keep either Tex or Weaver or draft in the 3rd round…what would you do?
@aj, Keep 3… Tex…
@Grey which side do you like better: Anibal/Surkamp or Trumbo/Peacock. It’s tough, I have the Trumbo side but need pitching.
@Howard, Anibal
We just finished our RCL draft. Nice work fellas.
Brain fart alert:
I took A-Gon-Reyes when I could have had Tulo-Fielder. Don’t ask. Question is… how much did I f that up? Be gentle.
Thanks dude.
@L-Boogie, Fielder and A-Gon are a push and Tulo’s better than Reyes, so it’s not great.
Hi Grey,
Deep league. 4×4 (Runs, RBI, SLG%, OBP for offense; QS, Saves/Holds, ERA, WHIP for pitching).
What’s the right auction split for offense to defense with those stats?
Thanks!
I’d go 180/80…
I really enjoyed the podcast. I hope that you guys do more during the season. Having no idea where any of the characters on this site are originally from having never heard your accents: here are my guesses.
Grey: East coast. Easy. Jersey or Maryland. Has to be one of those
Rudy: Difficult to tell. My guess is the Ohio River valley to Oklahoma… shot in the dark there.
Nick- Long o’s. Much like the way I speak being a MIL area resident (although far less sexy). My guess is MN, MI, or IL.
Again, really enjoyed the podcast!
@Cole, We’re doing them weekly… Rudy and I are both from Jersey, Nick’s from Canada…
@Grey, Oh word, said Nick was Canadian at the start. Didn’t put it together. I’m an idiot, folks. Footnote: I think Scott Van Pelt sounds like a Canadian fur trader from 1812 (or 12 after 18).
@Cole, Great call on Van Pelt… Ha!
I really want to make a version of the song, but after last night when the baby was crying and I was drafting for Steve and my wife posted on facebook, “Hush, baby Faith…No crying during Daddy’s fantasy baseball draft”, I’m thinking I need to reconsider my priorities…but just to be safe, can someone send me the lyrics?
Razzball! Razzball! Razzball! Razzball!
@royce!, Sorry Mrs B!
@Steve, The post got an “LOL” out of my mom, an event which will keep me off of Facebook for at least another year or so.
@royce!, You have some pretty good reasons for staying off Facebook but that might be the most compelling of all.
@Steve, Yeah, this could turn into some family drama. “Don’t you LOL me, mother! This is important!” [slams virtual door to virtual room].
@royce!, Ha! Hey, you have a Mac? Could you check the subscribe red icon button in the top left under the Twitter icon?
@Grey, Worked on my iPhone. I had no idea what that icon meant until now. Thought maybe this was where the Kiwanas meet or something. I’ll check on my laptop in a few mins.
@Grey, Works on the macbook. What do you have to do to get the ear icon to catch fire?
@royce!, Thanks for checking it for me! I have an ear with fire on it but I thought it looked redundant with the other fire on the Twitter…
@Grey, Was joking, but your ear is on fire because someone is talking about you! Who is it?!!
Crap I’m tired.
@Grey, Trying to confirm that a hot ear means someone is talking about you, and these were the four suggestions from when I tried to google “what does it mean”:
“when you dream about your ex boyfriend”
“to be an american”
“when your poop is green”
I don’t know much about computers, but I really hope that these suggestions are not based on my online habits.
Just like to say congrats for popping my podcast cherry…
Well done!
@Wilsonian, Thanks!
@Grey, No prob! And does Nick moonlight as Rick Dees and the Weekly Top 40?
@Wilsonian, Ha… He used to have a radio show… Not sure he wants me to say what he does now…
@Grey, Oh, no worries. Just thought he had a pretty solid radio voice – or phone sex operator voice, whichever you prefer. Well done again on the podcast. It was actually listenable (is that a word?), which I’ve never really found those to be.
*Closer Alert*
According to MASN, Showalter says Jim Johnson is not his closer yet. Gregg and Lindstrom are still in the mix. Guh…
@Wilsonian, That makes perfect sense. A difference of like 2 in xFIP should never determine a closer battle!
@royce!, Haha. As a lifelong Cubs fan, I don’t see how Gregg could ever have a closer’s job again. And Lindstrom has been dealing with arm and back problems this spring and is still just throwing off of flat ground. So I have no clue. I don’t get paid to be a “real” manager, though…
Hey Grey, sorry for the lack of info. It’s a standard 5×5 10 team h2h league.
C Arencibia

@Jarred, I’m assuming that CJ Wilson and not Brian and in that case the pitching is very strong as is the hitting, but the hitting is lacking a bit of speed, which isn’t a terrible thing in H2H. Overall solid team.
Good to finally put a voice to the ‘stache! Great work by yourself and Rudy. Very entertaining stuff! Can’t wait for next week!
I created a Google doc that compares your entire rankings to Yahoo’s. Interesting stuff. One thing that stuck out to me is, despite your preference to punt catchers, you still rank 2 of the top C McCann and Wieters 2-3 rounds higher than Y! Just found that interesting. Also the difference in ranking of the top tier of closers shows your love for SAGNOF. There’s a few other things that stick out but I’ll just let you and everybody else view for your pleasure…

@B.o.B., Thanks for the kind words and the spreadsheet, others will probably appreciate it. Maybe you drop it in the comments tomorrow earlier in the day for people…
Will do
@B.o.B., Cool…
thought i could fall asleep again to another boring podcast but this was very entertaining. nice work. looking forward to the next one!
@Jah, Thanks!
@Grey and Rudy: Phenomenal stuff. The song, the content, everything. And after a year or two of reading articles/comments where you guys knock your voices, I was surprised. For some reason I was expecting to hear a couple Pee-wee Hermans discussing fantasy baseball, but ya’ll sounded good. I think Nick takes the cake though. Felt like I was listening to a Canadian John Sterling. Without the yelling.
@Marty Funkhouser, Ha… Thanks!
this is outstanding gents! keep up the good work – looking forward to next week’s podcast!
@Joe, Thanks!
omfg.
@IowaCubs, Oh, yeah.
MAN STRENGTH!
@IowaCubs, Ha!
@Grey, This needs to be a glossary term.
@IowaCubs, It is pretty good, huh?
Greatest podcast ever!!! You make Beherns podcast look like a pile of dogshit. One suggestion if u could do email or call in Q&A that would be tits.
@Chicago Mike, Thanks! I’m sure as we get into the season we’ll stretch out more things to do. Already have some guests lined up… And I’m not talking schmos from other fantasy sites.
Great podcast. Make sure you set up an rss feed so I can get this on my Android phone. THANK YOU
@Bob, Thanks! It’s set up now, no? Can you not use iTunes with an Android?
@Grey, Nope, Apple won’t let Android play with iTunes. I can get podcasts, but I need a feed address, like this:
http://wtfpod.libsyn.com/rss
Thanks! F Matthew Berry
@Bob, Hmm… Does this work for you: http://razzball.com/feed/podcast/
@Grey, Didn’t work for me on Podtrapper.
@SmokeTNT, What’s Podtrapper? Is that an Android app?
@Grey, SmokeTNT, Don’t know if this helps, but I just browsed to this post on an Android and successfully downloaded the podcast as an MP3 via the ‘Razzball Podcast’ link below the intro paragraph.
@Grey, I have Podtrapper on my EVO, I just put in RSS feeds and then I can download podcasts directly to my phone. I use it and Stitcher, which streams podcasts instead of downloading, I think a podcast has to be submitted for Stitcher though.
@SmokeTNT, Try http://razzball.com/feed and see if that does the trick…
@Grey, That did the trick, downloading now.
@SmokeTNT, Cool…
Great stuff Grey & Rudy. Ya’ll sound good. Isn’t it weird to hear you own voice on the air? I record a lot of dummy voice over when I produce spots and my speaking voice is cringe inducing.
Theme song is sick.
@3FingersBrown, Thanks! Yeah, it’s totally weird/uncomfortable to hear. Though not as bad as seeing yourself on screen.
I would agree with the general sentiment: epic intro song, nice to have the dulcet tones of Nick moderating you barnyard animals, and the usual level of fantasy goodness we have come to expect from ones Mr. Grey and Mr. Gamble.
However, you did “shatter my world” a bit in revealing that the little man behind the Rudy Gamble curtain is, indeed, as white as sheep’s wool. Could this be considered the Internet equivalent of wearing blackface? That didn’t work out too well on The Challenge (Ex’s).
Note to John Q. Public: if you have to ask yourself “Is this racist?”, then yes, it probably is.
I think it’s okay as long as I don’t slather any shoe polish or nutella on my face. And I don’t modify my voice or vocabulary.
