I’m glad they didn’t do it, Holliday’s a free agent after 09 anyway.

Before spring training, Price will go around 140 in drafts. People will be speculating that he will definitely have a starting spot. Then once spring training starts and the Rays management says he’s in the rotation, he’ll go up to 100-120 range. If they say he’s starting the year in middle relief, he will drop to the 200 range. If the Rays weigh their statements with something like, “He’ll be in the rotation by May,” then he’ll go a bit higher than 200.

In savvier 12 team leagues, Victorino will be off the board sometime in the 5th or 6th rounds. Uggla will not last into the 5th rounds of most drafts of 12 team leagues (60th+ pick?). Personally, I didn’t even really like the Uggla (mock) pick of mine, but I felt if Holliday is (really) traded and doesn’t hit 30 HRs (which he might not even do in Coors), I needed power from a 2nd basemen. This team would struggle badly on average. That’s why I (mock) took Span and Butler, which I didn’t mention above. I could’ve prolly wrote about this draft for another 12,000 words, that’s how much I enjoy drafting.

Re: Kila Ka’aihue, Matt LaPorta, Felix Pie — Only Pie will be drafted before spring training in non-keeper leagues. The other two need to figure out roles.

re: Price — He’ll be drafted like a third or fourth starter before spring training then his role will be clarified and he’ll go earlier or later.

Vazquez may be underrated again in 09. He seems to flip-flop every year on how well he’s evaluated.

Javy Vazquez in the (mock) 17th? Looks like he’ll be a member of like all my teams next year.

I’m curious to see what happens to the value of guys like Jacobs, CC, and sleepers like Kila Ka’aihue, Matt LaPorta, Felix Pie, David Price, etc.

Do you have a list of the complete (mock) picks? I didn’t see them in your embeded links. Now that the baseball season and the election is over, I have more (mock) time at work to fart around with fantasy baseball. I need to fill my life with something else, and the (mock) Kaballah wasn’t quite working out for me spiritually. My (mock) soul needs (mock) ADP.

With all of that said, BJ should prolly go somewhere in the late 2nd round. He can steal 30 bases without trying and he can hit 15 to 20 home runs if he gets in the proper groove and his shoulder is healed by next year.

I like the idea of a retroactive league. Then if you draft Cliff Lee in 09 and he sucks, you still get a 3.50 ERA.

This all but confirms my sad suspicion that his post-season power binge removed all chance he’d be undervalued for next year. Do you see him as a typical first-rounder in ’09? Do you also expect him to get back to 20+ dingers?

If he hits 30 in ’09, I think I should retroactively get credit for 10 in ’08, just for suffering through him all year.
