@Grey: I agree with Hippo. I'm fairly internet savvy, and I had no idea that was a search box at the top of the page, I always used the one in the footer. What about the Orioles signing Zaun? Does that change your opinion regarding Weiters? Baltimore Sun

@big o: That was the rumor on Longoria back in January of 2008 too. Until there's confirmation on that, you have to draft Wieters like he's going to play with upside to be a top 5 backstop.

@John: I think I confused his BBs with someone else. You're totally right. He doesn't take walks. He does hit line drives though, which helps with his average. EDIT: I updated the post. Thanks!

I agree that Sandoval is a bit of a sleeper if he’s available at catcher. However, I don’t know how you can say that, “He’s shown the ability to take a walk…”

He looks to me to possess poor plate discipline. He took quite a few walks in high A ball, but otherwise he’s been BB-averse. After walking only four times in 154 PA last year with the Giants, I can’t imagine he’ll do much better this year.

Can you believe Bill James projects him as a .320 hitter for ’09? People say he projects young players aggressively, but yikes!

@Steve: I do right now. Wieters is either going to become overhyped with his spring performance or he's going to sink like a rock. Sandoval, surprisingly, should be buoyant. The Giants have already said he's there 3rd baseman for 2009.
