The Razzball Baseball Pod is back!  Returning from our winter doldrums, we’re ready to talk trades and signings thus far in the hot stove.  Still some big pieces still left to fall!  It’s great to be back with Grey who is continually turning more and more into the crazy Jersey grandpa he is, and on today’s show we recap the Chris Sale and Adam Eaton trades, Ian Desmond going to Coors, and like, 30 or 40 other trades and signings.  Gotta be sure to derail this to get to all my Brewers talk!  We’re going to pick up the Pods again in January, so have a happy new year, shop around for some winter trading in your dynasties, and get ready for more Grey-crazy in 2017!

Casey Magahee. Hit 30 homers in Japan, came back and hit 4.

@Fungazi: Ehhhh. He had become a pretty crappy player and was much older pre/post Japan. I was thinking more of a prospect that came up through the US Minors, played there for his first main professional action, then came back. I dunno if there are any examples…

@JB Gilpin: Cecil Fielder is kind of one of those guys. He did reach his limits with the Blue Jays, hit over there and then came back and mashed.

@Fungazi: @Ralph Lifshitz: Aha! Forgot about the Japan thing for Cecil. Hopefully Thames has the same career path for us haha

@JB Gilpin: He was much older? Isn’t Thames 30 and Magahee was 31ish?

@Fungazi: My point was more Thames was 27 when he went over there, with little MLB experience. McGehee was 30 when he went over, with like 600 games and nearly 2000 ABs. I will note I thought Thames went over a little younger

@JB Gilpin: I see what you mean. It seems like Thames never got more than a couple months at a time to prove himself in the Blue Jays system. Hope he does well for you.

JB! Very pumped for Rise of the 2017 Podcasts.

What do you think of this news about Harvey feeling fine now and being good to go for spring? I’ve never had an interest in targeting him, but I wonder if he may be super undervalued this year…

@Duda Want to Build a Snowman?: Thanks man, pumped to be back! From what I’ve seen on some early mocks, it seems like there is no “undervaluing” going on. He’s still going fairly high

@JB Gilpin: boooo. maybe it’ll be different for lesser guys like Garrett Richards, Ryu and [to a lesser extent] Homer Christian Baley. Would love to grab those allegedly now totally healthy guys at the end of a 12 teamer in reserve rounds or something like that.

@Duda Want to Build a Snowman?: Booo indeed, I was hoping to get him some places too once I saw some velo/stuff in spring training. Richards could be really interesting as a value. I always thought Ryu was a little overvalued, and his shoulder still scares the bejesus out of me. Bailey I bet will go undrafted, i dunno if I’d get him in 12ers

@JB Gilpin: haha … figured you would have wanted a “Long Neck Winker” one too, considering you coined it!

Holy crap! I would so love to got to a Spring Training game with you guys. But why are you going so early?!? You gotta book that in mid to late March for the best games. Trust me, I’ve been about 15 times. Best players don’t really play much in the beginning of ST or the last few games at the end of the month.

    • JB Gilpin

@Good4You: Well maybe you can come out early this time! Yeah i wanted like mid-month, but because of how many drafts these guys do and have to travel for, middle to end of March is tough to schedule. I just have to hit record on a podcast, I don’t have to fly to NY for Tout and stuff haha
