@Zebo: Borowski will take over immediately. Whether he can stay closer/healthy is another question.

By all means, if you have other people to trade with Sherrill go for it, try and go a different way than Lee.

@SaltyBiscuits: Who are your other closers? You’re right to want to move Sherrill, who may get traded his own self in real life and lose the closing job.

But as long as he’s closing, he’s not necessarily a sell high candidate. And if you can get a real pitcher — Zambo, even Hudson, IMO — for your third best closer, rather than Lee for your 5th best, I’d pursue that. Or package Sherrill with a medium player for a position-player upgrade.

Lee has been golden for whoever owns him now, but as an acquisition, he’s double-trouble: a) bound to drop off, and b) almost valueless once he does, since everyone and their concubine is expecting it to happen. At least Zambo and Timmy have name-recognition going for them, if you need to flip them later.

Also: If someone needs saves, don’t be afraid to squeeze their sack a bit. (In a totally intimidating, non-affectionate way.) You have what they want, and they can’t git it nowhere else.

But I was thinking it could be interesting if I plug him in as a long reliever. He could rack up points by pitching more innings per appearance and vulture some wins. Beats throwing Brian Fuentes and Ryan Franklin out there doesn’t it?

Haha you’re telling me… My pitchers line up right now as: Peavy, Maine, Wainwright, Wolf, Pedro, Kuroda, Contreras, Kershaw, Valverde, Capps, Sherrill, Fuentes, Borowski.

I don’t exactly need Cliff, Weaver or Saunders, but I figure the SP depth can’t hurt since I have many closer options.

Yeah Cliff isn’t a target at all… I just HAVE to move one of my closers (I have 5 now) and there’s only one owner in our league looking for closers right now. So, unfortunately, I have to deal with his roster.

For pitchers, he has Zambrano, Hudson, Cliff, Saunders, Weaver, Bartolo, Padilla and Smoltz.

I tried Hudson for Sherrill but he didn’t bite.

re: Indy – I did my best to compartmentalize the crap parts and enjoy the classic Indy segments. I’d say its 80% enjoyable and 20% repression. Did you catch the rather appropriate Lucasfilm in-joke during the climax? I think I was the only one in the theater that caught it. Its lonely being a geek.

Barring injury to a D-Back pitcher, he’s headed for long relief or the minors. He can be usable in long relief.

@bill: I like Jurrjens, Hudson, Lidge and Saito a lot, but the second staff is deeper on starters.

Also… do I consider dropping Fuentes for Chris Perez? Rockies are bad and Fuentes isn’t pitching that well, I already have Valverde and Capps as stability. Do I go with the potnetial upside of Perez?
