Before the NAAPP, National Association for the Advancement of Polish People, write me, it’s not Polish, it’s polish. Pa-lish. Not Pole-lish… Oh, forget it. David Murphy has a hit in every game this month and, with Hamilton out, he’s playing every day. In the month of September, he has a .380 average, 2 homers, 3 steals, 10 RBIs and 7 instances of “Who the hell is David Murphy?” from fantasy owners. Texas Rangers media guide has him listed as “That Guy” and a picture of William Fichtner. When Murphy goes to the plate, there’s no song playing. Know why? Cause he’s unsung! Thank you, don’t forget to tip your waitresses. I know the prevailing thought with Murphy is he’s a platoon player, but why does that have to be Murphy’s Law? Well, because he can’t hit lefties usually but he is right now, so, like a trophy wife, own while hot. Anyway, here’s some more players to buy or sell this week in fantasy baseball:
BUY
Emilio Bonifacio – If you picked up Bonifacio in April of 2009 in your keeper then were abducted by aliens, your team’s looking good again. The Xavier Nady pickup doesn’t look too bad either. Though you may want to switch out Cantu.
Drew Stubbs – This guy’s value goes from Carlos Gonzalez to Carlos Gomez from at-bat to at-bat.
Michael Brantley – If you’re the kind of guy who draws a face on fruit right before you bite it just to show you’re in charge, then you know what I’m going to say, because I’m that guy too. Brantley = SAGNOF!
Wilson Betemit – It’s feast or famine with these peasant Royals. Mostly famine. Right now, it’s feast for Betemit. At any point, he’ll drop the boom and go back to MOS — ‘Mit out starting job.
Mike Aviles – Hitting .500 over the last week with 2 homers and a 1 steal. And that’s about all the enthusiasm I can drum up for him.
Clay Hensley – Did you ever want to call him Hay Clensley? Me too! Oh, and he’s the closer for the Marlins.
Chris Sale – I went over my Chris Sale fantasy the other day. Since then, Ozzie’s already ignored exactly what he said the day before, so is Sale the closer? No idea. If you can read Ozzie’s mind, you have my sympathy.
Juan Gutierrez – Has 5 saves this month. SAGNOF! And has only given up one run. Incredible!
Carlos Zambrano – Right now, CZ is looking like a diamond and should be owned.
Chris Narveson – Never Nervous Narveson has been solid since the All-Star break and the same can be said about last year. In fact, I just did. Not looking past Sunday’s start, but I like him there as you see at the borderline starters post.
James McDonald – I’m starting to think I might draft him in some leagues next year. Internal Monologue, “He pitches for the Pirates.” Okay, I’m starting to think I might consider drafting him.
Ian Kennedy – Not entirely sure why he isn’t owned in more than 30% of ESPN leagues, but when you consider 95% of ESPN are abandoned, he’s actually owned in a whopping 125% of leagues, so good luck picking him up!
Chris Young – Not exactly sure when Cristall Young will be starting in Petco, but that’s when I’d start him. Nowhere else unless you have a hankering for a spankering.
SELL
Josh Hamilton – I enjoyed this son of a gun (S.O.G.?) this year. He did work, son. Now he’s limping towards the ‘offs and the Rangers need him healthy so they aren’t going to play him much at all.
Gavin Floyd – You guys had some good times, which was invariably followed by bad times then good times then bad times — Make up your mind, Floyd! At this point, I’d set Gavin a sail.
Phil Hughes – This could really go for a lot of starters that were good earlier in the year. It ain’t earlier in the year anymore. Kapeesh or no kapeesh? ‘Stood or no stood? Y’hear or no y’hear?
Justin Upton – J-Upside’s been sitting on his backside and, let’s be honest, he wasn’t exactly killing it T.J. Lavin-style even when he was playing. You need to look elsewhere.
Leo Nunez – See 7 inches above or Clay Hensley or Hay Clensley.
Jimmy Rollins – At the rate his career is going, he’s gonna get batteries thrown at him at Citizens Flank in 2011 and cheered in 2012 when he returns with another team.
Mark Reynolds – A once heroic tale called, “Me and My Mini Donkey,” about a man affectionately referred to as Mini Donkey who hit homers, stole bases and struck out 200 times has turned sour. Mini Donkey can’t steal bases because of nagging injuries and has zero homers and is batting .079 in September. Then Robbie Williams, some guy no Americans have ever heard of, sued claiming “Me and My Mini Donkey” stole the chorus from “Me and My Monkey.” Reynolds lost the case and he had to return his 2009 season. A sad turn of events, indeed.

So I should go ahead and drop Upton in a redraft league? Ugh.
If so, would you grab Brantley or Nady if I’m most in need of runs, SBs and avg?
Thanks.
Oh. Swisher’s on waivers as well so I could add him over the weekend. Obviously not a source of speed, but he’s been good for runs this year.
J. Sanchez has been on a tear lately. His numbers are rivaling his Cy Young teammate.
Where do you see him falling in your rankings next year?
@Earl Battey: Go with Brantley.
@Jeff: I don’t think people who even own him appreciate him, so I don’t think he’ll be overrated. Probably will be draftable in 12th-15th rounds.
@Grey: im one of those people who dont appreciate sanchez, lol, in my h2h league its tough throwing a guy who could walk 5+ in any game…. then throw a no no the next game, if he cuts the walks 4.3/9 he could be unreal next year…
I cut Hughes yesterday, probably a week or month too late, but oh well, i couldn’t part, but its do or die right now and he’s defly cuttable… if thats a word.
on a side note: Jonathon Sanchez went to OHIO Dominican University, i’m from ohio, that was news to me….
@Grey:
Polanco or Mark Ellis the rest of the way?
Hi Grey, H2H redraft here, just looking to ride the hot hands, stats in a vacuum.
I’ve got Thames, Quentin and Phillips on my bench for next week, already picked up Betemit, Brantley, Espinosa and Murphy. Espinosa hasn’t done much this week, and I’m considering moving Tabata and Burrell for some of the following possibilities — Kalish, Hardy, Gomes, Nady, Aviles, McLouth.
Thanks in advance.
@Tony: Yeah, I could see how he could be less valuable in a H2H league compared to a roto one.
@MrHappyTime: Ellis
@Casey Blake’s Beard: Kalish, Aviles, Gomes over Tabata, Burrell and Thames.
In the heat of the battle of the Semi’s, appreciate the pitchers you mentioned. Already have Kennedy going tonight, and may be grabbing McDonald for tomorrow as well. The hot mess Teddy Lilly dropped in my lap last night has me neck and neck with the other guy in ERA/WHIP. I may need to take chances since he’s lapping me in the HR department with Tulo. Will be sweating out the weekend.
Thanks for the information Grey.
Word is Torre is done in LA.
Replacement? Donnie Baseball.
@Frank Rizzo: No problem.
@Black Beard: Wow
@Grey: I’m a concerned Matt Kemp owner.
I don’t why I think this, but for some reason this news smacks of the Mets…
@Black Beard: …maybe because it doesn’t seem like a whole lot of thought went into it.
Just for Saturday and Sunday, who do you like better:
Hay Clensley or Juan Goot?
im up 18 innings,leading or tied in era and whip,do i start felix against tex and kuroda vs col?thanks
I’m fearful of the ramifications of your mentioning Gutierrez.
I’ve secretly had him on one team for a while and he’s been great.
Almost mentioned how useful he’s been yesterday but didn’t want to jinx it…
@AL KOHOLIC: What league is that Al?
i new i should have changed my name for that one,our keeper
@AL KOHOLIC: Hehe. It’s a tight race and no mistake. I’m way over the limit but I’ve had a bunch of starts the last few days that are too good to ignore.
grey ,start king felix and kuroda today?hehe
@Steve: im sitting latos already and johnson is done for the year,so im thinking yes start them
@Black Beard: Seems a bit weird to not let Torre play out the season.
@Wilsonian: Hensley
@AL KOHOLIC: I’d start both.
@Steve: Sorry for the potential jinx.
@elvis the drunk: Ha!
THANKS FROM BOTH OF ME
@Grey: That Gutierez? He’s crap (emoticon).
Gutierrez, I mean. Gotta get these things right.
So I should drop Hamilton for Murphy?
@Grey:
Who do you think is the best starter Grey?
Arroyo @HOU
Beckett vs TOR
Enright @PIT
McDonald vs ARI
Braden @MIN
Masterson @KC
Thanks a bunch!
@Steve: Yeah, total slob.
@Dominic: Yup
@Eddy: Arroyo
@Grey: Sorry about you and your spurned affection for Reynolds. Rough year for jackasses overall.
Carrying Peralta @ 1B/3B into the final Championship week. Looking for overall production, would you prefer Swish, Pena, C. Johnson, or Betemit? Thanks!
@zombie: Wasn’t a bad year for Big Donkey. Betemit…
@Grey: Not bad? Not bad? He’s been ee-aw, ee-aw, ee-awesome!
Got him for 15 bucks in the keeper where we count OBP. Think he’s a $20 keeper?
@Steve: I didn’t say not bad, I said it wasn’t bad. I think there’s a small distinction. He’s worth $20. He’s always undervalued especially in OBP leagues.
@Grey: @Steve: True. I apologies. You sometimes take his reliability for granted (thus aptly named). A beast of burdunn indeed.
@zombie: Ha!
@Grey: Yeah, sorry. I twisted your words there for my own lame comedic purposes.
@Grey: To answer your question from the previous post, yes, I think the rule was put in place so people don’t go stream-crazy in the playoffs.
In Hamilton’s case, his owner would be screwed if he were to have made the playoffs. This is a keeper league though, so dropping him would be a pretty bold move regardless.
Yeah very tough. I’m actually playing against the Commish right now. He wasn’t comfortable making the decision and not enough guys are left paying attention to put it up for a vote. In the interest of fairness and to avoid controversy, I offered to drop Pelf instead of making a big deal of it.
I also figured the game would be rained out – and Big P would be pitching tonight aginst Los Bravos – since a tornado touched down about 2 hours before game time. A tree actually took out my folks car about 2 miles from Metco! Too bad the rain didn’t keep falling. At least Pagan did some work.
We’ll see what goes down. I got 6 starts left to his 7, so anything can happen…
Torre’s done. It’s on mlb.com.
I’m giving Floyd one more start against OAK.
Actually, I advocated for a transaction cap in my league this season (65 — trying to curb the habit) and now I’m the only one who’s even close to it (64). It’s kind of fun, actually. Looking at my roster feels like being sealed with a bunch of men in a sub that’s going down, fathom by fathom. No escape for any of us. No, not even you, Smashbuckler.
Ha! After sitting through a day-long marathon of whatever the last RW/RR Challenge was (The Inferno Duel of the Sexes and Drunken Bloody Orgy Revenge, I think) my wife and I are constantly using (in the most deadpan voice possible) the phrase “You killed it.” to heap praise on one another.
Grey,
Im forced to sit on of these starters today and im not sure who to sit…
Brett Anderson @ MIN (Blackburn)
Max Scherzer @ CWS (Jackson)
Mauer Kubel Span and im guessing Thome(not sure) are sitting today for minnesota, whereas konerko, rios, quentin, and beckham are sitting for chicago… im leaning towards Max but im not sure. Who do you think I should go with?
one* of these starters, sorry
Looks like my H2H semifinal opponent is picking up a bunch of starters, possibly to stop me from using them.
Dirty pool or all’s fair in love and H2H?
@Steve: Don’t get it twisted!
@3FingersBrown: Yeah, that makes sense. Still not crazy about it, but I guess I can understand it. In keepers though, it makes it more interesting if anyone can be dropped.
@Steve: Or until another offer comes along.
@Baron Von Vulturewins: Ha! Yeah, not crazy about max moves. If I wanna pick up and drop Betemit 17 times a year, it’s my prerogative.
@Awesomus Maximus: Ha! You and your wife are awesomus.
@joe from point pleasant: @joe from point pleasant: Scherzer
@Steve: All’s fair.
would you want betemit, robot or berkman to take over for mini-donkey in a 1b spot?
weekly lineup changes, so the replacement would be there for the entire round 2 of the playoffs. (seems like i’ll get there even with a pair of worthless diamondbacks.)
could go with dan johnson too.
@Grey: Upon further examination perhaps that’s not what he’s doing. Just would have thought that he’d realise that I’ve all but conceded Wins and Ks.
@brad: Berkman
@Steve: Who’s this, Roob?
@Grey: Nah. Different league. Roob is in the keeper, which is roto.
@Steve: Oh. Swalt. Blech.
I want to loose a player but hang on to hamilton as a keeper. Which lineup is the best 13 team roto 5×5. i could use some steal. If you have a better lineup than i proposed please advise.

And for Marquis to get clobbered.
@aj: Waive Lee.
@Steve: I just need three weeks of solid pitching. That is all.
Just noticed Angel Pagan cleared waivers. Who would you drop for him? I want my only bench spot to be Hamilton.
@aj: Lee?
I Just waived him but i wanted to get Gardner back in lineup also.
So i guess the question becomes who is the odd man out for Pagan? or do i roll with what i got?

@Grey:
What’s your take on Don Mattingly taking over dem Bums?
@Grey:
Its supposed to be next year btw from I hear.
@Elijah: I don’t put much weight on a manager. Girardi is the best manager because of his record or because of his players?
Flip flopping on Latos and Blackburn today in a 10×10 league. Also eyeballing MacDonald and Narveson for spot starts and Westbrook later against the ‘rates. I’m chasing a single point in wins…in second…but juuuust ahead in WHIP and ERA. K’s don’t matter. Gotta be cautious. Innings are well under.
Knowing my situation, what’s the rank and who do you start?
@knighttown: Latos, Narveson, Blackburn, Westbrook… I start all five.
@Grey:
I agree there but the Dodgers used to be the epitome of stable management and an organization where everyone was on the same page from farm to majors, and that I think is beneficial. No one could claim Lasorda was a great manager but he did get to four WS, and the organization has been a joke since then, just curious if you saw more of the same.
My weekly team clean up. Really making a run from down 25 points in my 10×10 to within 5…all in the last month.
MI- Neil Walker’s my concern. I need a strange combo of AVG=RBI>HR>Runs=SB but they all matter.
a) Drop walker for Aviles or Hardy?
b) Keep Walker and drop him when MMD is activated?
c) Keep playing Walker for the medium term.
BA=RBI>HR>SB=Runs
I’m mostly playing matchups, but assume they’re all facing, say, Barry Enright, what’s the order of preference for Ike, Logan and Garrett. Drop any for Betemit?
@Elijah: Jim Tracy was one of the worst managers I’d ever seen on the Pirates. He looks fine in Colorado. Guess it’s just hard for me to weigh the intangibles.
@knighttown: Aviles
And, one last one before I leave you to Polish your mustache. Order for Stanton, Logan, Kemp, Ichiro and Adam Jones.
Drop any for Murphy?
@knighttown: I’d hold on the corner infidels.
@knighttown: Logan
@knighttown: That’s Logan for Murphy.
@Grey:
I always thought Tracy was horrible myself but I guess his style goes well with that player. In any case, if they ever sell the darn team the new owners will want to do who knows what with it, including finding another manager.
I lied! One more. For a spot start, needing wins, WHIP and ERA, Arroyo @ Hou, Masterson @ KC or Anibal home to the Cubs.
@Elijah: I guess it could his style… I think he just stepped in shizz and got a better, more talented group of players.
@knighttown: Arroyo
Thanks much. One other: Is the ‘Stros closer shituation to the point of grabbing Hensley over Lyon?
@Casey Blake’s Beard: I’d grab Hensley.
Great effing time for my H2H team to go 1-14. Come on!
@Steve: I thought next thing I heard from you was elation for Marquis de Shat.
@Steve: Wow, I’m 0-for-20 in one league right now. Crimey.
@Grey: Aww shucks. By the way, thanks for the nudge to pick up Adam Jones. I really needed that dinger… even if it was at the expense of my Yankees.
Bautista franchise-record HR #48. Hillleft game after HBP – right wrist.
Latos just might have won my matchup for me. Brutal start for him.
@Awesomus Maximus: No problem. Reunion next week!
@VinWins: Insane…
@Black Beard: Yup
j-up pinch runs and gets a steal. . . maybe he could just do that every day, no batting or throwing.
he’d be like michael bourn minus 8 innings.
@brad: Ha
1. Have you bailed on CQ on any teams yet?
2. With Sale being used in an usave situation (again) and Hanrahan being bailed out by Meek. Would you rather have Sale or Hanrahan?
3. Rolen or Peralta in the 3B slot in OBP league?
@Grey: Oh really? I was waiting for the promo after the finale (which was lame, but they always are) and didn’t see one. Color me there!
Fred Lewis just got picked off first with the old “fake to third, throw to first” play.
@Grey: That joy has long since been erased by Latos and Chapman.
And my hitting has turned to shit. Did I mention that?
Daughterofabench! The opposite of a Sonofabench. Had Latos riding pine all day and threw him in minutes before puck drop.
Semi final of my head to head dynasty league playoffs. Would you Drop Beckham or Ian Stewart for Aviles, Lowrie, Ellis or Brendan Ryan and go for it as it looks like Beckham will be shut down soon and who knows when Stewart will be back?
I read today that Stewart is going on a rehab assignment tomorrow and could be back by the middle of the week. Everything I read about Beckham is that heyll be shut down as soon as CWS is eliminated.
@Steve: Oh – and how the **** am I leading HR 7-3 and losing RBI 19-15?
@Grey:
only thing that i’ve gotten right …. in a looooong time … is nail
that scherzer start (11k’s) .
now that i’m on a roll ,
somewhere , during this past year , i told of bobby valentine
coming back for the yankee job .
maybe ?
Bonifacio or Aviles? I know they bring different things, but who overall for the next 2 weeks? I can use all stats.
Just noticed that Billy Butler went 4/4 or 2/moob!
FFS. Two steals behind and Ethier and EYJ both caught stealing.
YOU GUTLESS BAZZTARDZ
let felix finish !
Ugh what happened with Latos? Was he just intolerant?
@big o:
Whatcha mean, I needed that Save!
I feel bad for myself to have to be writing this…
I need to choose two spot starters for sunday, just incase the person im playing catches up to me tomorrow.
Here are my options: gulp.
Hochevar v CLE(Tomlin)
Tomlin @ KC(Hochevar)
Maya @ PHI(Blanton) <–nats own blanton – .950 ops in 150 abs
Bonderman @ CWS(Danks)
Maybe maya is actually a good pitcher and we dont know it? I wont necessarily be starting them, but which two do you think are the best, or least bad.
Thank you so much Grey your the best.
@Grey: Start James McD vs. ARI?
Grey : Is Matt Garza in your sell category?
Grey : Would you lose A LaRoche for Butler or Lind right now?
@Mr2Bits:
Gabby Sanchez is also available?
Thanks
Anyone happen to know the default tie-breaker in the playoffs for an ESPN H2H league? My search produced different answers, but one of them says it goes to the higher seed… in which case, that sucks for me. Not only did I have (by far) the second best record in the league (0.5 games out of first) but the guy I’m matched up with I beat a combined 22-5-3, but he won his division, so he’s the higher seed.
Which of these corner infielders would you use to finish off the season(just your top 3):
Ike Davis, D Johnson, G Sanchez, Peralta, Swisher, L Scott
Leyland …. “COKE IS THE ANSWER”
@Grey:
Who do you trust more for a spot start today. Dillon Gee at home against the Braves or James Mcdonald at home against the D-backs?
@Awesomus Maximus: Yes, it is higher seeded team. Click on Rules and then Regular Season/Playoffs
@Awesomus Maximus: It is the same in my league. The 2nd place team in 1 division had a better record than the first place team in the other division.
Really is not a fair system, since in a 12-team league you play everybody twice. If you played more within your own division, then it would make sense.
Congrats, Grey on another great night from your borderliners.
Unfortunately, I made my own decisions earlier in the week, so my ERA and WHIP are lost causes.
@struggler: Yes, Hanrahan, Rolen…
@Awesomus Maximus: Oh, it’s there and Knight is kissing Ashley.
@VinWins: More surprising is Lewis was on first base.
@knighttown: Sorry…
@Bad Bob: Both for Aviles and Ellis.
@big o: Nice!
@ruah: Aviles
@Howard: Ha!
@joe from point pleasant: Tomlin, Maya… They’re terrible choices though.
@ThE sHiT: Sure
@Mr2Bits: Butler… Depends on Garza. Depends what is out there.
@ruah: The first three.
@big o: Ha
@MrHappyTime: http://razzball.com/borderline-fantasy-starters-week-24-25/
@VinWins: Thanks!
Hi Grey, I’m leading my semifinal 6-3 in my H2H league because of my pitching.
My pitching line : 6 W, 2 SV, 47 K, 1.93 ERA, 0.94 WHIP
My opponent line : 5 W, 2 SV, 41 K, 5.12 ERA, 1.38 WHIP
My opponent has the following starts remaining :
Tim Hudson @ NYM (Today)
Liriano vs Oak (Tomorrow)
Myers vs Cin (Tomorrow)
Wainwright vs SD (Tomorrow)
Now, back to my team, I’ve got these 5 options for today :
Lincecum vs Mil, Slowey vs Oak, Arroyo @ Hou, Chacin @ LAD, Beckett vs Tor. I’ve already put the first 3 in my starting lineup, but I’m wondering if you would start Chacin or Beckett or both or neither? (FYI, I’ve picked up Narveson (@SF) and Tommy Hunter (@Sea) for Tomorrow)
OK, so I have Davis already, would you take G Sanchez or D Johnson instead?
Need 2 solid streamer starts for tmrw. Down 530-515 in the finals, tmrw being the make or break day. Which two would you pick up, of the following:
Fister vs TEX
Tomlin @KC
Bobby Cramer @MIN
Hochevar vs CLE
Bonderman @CWS
Andrew Miller vs ChC
Zach Duke vs ARI
@Vince: I’d start Chacin.
@ruah: Eh
@charlie batch: Tomlin and Duke, but they’re terrible.
@Grey: one point from either of them is an extra point I wouldnt have otherwise, I appreciate the wisdom.
@Grey – Short on two-start pitchers next week if I make my H2H two-week finals (looking good the last week). Is Holland a tolerable 2-start option @LAAAAA (Weaver) and @OAK(Gonzales) or go with Sale as a 3rd closer? Thanks!
@Grey: Thank you!
I am with Baron von Vulturewins (#39). Don’t bail on Floyd now that he’s done with MN. Since the break, he’s 5-2 and 2.18 vs. anyone but Twins (0-4, 8.06).
Other than that, everything you have written is pure genius, Grey.
Hi Grey: I’m pretty sure that shallow league questions really chap your hide, but I’m hoping you’ll indulge me.
Weekly line-up, and as far as needs go: ERA = WHIP > Wins > Ks
This is one of those weeks where you wonder why you own so many AL East pitchers despite knowing better. Anyway, BENCH ONE:
Sabathia: v TB
Price: @ NYY (these two pitch against each other again)
Lester: @ NYY
D. Hudson v LAD
B. Norris: @ WAS, @ PIT
Greinke: @ DET, @ CLE
Verlander: v MIN
Thanks!
@Grey What do think about starting Beckett vs the BlueK’s at Fenway?
After what Gio did to my team last week, I’m having a hard time trusting him for his upcoming 2-start week. He gets the White Sox (Floyd) and the Rangers (Holland) in Oakland. I need wins, but do you think I should look elsewhere in order to save my ERA and WHIP?
Thanks.
@charlie batch: No problem.
@AnotherFalstaff: I’d go with the two start pitchers.
@Vince: No problem.
@itch: Yeah, you guys could be right. I just about most leagues, there’s still better or just as good options out there.
@Bum Juice: Norris
@Howard: I wouldn’t.
@Brad Havens: If you can…
Thanks Grey, now part 2 (of 3). Same question as last week. I’m looking for RBIs and HRs, in that order.
BENCH ONE:
S. Drew: 3 v COL, 3 v LAD
A. Hill: 3 v SEA, 3 v BAL
J. Reyes: 2 @ FLA, 3 @ PHI
Reyes has been hitting, and @ PHI looks nice, but only 5 games worries me.
@Bum Juice: Hill had to leave the game last night when he got hit on the wrist, so that’s the guy I’d bench.
@Bum Juice: Reyes
I suppose it would have been smart for me to give you a few Gio alternatives in my “should I bench Gio” post.
If I want to bench 2-start Gio, the best options seem to be:
Pavano vs CLE (Carmona)
Kennedy vs COL (Francis)
Carrasco @ MN (Blackburn)
Cueto @ MIL (Wolf)
I could also run another closer for this week and then look for better SP matchups the week after.
Thanks!
OK, Grey. Last one. I suppose I should just give you my password.
Again, looking for RBIs and HRs, in that order. Don’t really care about the other cats.
Can you pick two to play out of this group:
JGomes: 3 @ MIL, 3 @ SD
CQuentin: 3 @ OAK, 3 @ ANA
Matsui: 3 v TEX, 3 v CHW
Abreu: 3 v TEX, 3 v CHW
L. Scott: 3 @ BOS, 3 @ TOR
Markakis: 3 @ BOS, 3 @ TOR
Lind: 3 v SEA, 3 v BAL
Adam Jones: 3 @ BOS, 3 @ TOR
Granderson: 4 v TB, 3 v BOS (7 games, but 2 v. lefties)
@Brad Havens: I’d go with Pavano.
@Bum Juice: Matsui, Jones….
Tulo is at it again!
@vinko: Incredible…
Hes gonna destroy the record.
Tulo is unreal
I know the rules about starting your aces…but Lincecum @ COL next week?
@Black Beard:
I dont want to play anyone against them but yeah I think so.
@VinWins: Thanks man. That shizz is whack… I murdered that guy in the regular season, practically owned the entire league, and he gets the tie-breaker because he was in the JV division?
@Grey: I need to go find that clip, pronto.
@Black Beard: I’d start him.
@Awesomus Maximus: Ha
@Grey: Can’t find the promo, but my wife reminded me that Knight said something like “I’m gonna’ try out those lips one day” regarding Ashley during the finale, so I’m sure it’s just an audience supported stunt kiss… not a relationship or anything.
So nice of Hanley to take the weekend off. I know when I drafted him I wasn’t hoping to have his 5 tools available for the H2H playoffs.
@Awesomus Maximus: Ah… Yeah, your wife’s probably right.
@Grey: Logan, Rasmus or Adam Jones next week?
Castro or Keppinger?
@Fletch: Jones… Castro…
Grey,
Do you see any reason to keep Broxton and his fat ass ERA and WHIP around for next season? 8 Keepers – 12 team league.
I’m thinking of keeping Bucholz, Strasburg, maybe even Quentin over him… Thoughts?
Thanks,
CDogg
How about Adam Jones vs. David Murphy? (Murphy and Logan both have 7 games next week vs. Jones who has 6)
Al. Ram is available in my league, you like him over Castro?
@Cdoggie: I wouldn’t keep, and Strasburg and Quentin aren’t great either.
@Fletch: Alexei over Castro and Murphy…
@Grey: Start Gallardo?
@Grey:
Tulo again reminds you not to be a Doubtin’ Dan.
Don’t you dare kazaam me, Clay Hensley!
@DrEasy: OK, now we’re cool now.
Best championship week ever! http://i55.tinypic.com/smsf39.png
Anyone know why Linc got pulled after 5 and 72 pitches?
What kind of outing can I expect from Pettitte tomorrow? 5IP, 3ER, 1W?
Aviles with another HR. Dude is locked in.
e.y. jr. … your team scored 12 runs .
you didn’t have to steal 4 bases ,
but getting on base a couple of times
would have been nice .
@big o: ****ing A. Even one hit would have been OK.
Grey – Angry of Auckland needs some input in the forums if you’e around. (emoticon)
@Steve:
hey Steve — was that razzball league (the one where you try and get the worst score) any fun , this year ?
that was a roto league , correct ?
was it auction-style ??
i can envision how it would be more fun , in a morbid sense , than regular
roto , but would like to hear your take on it , before i commit for 2011 .
thanking you , in advance .
5×5 roto league. I’m second in HRs (16 behind 1st, 8 ahead of third) and 1st in RBIs (up 20). I have a great chance to make up points in runs and SBs, and a decent chance to climb in avg as well.
Krispy has been a huge hole in my lineup lately. Do I hope that he comes out of his current funk and starts hitting and running, or do I drop him for Swisher, Valencia, Nady or Aviles? I know that none of these guys will steal any bases, but I’m hoping they could provide a boost in avg and runs. Position doesn’t matter.
Thanks!
Does CY throw 6 (good) innings vs CIN in PETCO on Friday? If not, I gotta drop him so I can make some moves this week. Which is a shame cause he could get CHC in PETCO 5 days after.
@tHe sHiT: Sorry, was out.
@Elijah: Hehe
@Tom Emanski: Nice!
@DrEasy: That looks about right re: Pettitte.
@Steve: Going ow, but might be too late for you.
@Earl Battey: Go with Aviles.
@struggler: Maybe 5…
Nice – I just tossed him back for Baker’s start vs CLE on Tuesday
I’m having a hard time losing CQ for Valencia or Mora. I need a Rolen caddy. What do you think?
@struggler: Lose CQ for Valencia.
@Grey:
nick the dead greek’s 4-star “lock” of the day ==> hochevar
you like ??
@big o: It’s okay, not a lock by any means.
Thanks for being there in my time of need.
Member when CQ was on a torrid mid-season tear and the Chi Sox were the best team in baseball? Those were the times. The big fella needs a hug.
@struggler: Ha!
Who would you start need 2 need Hits. 12Team H2H
Rios
Murphy
Matsui
K. Johnson
Betemit
@Dumbmutt: Rios
@Grey:
H2H points league.
Pick two: Price @NYY; Norris @ Was, @ Pit; Gio v. CWS, v. Tex
Pick one: Aramis or Reynolds
@Chris: Price, Norris… Aramis…
So I was on track to pick up some K numbers today and Al Koholic is throwing Myers and Wood.
I picked up Narveson to overtake today, not keep pace. Annoying, though it was nice to see that Steve’s HR took a half point from the Schmohawks.
Damn you, Arizona bullpen!
@BSA: Let me put that another way now that I have calmed down – I picked up Narveson to NOT lay a big steamy pile.
Gah, Kershaw and his first inning issues…
@BSA: Ouch
@DrEasy: Damn
@DrEasy: And other innings.
How can you be leading HRs 12-4 and trailing in RBIs 22-24?
@Steve: 12 homers and 22 RBIs is not easy to pull off.
@Grey: Believe me, I’m not proud of it.
Matt Kemp, so nice of you to join the party. Better late than never, I guess. Oh, sorry, correction… when it’s H2H playoff time, late is, in fact, not better than never. I will now bed your girlfriend as payback.
Well, if Coke doesn’t get a Save, that’s my H2H season down the drain.
@Steve: I can imagine.
@Awesomus Maximus: Ha
@Steve: Damn
@Steve: A game-winning grand slam from Ethier would help.
Can’t believe I’ve gone .217, .235, .172 and .158 over the last four days.
@Steve: Might be slightly more plausible than Coke getting a save.
@Grey: Wagner not getting the save was the real killer.
@Steve: A dozen homers and 22 RBis seems like it might’ve had a hand in it too.
Norris@WAS
Holland@LAA
Porcello v. KC
Floyd@OAK
Pick 1. It’s H2H championship week and I’m afraid to start someone who will ruin my WHIP and ERA for the week. I don’t have to start any of them. Right now I think I’m leaning towards Gavin…
@Grey: Thanks for the reminder.
C’mon – need Ethier at the plate with men on…
@second: I’d sit all of them if I could.
@Steve: Sorry
@Grey: Apologies for my less-than-humourous disposition.
@Steve: Nooooo! Needed Kemp on base, not to drive one in!
Even when he does something right, he does it wrong!
@Steve: Ouch… They IBB’d him.
@Steve: You’re kidding me.
Could Bentancourt get a Hold here? I will tie it at 5-5! Can’t believe Mo blew my championship win.
@Steve: At least you didn’t need one save and own Street. Would’ve been doubly bad.
@Dumbmutt: If he entered in a Save situation and didn’t give up the lead, it’s a Hold.
@Dumbmutt: Could get a Hold.
@Grey: @Dumbmutt: Even if the Rockies lose, it’s a Hold.
@Steve: You’re right, I shouldn’t have said could… Will.
You could argue that having Gibbons – Gibbons! – hit cleanup has really bitten them in the ass there.
Maybe Ethier will get another shot…
@Steve: Gibbons hitting anywhere in a lineup is cause for concern.
@Grey: Gibbons should only be found in the primates enclosure at the zoo.
@Steve: Exactly… Or Jane Goodall’s photo album.
I’d give up a Kuo win here in exchange for Ethier getting to hit again.
@Grey: “Oh man, what did they have to pitch to me for?”
http://www.zooschool.ecsd.net/white%20handed%20gibbon.jpg
Two RBI from Ethier and this thing is mine. It’s too late for him to get Raburn into his lineup.
Hmmm – shouldn’t have dropped Raburn…
Come on Kemp – get aboard!
@Steve: Here it is…
@Steve: Damn…Another IBB.
@Steve: Oh yeah…
@Grey: FFS.
Won my main league. Owe it to you Grey. Cant thank you enough for the time you put in.
Jesus.
It’s up to you now, Coke. Come on Tigers!
@Steve: I’m pulling for you, but you’ll need a miracle.
@Steve: FFS?
This time of year, as in the beginning I keep telling myself that hits come in bunches and baseball is a game of averages. How bad does it suck when you pull the trigger and drop someone only to have them light up in FA or on someone else’s team.
ERA in the RCL is soo close one bad inning is causing point gain/loss, runs, HRs, Ks, and Wins are all within ten. Now those bad nights really screw ya.
@BSA: For ****’s sake.
@Grey: Yup. Pretty hard to take.
@Grey: Bonderman being Bonderman not really helping.
@Steve: Ooooh Fart! Got it. Excatly what my team is doing this weekend.
These Tigers are crap. They’re never going to win this game.
(Gotta try everything…)
@Steve: Yup
@Steve: Ha
Tigers aren’t even good enough to get to that crappy Sox pen.
@Steve: Oooohhh!
@Steve: Holy shit. Could it be?
Crikey.
@Grey: Betemit or Valencia for the short day tomorrow?
The answer to this might actually matter…
Easy now, Tigers.
You’ve got to be kidding me. You have got to be kidding me.
Come on White Sox. Just a run or two will do.
@Steve: Only need a few more runs.
@Steve: Betemit
@Grey: Something tells me this just wasn’t meant to be.
@Steve: Heart of the Sox order due up at bottom of 8th, though.
Yes we can!
@Steve: Ha!
@Grey: Not getting much work done today.
@Steve: You’re up to your last out.
@Steve: C’mon, Konerko!
@Steve: Wasn’t meant to be. Sorry…
Jesus. Not a single shred of luck today.
@Steve: Too bad, after two bullpens gave up two much-needed wins (Dan Hudson and Pettitte) for me, I was rooting for you so I could get over my own disappointment. At least it was exciting, I guess.
Someone needs to tell Coke that while it’s nic ehe’s trying to help Steve, he can’t create a save situation for himself.
Someone needs to tell Coke that while it’s nice he’s trying to help Steve, he can’t create a save situation for himself.
Oh yes. That just tops it off nicely.
At least it all went down the drain before that.
@Grey: Made it to the finals (in spite of rostering Jete and Panda)
What do you think, Drop Panda and Bonofacio for any combo of Lizard King Morrison and Mike Aviles, Betemit (love the Pearl Jam joke there by the way), Kalish, McClouth?
I leaning towards dumping those two for Lizard King and Aviles.
@3FingersBrown: Gah I’m too drunk from off of the celebratory champagne… That would leave me without a 3B. Need to keep either Panda or Bonofacio, or grab a Chris Johnson and either one of the above.
Just a pity I wasn’t tied in Holds. Coke would have just won it for me.
@DrEasy: Ha
@Steve: Yeah, he didn’t look good at all.
@3FingersBrown: I’d lose Panda for Morrison.
@Grey:I’ve got plenty of speed with a healthy Gardner, Figgy & Pagan. Think I should dump Bonafacio for Betemit, Johnson or Valencia?
What a nailbiter. I am tied (I will win tiebreaker) and if Pierre/Konerko combined get 2 hits in extra I will cry. I do have Rios in though.
justice for pierzynski
Norris or Porcello for tomorrow? Opponent has Duensing and Greinke…I’ve got Hamels and one of the two if I want them. Start of the two week H2H finals tomorrow…
@Grey: Dumped Panda for Lizard King. Forgot I have McGehee who can play 3rd. Leaning towards dumping Bono-fast-yo for Aviles. I’m not streaming this week (our finals last two weeks) so that’ll leave me with 2 moves left for next week.
@Wilsonian: Porcello
@3FingersBrown: Go with Aviles.
clowney me once ,
shame on you .
clowney me twice ,
shame on me .
@Grey: thanks man, that’s the way I went. I really wanted to go with Norris and Porcello but couldn’t fit them both in (went with Ibanez on the short day)…
@big o: With regard to your question from earlier about Fantasy Razzball – it is indeed good fun. You should definitely give it a go.
Have to admit I kind of forgot about it during the middle of the season and I had a bit of trouble with the whole weekly league thing. I could never quite get the hang of when I had to have my changes done – what with the time difference and all.
Much pleasure to be had, though, from unearthing the truly ‘Razz-valuable’ performers. You’d be surprised how often they turn out to be perfectly serviceable real-life players.
@Grey: Aviles is blazing, Lizard King too. I think we have a good shot to be the first repeat champ in this league to date… 1500 clams would be nice too of course.
You’ve helped me get this far buddy. Lets do this!
@Wilsonian: Cool
@3FingersBrown: Nice, hopefully we can pull it out.
