On Dancer!  On Prancer!  On–Oh, I didn’t hear you come in.  Welcome, reader!  Grab some egg nog and brandy it up to the fire.  You look festive.  I love that Rudolph tongue ring, though not as much as I love reading discussion about the new iPhone commercial, Misunderstood.  When I first saw it, the first thing I thought was, “How sweet, a baby-faced lesbian has made a video for her much older lesbian girlfriend’s family.”  Only later did I realize it’s a teenaged boy and his mom.  That’s the great thing about Christmas, no matter what your interpretation is, it’s all about commercialism.  The 2014 fantasy baseball rankings are not far away.  Right now, January Grey is throwing darts at a board to figure out where to rank Coco Crisp.  Exciting!  In the meantime, let’s look at the players who have multiple position eligibility for this upcoming 2014 fantasy baseball season.  This took me far longer than it probably should’ve.  Can’t someone write me a program that sorts all the players by games played at a position?   Why do I need to go through every player on every roster?  It totally harshes my buzz.  I did this list of multi-position eligible players because I figured it would help for your 2014 fantasy baseball drafts.  I’m a giver, snitches!  Happy Holidays!  I only listed players that have multiple position eligibility of ten games or more played outside of their primary position.  Not FIVE games at a position, not six, definitely not seven.  Ten games.  10, the Laurel & Hardy of numbers.  So this should cover Yahoo, ESPN, CBS, et al (not the Israeli airline).  Yes, Christmas came a day early this year.  Players with multiple position eligibility are listed once alphabetically under their primary position.  On a different post, I’ll make some comments about some of the players.  In the mean’s while, you make comments in these comments.  Say that fast 117 times!  Anyway, here’s all the players with multiple position eligibility for the 2014 fantasy baseball season and the positions they are eligible at:

I’m struggling with how to view Jose Abreu in Chi-town. Where should he be drafted?

    • Raftman says:

@Wade Ortega: I’m wondering the same thing… from what I’ve read, he could really turn into anything from Adam Dunn to M. Cabrera.

    • The Thumb says:
      (link)

@Wade Ortega: baring anything crazy in spring training to add to the hype, he’ll probably go around 70ish. Right where Yoenis was his first year.

      • SwaggerJackers says:
        (link)

@The Thumb: I could see him falling farther than 70. Maybe closer to 90 or 100. In my 12 team snake draft last year, Ike Davis went 92 and Rizzo went 98.

@Grey: Trumbo (whom Grey equates to Abreu) tracking around #75 in mocks. Abreu around #150 (likely ’cause unknown? or real assessment of risk?).

Happy Christmas as they say in the UK.

Scratch that, this is an American website.

    So…… happy holidays everyone!

Nah. Thats too generic. I must pander to the politically correct who deem the word “Chistmas” as too religious to thrust upon strangers for a greeting. However omitting the word and replacing it with “holidays” seems like a cop out.

    Happy Hanukkah Grey!

Again, not an ideal greeting as its specific to one person. In this greeting I am omitting all other contributors, posters and readers of razzball. A Jewish only greeting also totally omits the different faiths of the contributors, posters and readers who may be Buddhists, Sikhs, Mormons or Atheists.

    Um…..everyone have a great 25th of December!

On seconds thoughts this may be innapropriate to people who are poor, homeless or are having difficulties such as substance abuse or the recent loss of a loved one in their life and will not have a great 25th of December.

    I give up………

    Keep 12 with no limitations: Active Weekly Roster 2 C, 2 1B, 2 SS, 2 2b, 2 3b, 5 of, 6 SP, 5 RP…

    Definite Keepers:
    1b P. Goldschmidt SS J. Reyes 2b I. Kinsler Of R. Braun SP C. Hamels SP Z. Greinke

    Probables: C J. Mauer, 2b B. Phillips, 3b N. Arenado, 3b K. Seager, Of H. Pence, Of A. Gordon, Of C. Beltran, C V. Martinez (pending eligibility at C), SP H. Bailey, SP D. Salazar, SP F. Liriano, SP P. Corbin, SP J. Weaver, RP J. Nathan

Who would your 12 be? I’m hoping to get some draft picks for some of these players as 120 people are kept each season…

I’m surprised to hear you like Liriano over Homer Bailey…I’ve been seeing a lot of hype out of him…I’m with you and thinking Gordon bats third this year could be a sleeper. If vmart retains his eligibility at catcher…keep him over liriano?? Gotta defend that championship!!! It was a long time building this team to win by 1 point (7 years)!

@Grey: i know, but is he worse than
redmond /oberholtzer/morton/or vargas? I’m already going to bid on lewis/a.white/torres but could dump chen and attempt to grab a 4th guy from that list.

Grey – Yahoo position eligibility is based on 10 games played and five games started.

I should know because Josh Hamilton has left field and center field (six starts) eligibility retained as well as last years’ starting position.

Additionally, Joe Mauer retained C/1B eligibility because he started 8 times at first base.

    • goodfold2 says:

@George: other sites have more games needed. yahoo is the easiest site to qualify at .

what kind of ballpark should the bids I submit be on guys like
    RP
    - qualls
    - d.carpenter
    SP
    - c.lewis
    - alex white (currently listed as RP, not SP on ATL depth charts, so i might not want to bid on him unless we find he’s starting)
    - C.Torres
same 32.6 million or possibly 30.6 free if I get calhoun.

@goodfold2: sorry, HOU’s depth chart for white, not ATL.

i’m being told that we need to give extensions before this season starts, even though all drafted (but not dropped) players are still under contract till end of 2014. extensions are for exactly 2 more years (2015-16) and the cost is an extra 6 million more than current contract. the other methods of retaining players are restricted tag(s), and franchise tag(s) (we pay real life money, which is usually more than our fantrax prices). I currently only have Sale extended (so he’ll cost 6.4 mil in 2015-16, but only 400K this year). should I extend any of these people? I thought i could do this after 2014 season, but only before. price listed is before adding the 6 million if I extended them.
    beltre (15 mil, likely candidate)
    lowrie (1.15 mil)
    a-jax (.4 mil)
kuroda (10 mil, could be better off franchising him, as his real life contract is short and the same amount of money as here)
    erasmo (.4 mil)
    estrada (.4 mil)
    b.chen (4.5 mil)
    e.santana (11.2 mil)
burton (.75 mil, probably dumb to extend non-closer RP, or even closers, unless kimbrel-like elite)
    j.johnson (2.625 mil)
    o’day (1.251 mil)
i could extend any number of them, including none.

I wouldn’t extend Chen, but you just said you didn’t own him in a different comment so there’s that… I wouldn’t extend Burton, O’Day or Kuroda

      • goodfold2 says:
        (link)

@Grey: i do own chen, i mentioned chen wasn’t currently owned by a real life team. so I should extend everybody you didn’t mention then

Can’t wait for the rankings pick one keeper for next year only e Cabrera or puig for $5 in my auction league. Love getting speed at ss but is it worth throwing puig back? Already keeping Machado Gomez Harper Strasberg

    • goodfold2 says:
      (link)

@goodfold2: might be able to dump off bruce chen to the seager owner as well. he has gallo and oropesa CI prospects. I could certainly use CI upgrade as my only one is that schlub jimenez at LAA. chen could be replaced by one of those earlier mentioned SP.

i’m noticing wil smith is listed as SP for MIL. 7th in order though so not likely starting without injuries/demotions. more interested in him than any of lewis/torres/alex white (listed as 3rd bullpen guy, right behind c.lo and zeid), or if not at least over redmond/vargas/morton?

been reading up on gallo CI TEX. he appears to be another chris carter (42% K rate last year, but 80 grade power) and my team is devoid of any decent CI prospects, and devoid of really any power hitters (amongst prospects). Is a trade of him for my b.chen and b.maurer good for me (can probably get opp to throw in mid to late round pick too)

    • Grey

Sounds okay… He’s far off, a lot can happen, and he Ks a lot…

      • Aubrey Plaza's Pillow says:
        (link)

@Grey: true, but we do certainly know what chen’s gonna do, and I don’t think maurer is big deal either (hope not, if he’s big upside i’d rather keep). But i’ve never owned a donkey.

        • Aubrey Plaza's Pillow says:
          (link)

@Aubrey Plaza’s Pillow: opp wants to wait and see Chen gets signed somewhere. can’t say i blame him. that would be a shitty deal for him if Chen doesn’t even sign anywhere.

  32. Aubrey Plaza's Pillow says:

now that we know Al Al isn’t gonna be closing, do I want R J Alvarez P LAA more than Al Al?

    • Aubrey Plaza's Pillow says:
      (link)

@Aubrey Plaza’s Pillow: never mind, i noticed Al Al is only under contract (in this league) till end of 2014, vs my alvarez’s end of 2017. big difference. so even if Al Al were to become a closer in a year or 2, it wouldn’t be on my roster as i’m not spending tags or extra money to keep a non-closer RP.

@Grey: It does *seem* odd, but not if it means more line drives. I don’t discount anything this guy does anymore.

Happy Chrismukkah Grey! Without wasting too much of your time, where is the best place on the site, if not here, to direct keeper league questions regarding setting/amending league rules(mainly draft pick trading)? I am commissioner of a league entering its second season. 10 teams, up to 10 keepers per, 171 trades in first year to give you an idea of league activity. All owners are friends which makes it even more dramatic and competitive when there is an issue. I do not have the keeper league experience of others in league, but was deemed to be fairest and most trustworthy to run league. The aforementioned superlatives were written on the short straw it seems. Enough time wasted, my apologies. Don’t want to be “that guy” asking you 7 bagillion questions about the same crap roster wanting to keep the same crap players who should all just be dropped. You know who you are, guy. Thanks in advance! Looking forward to your rankings and appreciate the eligibility update.
