Time was, when you looked terrible in a photograph, it was something you and the other people in the photo would get a good laugh over. These days, it gets blasted out to thousands of people, destined to be immortalized for eternity. Let’s all get a good laugh at the worst photo of Ralph ever taken. If you’ve ever watched his YouTube show, you know he doesn’t actually look like that, which is what makes it so funny. It would be pretty messed up otherwise. On to the podcast! We start by talking about the recent call-ups of Derek Fisher, Lewis Brinson, Matt Chapman, and Tom Murphy, before moving on to discuss our post MLB Draft thoughts on where certain prospects landed, including DL Hall, Jeren Kendall, and Pavin Smith. Finally, we close the show by figuring out where Mickey Moniak, AJ Puk, and Bo Bichette would fit into a top 100 ranking, and also try to predict who will be the next big-time prospects to get the call. It’s the latest edition of the Razzball Fantasy Baseball Prospect Podcast:

But Fat Ralph looks so cuddly Halp!

Looking for some sleeper value from the Draft Halp. Did some interweb scouting on Andrew Bechtold. 3B out of Chipola College. Went in the 5th round to the Twins. Looks like he could have some speed/power potential with a decent hit tool. What do you think?

    • Halp

      Halp says:
      (link)

@Rosscoe: hahah … yea, Bechtold looks like a decent deep rd sleeper. He doesn’t really have a standout skill, but he has a chance to be a solid all around 3B. Maybe more of a 2nd division regular type ceiling, though.

Dude, any guess on when Moncada will be called up and if the White Sox are just actually content with their middle infield situation?

    • Halp

      Halp says:

@Fister Furbush: My guess is that he will take over for Yolmer Sanchez by around the all star break. By that time it is a safe bet that he will pass the Super Two date, and hopefully will have shook off any effects from the thumb injury that has slowed him down recently (he exploded last night going 4 for 4 with a homer).

    Halp,

    For next year:

Would you move Hanley and JA Happ for Brinson and Pujols

    • Halp

      Halp says:
      (link)

@Nightpandas: For just next season, I think I have a slight lean towards Hanley and Happ. If it is a shallower league, I can see going for the upside with Brinson. And in a dynasty or long term keeper, I would take the Brinson side.

      • Nightpandas says:

        @Halp: thanks bro,

15 team but we only keep 11

        • Halp

          Halp says:

@Nightpandas: hmmm … I think I’m leaning the Brinson side with that one.

Good morning as always great podcast. You and grey gave me great advice last week. I kept Trevor story because I agree he should start hitting at least home runs. Average is donkey doo. These are the shortstops available
    Jonathan villar dl
    Jean segura dl
    Chris Taylor
    Andrelton simmons
    Eduardo Nunez
    Didi Gregarious

Would u hold or pick one of these up rest of season? Need help

    • Halp

      Halp says:
      (link)

@Jacobi Barron: Thanks, Jacobi! I do like Story to heat up, but I think Segura and Nunez are firmly better and safer options than Story right now. Segura should be back in the next week or so from a high ankle sprain. If you have the room, I would pick up Segura and DL him, and then pick up Nunez.

@Halp: thank you !!! Was struggling with a decision

  5. Dave Weinnstein says:

What are your thoughts on Tyler Mahle? He doesn’t seem to have elite strikeout potential, but he sure seems like a winner.

    • Halp

      Halp says:
      (link)

@Dave Weinnstein: I’m generally on board, but I am still a little turned off by the ballpark and he is more of a ground ball guy than a strikeout guy. On a real life list I would rank him higher for those reasons, but he is still a top 100 fantasy prospect right now for me.

Can you name some NL guys that weren’t on top 100 prospect lists at start of year but will be appearing on them soon or just real high upside guys.(like Acuna last year at this time).
    Thx

    • Halp

      Halp says:
      (link)

@Alan: Scott Kingery, Taylor Trammel and Colton Welker come to mind. Can’t guarantee Taylor and Welker will be high on mainstream lists, but they should be.

      • Alan says:
        (link)

@Halp: thx. What do you think happens with Willie Calhoun and Roman Quinn the rest of the year?

        • Halp

          Halp says:
          (link)

@Alan: tough to say. I think both will get at bats at some point but no idea

        • Ralph Lifshitz

@Alan: Quinn is rehabbing an elbow injury in Florida, won’t see him until mid-late July.

          • Alan says:
            (link)

@Ralph Lifshitz: thanks a lot guys. Ralph, can I ask you the same question. Can you name some NL guys that weren’t on top 100 prospect lists at start of year but will be appearing on them soon or just real high upside guys.(like Acuna last year at this time).

Worth buying low in Salazar? Think he turns it around next year ? Like maybe Taijuan and a pick

    • Halp

      Halp says:
      (link)

@Nightpandas: Worried about injuries with him before the year and now also performance. I don’t think I’m buying low. I’d stick with Walker

  8. AL KOHOLIC says:

    nice stuff guys thanks

  9. David says:

Great stuff! Please rank these guys in dynasty: Puig, Fisher, Mancini. OBP instead of AVG, and SLG and XBH are categories also. Thanks

    • Halp

      Halp says:
      (link)

@David: puig, fisher, mancini, but i really wouldnt argue any order. Mancini has been killing it though, so i probably wouldnt move him for fisher if i had him.

    Great podcast again!
If Halp , Ralph, or any commenters are still around,
In a dynasty setting where you could potentially keep forever, who are the 2 you would DROP from this list:

    Jon Gray
    Sean Manaea
    Jacob Faria
    Triston McKenzie
    A.J. Puk
    Walker Buehler
    Brent Honeywell

I understand they all have what most consider good to great upside, I am just looking for as many opinions as possible, thanks!

    • Halp

      Halp says:
      (link)

@Slappy Jack: thanks! I would drop faria and then try to trade gray. If you cant, i think puk might be the low man.

  11. Sport says:
    (link)

Nader is available in my 16 team dynasty. I’m not competing. Would you drop one of these guys for him?
Chapman, Isan Diaz, Calhoun, Kingery, Collins, JP Crawford, Kolby Allard.
I also have Acuna and Robles so I know better than to list them, but it’s a nice OF depth for the future.
    I’m leaning towards Allard.

    Thank you

    • Halp

      Halp says:
      (link)

@Sport: if he still available, i would wait a longer to see how he looks. You have good enough prospects that if you lose it isnt a big deal.

      • Sport says:
        (link)

@Halp: Would it matter if autocorrect hadn’t changed it from Nader to Bader?!

        My question was about Bader

        • Halp

          Halp says:
          (link)

@Sport: haha … I thought you meant Hader! I like him more than Diaz personally.

  12. SR says:
    (link)

    Ryan McMahon
    Max Fried
    Carson Fulmer
    Sixto Sanchez
    Josh Naylor

Some decent guys dropped in my 16 team dynasty league with 40 man rosters. Any worth urgently picking up? McMahon and maybe Sanchez are the guys I might be interested in.

Mahle would probably be the first guy to be dropped, followed by maybe Jesus Sanchez or Cody Reed. I guess I’m trying to evaluate if a prospect like Mahle is necessarily worth rosterering, considering guys like Skaggs, Hahn, and Gsellman (who have a realized level of production comparable to a Mahle’s projection/ceiling) can be snagged over the course of a season for free.

I’ve also dropped guys like Laureano, Jahmai Jones, Desmond Lindsay, Dillon Tate over the course of the season who’re still out there, but their stock has probably cratered. I’m not even confident Dillon Tate is alive at this stage.

@SR: haha. Ryan mcmahon has looked very good and he has always had the talent. Relatively close to the majors too. He isnt a must add though. I probably prefer him to both cody reeds though
