I like this team a lot. It’s a super risky team, but if a few of those picks pay off (Hamilton/Upton). You’re getting some great, great value.

What do you think of this draft in a 10-team league? Usually I lean on starting pitching more heavily but i thought I’d give this a shot… I drafted with the 7th pick in the first round:

So Josh Hamilton is a wash? Go ahead. Pass up drafting Josh Hamilton. When you see “30 Homeruns” next to the name “Hamilton, Josh” and his stats before the 2010 All – Star game, well, maybe you will change your mind.

@Grey: Rollins will almost undoubtedly be a keeper. Is Phillips or Roberts or Pedroia a reach for that 39th pick? If not should I just get a big bat like Morneau? We use 2 util, 5of, ci, mi, and the 4 positions.

@Wyatt: No, I wouldn't. @TimSTi: I'd take a middle infielder or an outfielder -- think Rollins or Upton-type -- and a starter, think Lester-type.

@Grey: or @Anyone else: 10 team 5×5 3 keepers. I have 9th pick. My keepers are Pujols Kemp n Youk. I traded my 2nd and 4th picks away. Any advice what to target with my 1st and 3rd picks? Its a snake draft so I’ll have picks 39, 59 , 79, 82, 99 etc assuming the 30 keepers are picks 1-30. Thanks.

Grey: you have the oppurtunity to take Crawford in the 2nd round and Reyes in the 3rd, do you do it? Lets say you took Utley in the 1st, or Braun.

@David: You lose a round ahead for each year and 1st rounders are just 1st rounders. So a 1st rounder and a 2nd rounder would be two first rounders and you lose a third rounder, and so on.

Soto is falling like a rock in ESPN. The rankings are totally throwing most people off (currently slotted in around 200).

I have faith in his bounce back. So much so I plan on calling him re-Soto for the rest of the year.

@Grey: @Doc: I'm lucky enough to start with Hanley and ARod in my keeper league (4th year). I'm probably looking at either J Upton or Ellsbury with my first pick. Should I go with the upside pick of Mr. Up-side since my 2 position keepers are so rock solid? Or go with Ellsbury and have my SBs about 75% taken care of.

Q: For folks like you who run a fantasy baseball website and give lots of opinions on players, draft lists, etc, aren’t you at a disadvantage when you go into an actual draft. Because your hand has already been shown? I’ve always wondered how y’all pull that off.

Also, how do you feel about Carlos Gomez. Lots of speed, obviously, but he didn’t show up on your OF rankings.

@Steve: good call. reading comp is a good thing. i still don't like that pick. i don't think i would spend a 3rd rounder on phillips. he's nice but it seems you could get more at a different position that early in the draft.
