Lemonade was a popular drink and it still is, the Rangers could only get one hit against Willis. That’s right, Dwyck. Dontrelle Willis went six and one-third, allowing only three baserunners and K’ing five. The Rangers came into the game hitting lefties extremely well (.291) with Kinsler at .460 and Michael Young at .372. So let’s all get jazzamatazzed, right? Well, I don’t hold the same excitement. His story definitely has the Lubitsch touch, but his last start was four earned in four and two-thirds against the Twins. Dontrelle’s opponents will be tough, his recent history has been extremely poor and a 5/4 K/BB is poor. There’s got to be at least a half dozen guys better on your waivers to take a chance on. Let someone else buy a ticket for the D-Train. Anyway, here’s what else I saw yesterday in fantasy baseball:
James Shields – 8 1/3 IP, 0 ER, zero run support. If only they batted Sonnanstine third…
Josh Outman – 6 IP, 4 baserunners, 0 ER, 6 Ks. His Ks are solid, but he walks too many guys and right now he’s getting a bit lucky with how many guys he’s leaving on base. Then throw in the fact that he pitches for the A’s and their A’nemic offense. Outman shouldn’t be in, man, outside of AL-Only leagues.
Shairon Martis – 6 IP, 5 ER. Yeah, should’ve known better than to trust a Nats pitcher. I’d love to say stick with him, but I don’t trust him enough; his walks are too ugly. He may be 5-0 on the year, but he could be 5-5 by July.
Elijah Dukes – To the DL with a strained hamstring. So far the Bowden Fluffers have appropriately sucked.
Orlando Hudson – Day-to-day with a bruised shoulder. Isn’t that Osso Bucco? Or is that braised?
J.A. Happ – I know a J.T. Hagman was a J.R. The Braves have a G.A. But J.A.? Those initials don’t go together. They’re like N.G. He’s replacing Chan No in the rotation and I like him in 12 team or deeper for match-ups. This Saturday against the Yanks isn’t a great one though.
Gerardo Parra – 2-for-4 and hitting well since call-up. Sometimes guys just breakout for no good reason. Parra’s got room to play if he’s hot. Could be what Fowler looked like in April.
Stephen Drew – 0-for-3, batting .203 on the seaosn. It sure would be nice if he turned it on because the ‘Backs desperately want to believe in him as they bat him second, third and fourth on most nights.
Matt Palmer – 5 IP, 5 ER as he went to 5-0. Matt Palmer? Seriously? Who’s he, a soap opera actor?
Josh Johnson – 6 1/3 IP, 2 ER. Surreal how poorly my Win Karma is this year. Johnson was bested by Jon Garland, who has more Wins on the season than him too. Do I need to do some Angel Heart voodoo shizz? A Jobu doll? Matt Palmer? Please, send me a signal. Throw me a line.
Kelly Johnson – 3-for-4 with a steal as he batted in the six hole. A) Johnson’s a streaky hitter. B) He claims to prefer hitting lower in the order. C) There’s no C.
Ian Stewart – 0-for-4 with three Ks. It helps that Atkins has been dreadful, but Stewart needs to make it count.
Nolan Reimold – 1-for-3 and batting an empty .250. Same dealio as Stewart. He has the chance, but he needs to do something with it.
Adam Jones – When the Orioles emerged from their clubhouse, there was a huge cloud of smoke as Jones returned to the lineup.
Joe Mauer – 7th homer of the year. Obviously, he’s a cyborg. Or stole Soto’s soul.
Pedro Feliz – 9 for his last 18. Currently on one of those Happy streaks.
Johnny Cueto – 7 IP, 4 ER. Not his best start of the year. The glass half-filled with Cueto Kool-Aid points out he didn’t walk anyone. Glass half-empty, he gave up two homers.
Colby Rasmus – Has hit two homers in two nights, three homers in the last five games and he had one homer rained out the other day. Now if he can string together more than one hit in a game, we’ll be all set.
Rick Ankiel – Set to return. If he’s on waivers anywhere because of an impatient owner, he’s worth a pickup. Remember Ankiel wasn’t exactly lighting the world on fire when he was playing, so don’t get overzealous with who you drop.
Scott Baker – 5 IP, 4 ER. And this came against the White Sox who have been scuffling for runs. I think he’s headed back to the Disgraceful List.
Felix Hernandez – F-Her in the Big A and it didn’t work out well as he allowed 6 runs in 5 and two-thirds.
Barry Zito – 8 IP, 2 ER. I admit it, I started him last night. And I will again in his next start against the M’s. From there, I’ll reevaluate.
Scott Hairston – HR yesterday as he went 2-for-2 and batted third. I almost picked him up on Monday, but I was banking on a lot of steals against Chris Young and played speed heavy. (I came out with Nadir Bupkis.)
Bill Hall – H.A. double hockey sticks started at 3rd and went 1-for-4 with two Ks as Gamel combed his hair on the bench.
Kerry Wood – 4 earned runs as he blew… the save. If there was anyone in the Indians bullpen worth owning, I’d say grab him, but alas there’s not.
Brian Bannister – 6 IP, 5 ER. There’s the Bannister we know and don’t love.
Casey Blake – Hit his ninth homer yesterday and is batting .283 with 26 RBIs. He’s out-hitting a lot of cornermen right now.
Noah Lowry – Scheduled to undergo surgery this week to have a rib removed from his left side. I know I’m not ordering the prime rib at Lawry’s any time soon. Also, if I was Joe Nathan, I’d be very careful.

man i’m having bad luck with all those injuries as of late. Soria, Ankiel, Gordon, now Dukes. At least Ankiel is back now. anyway, start cecil tonight @ Boston ?
@Mowses: no on cecil.
and speaking on injuries…aroid (keeper), bj (keeper), doumit, flores, dukes, hamilton, zambrano, francisco, weeks. yet somehow i am only a 1/2 game out of first right now. hell, that’s with rollins being essentially a black hole until the last week or so too.
I’ll always giggle at “F-Her in the Big A.”
Threw Shields and Jurjjens last night, MONEY.
Benched Bruce vs. Lefty Hamels, of course he Homers. Sonovabench. At least he K’d the 3 other times. I watched a few of the AB’s, wow does he look lost. He’s not touching anything offspeed away: EVER.
Big Papi was dropped. I had a waiver priority of 12 trying to snag him up dropping Francouer. The #1 priority went after him so i lost out and I couldn’t drop frenchy for garrado parra either…. dammit!
whats the outlook on parra? All i saw on baseball tonight was bloop singles.
And after I offered multiple deals to trade Holliday for a mid-level Of’er and a closer the D-Bag i offered a few deals to offers me Vernon Wells/Kerry Wood for Holliday and Choo?
NOTE TO ALL: DONT WAIT TIL A HITTER GOES ON A TEAR THEN TRY AND TRADE VERNON WELLS AND KERRY WOOD FOR THEM, ESPECIALLY AFTER WOOD GETS TORCHED FOR 3 RUNS AND BLOWS A GAME?
GOTTA LOVE THE DONKEYS, HE GOT A NICE REJECTION MESSAGE….
@Grey: O.K., since we’re bonding during this group session, I’ll admit it too…I also started Zito last night. There, I said it. & feel better already.
Count my blessings and drop him now to activate Carpenter? Or wait & see with Carp on a pitch count & have myself one more Zito this weekend?
grey how worried are you about votto?…and would you start meche tonight against the indians?
Concerning Noah, there was a rumor back 7-8 years ago that Marilyn Manson got a rib removed so he could perform oral on himself. How do I know this, Manson is from my hometown and things spread quickly about him back in the day.
Officially keeping Cecil on the bench today @ Fenway.
I wanted to both kill and kiss Andrew Bailey last night, all in the span of about 6 minutes. The kill part came when he gave up 2 hits and a walk to load them up with 0 outs… the kiss part came when he k’ed Longoria, Pena, and Bartlett all in a row to get out of it unscathed.
I can’t help to think if Shields had Zobrist in the lineup last night, he would have gotten some sort of support from him to enable a win. Hey, I love Zobrist, so what.
I’m really glad I don’t have Sports Time Ohio, the channel that broadcasts my Indians’ games in Northeast Ohio, especially after that shitfest game last night. Wedge removes Sizemore out of the leadoff spot to, wait for it…. the 2-hole, yeah that makes a world of difference Eric. How about – - – be fucking normal and move him down to 5 or 6? To quote Jerry Seinfeld talking about Kenny Banya, “Wedge should be setting pins at a bowling alley.”
I see that when I talk shit about Alexei, he comes through with an RBI Double. Well guess what, that was only hit you got yesterday so I’m gonna keep saying you suck (disclaimer: he is in my lineup tonight @ utl vs Liriano – don’t tell him).
Today’s minor league clubhouse entry:
We had Salt Lake in for 4 games last May… very good team last year and very good players as basically they were the Angels “b” team with Brandon Wood, Morales, Sean Rodriguez, etc…
The interesting story comes from one of my favorites, Jose Arredondo. He found me right away when he arrived and in broken english conveyed to me he needed copenhagen, but not just one can, he wanted the “log”. For those of you who don’t know the “log”, it’s about 8-10 cans all wrapped up and looks like a thin log, it usually runs about 38-39 bucks at a gas station. Jose handed me a hundy and said “log” copenhagen por favor.
I came back with a little under 60 dollars in change, keep it papi. The next day, the same thing, “log”, gives me another hundy, keep the change. Game 3, “log”, gives me a hundy, keep the change. Game 4, final game, “log” papi, gives me a hundy, keep the change. Most would say he had a problem, even an addiction, I’m just gonna say he liked copenhagen.
Enjoy.
@Tony B.: LOL
love the seinfeld ref….
Its sad watching the tribe isn’t it!? Frustrating as hell. What happened to the bullpen? We’re 2 years removed from pretty much the best bullpen in the majors? ANDDDD we got rid of the worst part of it, BOROWSKI! I dont get it.
OH WELL, GO CAVS.
keep talking the alexie smack, i’ve inserted him too, its time….
@Tony B.: god dude those are great stories LOL. How the hell was he going thru a log of cope a day!? I pray he was passing some out or something? Thats sick.
My Beckett for his Ryan Howard?
@Tony: I’d rather watch the Nationals than the Tribe right now. I’m really hoping he was sharing the wealth in the bullpen during the game, if not, that is some hardcore usage for a 21-22 yr old.
@JPH: How’s your pitching look without Beckett and how is your team “power” currently?
Risk starting Kazmir against Oakland?
Kazmir’s starting to scare me… he keeps saying he’s worked things out with his pitches, but never seems to get outs.
@JPH: i dont know if it matters… if thats offered to you TAKE IT.
You aren’t going to get anything better for Beckett ever. And I am sure you can flip HOWARD for a better pitcher later if you want…
EASY ACCEPT TO ME
@Nick0rz: If you’re not starting Kazmir against Oakland, you should never be starting him. Play him and hope he keeps the walks under 4.
which side: Holliday for Mauer and Randy Wolfmother?
@Wizo: Holliday
I like Mauer this year, but Holliday is finding it and should get traded to a contender. I think there’s always a good risk of Mauer getting injured too. Wolf to me is irrelevant in the deal.
So my question as a relatively new reader of the site is….does Kerry Wood have a face? Because he certainly can’t get any effing saves.
In Cleveland Jensen Lewis is the man to own if Wood Falters or is hurt. SAGNOF!
@Wizo: Like I mentioned earlier, people are gonna start asking for Holliday now. Screw em’. If you’re dealing him now, they can pay….
@Wizo: I like the Mauer side, depending on your catcher. Holliday has been mediocre AT BEST for his ENTIRE career outside of Colorado. I don’t expect a turnaround. Maybe Morales numbers with 10 steals. Also, I don’t understand the Joe Nathan reference. Please help.
@Scott: But, you can get more than Wolf.
12 Team, 5 x 5 Keeper League……… Would you trade Lincecum and Peralta for Zimmerman and Tejada? I’m thinking no……..
@JPH: uh, yes please may i have another
@Euroalien: you’re thinking right
@Euroalien: I’d go so far as to stab the owner for suggesting it.
Quick SAGNOF question, who would be in line for saves if Latroy Hawkins ends up hitting the DL in Houston?
@Scott: Holliday has BEEN mediocre but has cranked it up lately. He’s starting to settle in somewhat… I read or heard he was working with Mark McGuire (don’t know why, what was mark showing him where to shoot the roids?) and he was being coached to hit for more power? He’s going back to being the hitter he is A LINE DRIVE GAP HITTER.
@Wizo: I just worry about Mauer. You’d be taking on a guy who’s had knee and back issues. He’s a beast athelete and a healthy year could be great. I just think you’re selling a 3rd round talent for a 6-7th round talent. Again wolfy isn’t relevant, so you’re also going to have to drop someone…..
Nice, Yahoo has a player note for Elijah Dukes announcing he’s been placed on the DL…..but they can’t be bothered to actually change his status to “DL”.
Which begs the question….I’ve got Alex Gordon using up my DL spot right now. Drop Dukes outright, drop Gordon and put Dukes in the DL spot, or just hold steady with Gordon on the DL and Dukes on the bench?
thanks guys
Thinking of dropping an RP to pick up Ankiel for OF depth.
Have Broxton and Qualls. Who should I drop between Rodney, Bailey, or Aardsma, or should I stay put. Current OF are Jacoby, El Caballo, and Braun with no bench.
@Tony: Outside of Coors for his career (including ’09) 374 games, 1346 AB, 402 H, .299 AVG, 49 HR, 202 RBI. At Coors: 359 games, 1350 AB, 483 H, .358 AVG, 84 HR, 307 RBI. On a 162-game schedule for a season outside of Coors, he has averaged 21 HR and 87 RBI. No thanks.
@nathaniel_g:
trade two of them for one solid closer. Has to be a guy in your league who has one solid guy and a black hole for RP #2.
@nathaniel_g:
and by “trade two of them” I mean two of the three drop candidates, (Aardsma, Bailey, Rodney)
Wells or Ankiel the rest of the way?
is this a legit trade in a keeper (rotisserie) league? i need pitching and saves:
Ethier for Nolasco and Fuentes.
Ethier has been riding the pine since Manny left. I know Nolasco has been fairly unlucky and Fuentes just sucks, but he provides S points. Plus, once Nolasco does start mowing batters down, I can keep him for a couple of years.
I choose Bush over Zito for spot start duty and will be picking up BZ for his next one. Who doesn’t like rolling’ the dice?
@Scott: I’ve seen all his road stats. I’m saying he’s worth more than Mauer, who i’d be worried about since he’s averaged missing 30 games per year the past 4 years? And i’m looking at the idea of Holliday getting traded midseason to a “GOOD TEAM”, which I think will boost his value.
I play H2H as well, so having Holliday down the road on a good team is more important to me.
Who knows he could just sit and rot in oakland this year.
@Scott: @Tony: Has anyone done a comprehensive study of ex-Rockies batting lines the year after they leave Coors? Because I have seen people present several arguments. One, that a full year away from Coors will be better than the road splits x2, because playing half the year in Coors messes with your swing and it’s harder to adjust on the road. Two, that a full year away from Coors will be worse than the road splits (for whatever reason). Or three, that a full year away from Coors will be basically equivalent to the road splits x2.
So far, it seems like Holliday is falling under #2, but I think it’s the hardest case to understand. Jury’s still out, of course, being only May, and we have to take into consideration him being a year older, in a worse lineup, and in a pitcher’s park (not just a conglomerate of “road parks”).
@mgeoffriau: yeah it doesn’t help his supporting cast is a bunch of triple AAA jokers. Makes it kinda easy to pitch around him. The foul territory hurts too. He’s gonna regress, thats a known fact, but i wouldn’t sell him low.
I’m just hoping Billy Beanface realizes he’s an idiot for even signing Holliday and moves him. He’s not filling seats, the team isn’t going to do anything this year, sell him to someone who can use him for whatever you can get…. He’s leaving next year anyways.
@ Grey: Love the Gang Starr and Guru refs B! And you even worked in a little Angel Heart for good measure….nice. I’m not really into chicken’s feet or blood, but if Lisa Bonet’s tatas are involved I’m down. Anyway, as far as baseball is concerned, I did a little (very little) digging on Ian Stewart cause he’s available in my league. According to splits from last year and this year, the dude seems to hit lefties way better than righties. He’s a left-handed hitter who hit 90 points higher against lefties last year and he’s about 75 points higher this year. Since he’s gonna face way more righties than lefties, I passed him by.
What about this Wandy/Upton or Hamilton/Lidge ( I would be getting this side). I am trying to swap in Slowey for Wandy but not sure I can do that.
@I’m Keith Hernandez: Don’t like Lidge this year and Hamilton still hasn’t played a full season and won’t this year. Seems risky.
@Tom: Hehe
@Tony: Parra’s a 10/25 guy ideally.
@zombie: Take the Zito weekend.
@mikey boy324: Start Meche. Don’t know on Votto. Hopefully he’s fine.
@Tony B.: There’s a few games this year where he’s looked like he’s dropping logs.
@Mann of Sandd: Ha! He doesn’t have a face.
@anon: Sampson’s received the one save while Hawkins is out, so I’d have to think he’d be a part of the pitcure for saves.
@mgeoffriau: Hard to know without knowing how deep your league is, but I’d say drop Gordon outright and DL Dukes.
@Mr. Rickey: Wells
@zorob: It’s fair, but I’d want more for Ethier.
@mc serch: I do for you.
You starting Kaz against Oak? He seriously has blown all year…
@mgeoffriau: They fixed it.
@ Grey: I just slid Dukes to the DL. Winn, Matsui, Josh Anderson or G Parra?
Should I wait on dealing Beckett for Votto or attempt it now that Votto looks a little questionable? (he might be more likely to do the deal now than later when Votto starts playing again)
Trade question. Which side do you like?
Rich Harden & Adam LaRoche FOR Dan Haren & E. Bonifacio
16-team H2H-Points league…I have Gamel to replace LaRoche at MI/CI, and I need help at 2B.
or would this be better?
Harden, LaRoche & Branyan FOR Haren & Orlando Hudson
@Mike: I’d be careful assuming Gamel stays in the bigs if he’s your only option.
12 Team, 5 x 5 Keeper League……… How about Lincecum for Kinsler?
Grey, Cruz has been struggling. Concerned? And if I can pull a Votto for Cruz trade, do it?
@Euroalien:
depends on your the other arms you have and you you are currently starting at 2B?
@zorob: Fuentes has been pretty unlucky as well, and he isn’t nearly as bad as he’s appeared so far this year. According to his peripherals (Ks, BBs, & HRs), his ERA should be about 1.5 runs lower than it is now. His K-rate is 3rd among active closers (behind Mike Gonzalez and Jonathan Broxton), and his ERA over the past month has actually been a respectable 2.74. That said, I agree that you could get more for Ethier, though you might have to wait for him to go on a hot streak to do so.
Liriano @ CWS. Start him or sit him?
@bobbo: Start him, before last night the sawx couldnt hit the broad side of a barn. Only reason they scored last night is because Baker is a failure.
Kaz v Oakland?
Cecil @ Bos?
@cubbies299: In 12 team league and deeper, yup. But only b/c it’s vs. the A’s.
@SRM: Parra
@Tom: I’d want Votto there.
@Mike: I’d want the Haren/Hudson side.
@Tom: I’d want Votto.
@cubbies299: Kaz
Can you rank (for the rest of the year)
Garza, Jurrjens, Lester, Shields, Burnett, Lester
Thanks.
sorry, the last lester should have been Kershaw
Garza, Jurrjens, Lester, Shields, Burnett, Kershaw
Drop Reimold for Parra?
@Grey: It makes me feel a bit better that your advice to everyone is to go after Votto. I got to say, I’m a bit nervous about this guy.
Anyone have anything new on Votto? Insider/homer information?
Guy offered me this deal…
He gives me Prince Fielder, Brian Wilson, and Ervin Santana
for my
Sizemore, Soria, and Derrek Lee.
My current starting 1B’s are D. Lee and Swisher, my outfield is Sizemore, Granderson, and McLouth, Bourn with Man-Ram on my bench til July 3.
My closers/setup are Broxton, Lindstrom, Soria, Soriano, and Bailey.
I’m not a believer in Soria coming back strong, or should I be? He is the key to the deal, because this guy sees Soria as so much better than Wilson, I just say, a save is a save, and Wilson although is worse in WHIP than Soria, doesn’t hurt me in K/9.
I had the baked Zito as well The sauce was pretty delicious, but I felt that it could have used a little more Barry Pepper. Especially since it was ordered in San Diego. I heard the chef in Seattle cooks a fine baked Zito.
@PJTres: Shields, Burnett, Jurrjens, Kershaw, Garza, Lester….
@Frank Rizzo: There’s no word yet. Some specualtion that it might be Lyme Disease, but no proof of that yet.
@Tony B.: I’d want the Fielder side there.
@pwnightmare: I’m worried that Seattle will want to add some fish to the sauce, turning it foul, but I’m hoping it’s still tasty.
@mgeoffriau: depends on who you could grab, but i would not drop dukes and keep gordon. either drop gordon or just ride dukes on you bench the next 2 weeks. gordon’s injury is much more serious, plus dukes thus far has outproduced anything gordon has done with the royals, so no reason to think gordon will outproduce dukes when (if?) he comes back after missing half a season.
@Grey: @Frank Rizzo: I was thinking the swine. Haven’t heard anything. Can’t they run some damn blood tests and tell us something other than “votto is dizzy again”.
@Grey: i agree. thanks!
@Dingo: thanks for the input!
@Scott:
imo … the nathan comment was the best comment of the day ….(think hot dogs) .
vaguely remember an old movie with rory (calhoun ?) … who made farmer brown’s sausage out of car accident fatalities , and such .
though hip could probably shed more light on this .
speaking of hip ===> i have an easy button , as well .
just figured that we all did .
maybe someone should send one to grey .
can’t believe how many trade opinions he must give during the course of a year .
putting the over-under at 6,000 .
absolutely starting cecil vs boston …. but don’t do as i say or do <==disclaimer .
@Tony B.:
keep ‘em coming . enjoying the stories .
oh yeah ….. and b.f. hip rosters sp. happ … big surprise .
wonder which marx brother is his favorite .
later .
Looking to garb a UTIL until Joey Vertigo gets over the dizzies… G. Parra or S. Hairston?
@ Grey: Stellar roundup as usual. I’m starting S.Drew, have no bench space, and today is a double header. My team hit under .200 yesterday, so it’s not like he’s the only culprit (doesn’t help to have 3 D’back hitters not named Upton), but am I asking for trouble having him in there today?
I could drop him for Peralta or Escobar. Drew would most likely still be available in 3 days .. no one in my lame league picks up FAs unless they’re performing really well.
@Mike:
My other starters are solid, Santana, Cueto, Ed. Jackson, Beckett…. with Parra and D. Price riding the pine…… So I am willing to give up Lincecum for a stud hitter like Kinsler. I need help on offense – I have Callaspo, Kendrick & K. Johnson either active or on my bench… My thought is that Kinsler is a stud and will be for years to come… I doubt any of the guys I currently have will come close to his potential production. Thanks for the help!
@big o: I think I passed 6,000 sometime in April.
@Jobu’s rum: Parra for speed and Runs. Hairston for power and RBIs.
@Prince: Thanks! I’d stick with Drew there.
Carlos Lee for Kemp/Fuentes
@big o: Thanks, hahaha. A little Sweeney Toddesque from Grey. So if Ludwick had surgery, we wouldn’t want anything off the Ryan’s grill either.
@I’m Keith Hernandez: I’d take the Kemp side.
can i drop F-her? i will never draft him again….
is sizemore for becket/victorino “fair?” the league is up in arms about this deal saying sizemore is too much to give up.
@johnson21: no reason to veto that. Victorino is Sizemore light and while Becket has sucked he has ace potential.
word i agree.
Burnett for Mags?
More of a rant than anything, but figured I’d share my displeasure with the rest of you. In my 10-team keeper I am currently in 7th and 8th place in ERA and WHIP, respectively, with the following pitching rotation: Lincecum, Sabathia, Peavy, Billingsley, Liriano, and Slowey.
How is this possible, you may ask. Well, since we have both Saves and Holds as categories, I have been blessed with the following misfortunes in my relieving corps at some point during the season: Grant Balfour, Scot Shields, Brandon Morrow, and Matt Capps.
My current pitching stats:
Starters: 286 IP / 278 K / 3.71 ERA / 1.21 WHIP
Relievers: 78 IP / 65 K / 6.49 ERA / 1.73 WHIP
(Anyone know any Holds guys better than my current Motte and Nunez? Obviously ratios are key, but I’m sucking in actual holds too.)
@johnson21: hahahah thats what i said after owning F-her last year, never again….
I need to see a CY YOUNG year before i will consider it, then he’ll go to high for me anyways. The dude will go 5 or 6 innings throwing a no hitter then walk 5 and give up a bomb…. I know he’s still young, he’s just a headache.
Wandy for Lidge straight up?
@Infamous: I’d want Burnett.
@bobbo: Who are the top Holds guys available in your league?
@I’m Keith Hernandez: I’d want Wandy.
Just traded a $1 Matt Harrison for a $6 Pierre in a keeper. Harrison’s inconsequential, long term, right? Needed some steals.
Todd Helton or Casey Blake and what are your predictions for both?
@Grey: “Top Holds Guys” I think is a relative term. However, the ones available with the most cumulative saves so far are:
Seay (9), Stetter (8), Parnell (8), and Affeldt (7)
Some others of note:
Jim Johnson (6), Tony Pena (5), Dan Wheeler (5), Jose Mijares (4), Danys Baez (3), Michael Wuertz (2), and Joel Zumaya (1)
Kendry Morales or Jermaine Dye for the rest of the year?
Aside from Kendry having more doubles, there stats are eerily similar at this point in the season.
This would be for a Utility spot, H2H points-based scoring.
@bobbo: Madson, Leo Nunez, Rafael Soriano. Probably many others, but as Grey said, it depends on who’s available.
@Scott: Thanks for the tips. I actually just grabbed Nunez a day or two ago along with Motte (got sick and tired of Balfour and Shields sucking up the place). Madson and Soriano are long gone.
Holds suck
@SaltyBiscuits: gotta go with dye and his history over morales, but ya never know….
@Mann of Sandd: Yeah, that’s fine.
@Basketnarb: Blake — 25/90/.275 Helton — 12/80/.310
@bobbo: Yeah, totally relative, but for the purposes of this I’d go with the top WHIP/K guys and hope for Holds so Zumaya and Wuertz.
@bobbo: Oh yeah, I see that in your original post now (about Nunez). Makes sense that if you have Motte, Madson and Soriano would be gone. I agree with Grey’s assessment (of course).
Blalock or Blake – who’d you rather have for the rest of the year?
@steamer: Blake, really only because he won’t kill your average. I would think Blake will soon start getting pitched around if he continues to hit 8th. Unless, of course, C Bills is going to hit doubles in the gap.
I would start Kazmir tonight, but the last time I thought, “oh, it’s just the A’s,” I got Hochevar’d.
@Ernie Imbroglio: Yeah, me too. But I think you still have to do it.
*******There’s a new post.**********
seem ok to trade A. Gonzalez for Hamels if I’m light on pitching, heavy on hitting? I would replace Gonzo with Votto. Or with C. Davis if Votto ends up in a Hitchcock film.
@brad: Yeah, that trade’s fine.
*******There’s a new post.**********
nice and smooth with gangstar…very nice.
@AJ: Sorry, your comment was in the spam filter for some reason. I’d go with Parra.
@kevyn billington: And you know that!
@johnson21: i would say that’s not enough for sizemore.
@Euroalien:
I think Kendrick will come around and it’s not like Callaspo is hurting you. Kinsler is worth a stud arm in return, so it’s not a crazy offer, but I wouldn’t trade Lincecum for him considering your other 2B options. Trade Cueto and a bat for an upgrade of a position of need, but don’t give up Lincecum unless it’s totally necessary.
C-Bills & J. Johnson for David Wright??
I knew I loved this blog, but 2 Gang Starr references in the first paragraph alone? Sublime.
@danimal35: Please ask questions in the latest blog post if it’s not related to the post. I’d want Wright, but it’s fair and if I needed pitching I’d consider it.
