How does this work? Does ESPN require only ten games the prior season to be eligible in the next, or is that only an in-season prereq.? It looks like Lind is only DH eligible in my league, though he played 16 games in the OF last year. Just curious as I can keep him as a last round keeper, but have little interest in keeping him at UT all year. Not sure if you still will see this given how old the article is, but whatever….

Berkman should get OF early on for STL. Michael Young could get 1B, 2B, or SS eventually for TEX but it may take a while. Figgins could get 3b.

Other than Youkilis moving to third and Prado going to the outfield, who else is moving positions this year that doesn’t show up on their initial position eligibility in Yahoo leagues?

I was wondering if you remembered from the past if Yahoo awards position eligibility to those that have started 5 or more games but played less than 10 at a certain position. I’m sure there are very few cases of this but I was just curious.

Hey Grey,
Thanks a lot for doing this work for us. I know you said 10 games was your requirement but Yahoo’s rules in the past have said 5 starts at a position gives that player eligibility for that year. Any idea if that carries over to the next year?

@Eddy: There are exceptions. ESPN sets the primary position themselves. So, for example, even though Youkilis only played 2 games at third last year, if Boston designates Adrian at first and Youk at third to start the season, ESPN MAY (likely will?) assign Youk 3B as primary and 1B additional (based on games played there last year).

@Grey: Thanks, good to hear ya like the team. Quick question, i was debating with my friend on the topic of position eligibility. I'm under the assumption that if a player DID NOT play 20 games or start 10 at a position the previous season, he won't retain eligibility in the position he don't play. i.e: Casey McGhee had 2B/3B in 2010 because of 2009. Yet in 2010 he spent 6 games away from 3B (at 1B and DH for inter league play I'm assuming). This means he'd lose 2B no? McGhee doesn't have 2B in MDC. On the other hand, would this same rule strip Adam Dunn of OF eligibility (which he currently has in MDC) for 2011 and leave him with only 1B/DH? He didn't spend a single game in the OF in 2010.

the top 50 list , for starters (<= not SP's) .

are you out here on the east coast ?

the wind is freakin' whipping up to 50 mph in some spots .
north and west of here (ct) they're projectin up to 2 feet of snow ,
by tomorrow .
over here , on the coast , only 5-6" , so far .

if you're in jersey , you're screwed .

as the guy who actually had the 26th pick sniped kemp .

am liking kemp to turn it around this year , but am concerned about
the climate , out in LA , with that whole divorce thing .

is #25/26 about as early as you would go with kemp , considering
the risk/reward ?
any earlier and he’s getting lumped in with howard-fielder-holiday .
would you take him before any of those guys ?

How is it that no one is discussing Hawpe signing with the Padres?!!! Merry Christmas San Diego!

Haha, just joking…bummer that Padres signings are most relevant to people who participate in a fantasy Razzball league. Hawpe seems like he could provide serious (reverse) value at 1B.
