I’m using Napoli, holding Montero on DL. When Montero comes off, which of the two would you keep?

So far this season I’ve made two trades in an 8 Team H2H League (Bartlett/Buccholz for Cargo; AJ/Span for Wright – me dealing two for one each time and finding a guy that was fed up with Wright at the time and just wanted a change), and two in a 16 Team H2H League (Frank Cord and Ike for Lind and JJ/Carp/C. Lewis/Cantu for Cain/Bills/Capps/Wright – I got the Lind and Wright sides). So it isn’t like I’m running away with the better deals, but I tend to make sure that I’m getting something I really want or need before I do too much movement, especially if my team is pretty solid at the time. I’m currently in 1st in the 8 Teamer and 2nd in the 16 Teamer.

I tend not to write anything anymore and just send the deal, usually decently fair (probably lean it a little on my side). Or I just write “how is this for a starting point for a discussion?”. It depends who you’re working with, but I find the actual players involved matter much less than how you communicate the offer. The better the league the more honest you have to be about what your goal is – trading has to become mutually beneficial or it will rarely work.

Thanks for the advice guys. I sent out a feeler email saying that my OF, besides Kemp, was available (I would deal Cruz for Votto being that I’m about fed up with DLing him). Used the Cargo/Rasmus would round out your OF with Hammy and Bruce, line. Also said I would throw in Glaus if he wanted him too, but I know he’s injury prone, but he’s definitely mashing right now.

I’m sure I’ll be keeping you guys posted. I know you’re on pins and needles! Ha!

a lot of it is just emailing the guy and kinda passively suggesting guys he might be interested in so see where he stands on the guys you are interested in dealing. like if he adamantly thinks glaus is gonna fall off or get hurt again, don’t try to shoe horn glaus into a deal anyway.

@Wilsonian: I’d try Glaus and Rasmus for Votto. Then try CarGo and Glaus.

Who do i use at third? Freese, kouzmanoff, blake, chipper, or walker?

Or is it worth it to try and trade up a bit for a guy like beltre, sandoval or young?

Punting steals, so i’m looking for any other hitting stats

My pitching staff includes: Garza, Cain, Pelfrey, Jonathan Sanchez, Jaime G, Kershaw, Chapman, and Happ on the DL. (as you can tell, I stock up on pitching vs having a bunch of hitters on my bench)

I’m leading in most pitching categories, but my hitting has been atrocious.

My OF consists of Pence, Lind, Soriano, Swisher, and Cruz.

Do you like the trade?

By the way, the guy in first place (1 game ahead of me) in my league got suckered in and traded Cliff Lee straight for Bautista. Nice.
