My guess is that if you traded away a 1st round pick to a manager, you’ll take his 3rd round pick. So that way, if the exchange is between you and me, I have TWO third round picks and you have TWO first round picks. That way we still have the same amount of draft picks at the end of the draft and all the rounds are still even. Though I’m still very vague on how much a 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc round pick is worth when compared to other picks. I don’t even think I’ll introduce trading picks in my league because it’s going to get seriously complicated.

Correct. That came from Grey himself, and it makes sense because if there’s no inflation once a player hits first round, then you’d always draft him there without penalty and it wouldn’t give a chance to any other manager if they want to draft him. Giving up your 2nd round pick as well as 1st round is a way to level out the playing field. Plus, it keeps you on your toes and makes you want to draft keepers for the following year already.

I’m planning to do my first year of keepers in Yahoo. I’ve emailed Yahoo several times (great response team btw) and they pretty much said the commish has the power (only before the draft) to customize keepers and assign certain players to certain rounds to their respective managers. I’m just wondering if Yahoo allows it so that I can assign 11 picks in a round when there are 12 managers.

@big o: Not exactly sure what that means but since I own F-Her I’m worried.

What league allows you to skip picks in the draft (if you’re using something like Yahoo! or ESPN)?

One conclusion we came to was that if a manager wanted to keep a 1st round draft pick two years in a row, the second year he’d have to give up his 2nd round pick too. I’d still have to compensate for him in the later rounds of the draft somehow. What round is ideal to give him two picks? Last round? In addition, do I then have to award two picks to a manager in the 2nd round? Or will it be only 11 picks?

Sorry for such an annoying detailed question, but I rather get all this right then start changing my word come March.

I’m gonna see if I can get Braun without giving up Hanley. The owner has a pretty poor selection of other keepers, so I’m gonna see if some combination of Cliff Lee, Josh Johnson, Gordon Beckham and Jered Weaver might work.
