@Rolf Samuels: Missed the "wary" and "weary" on my reread - as did Grey. Baseball America reported positives with caveats of warning, as did some other sources. Other teams didn't value either of them as highly as the Rangers nor did they want to shelled out a few million dollars on them either. A lot of the wariness is based on the price of those two players contracts. They have great upside, project to be good signings, but like you said, international signings aren't a sure thing.

It’s “wary” you mean and not “weary.” And where do you get the idea that other teams were wary of Profar and Sardinas? Baseball America reported only that clubs preferred Profar as a pitcher rather than a shortstop. But it’s true they are getting hype and more generally true that the track record for international free agents is not good.

@Quintero: I picked up Arrieta a few days ago in a 20 team roto league because all the rookies are getting picked up faster than the only female at a sauage fest. I also need pitching, pitching and more pitching help. I would give him a look only in the deepest of leagues - I mean he is in the AL East. I believe, but don't know, that the O's will keep him in the minors like they did last year with Matsuz and bring up Arrieta in late August or September. No reason to rush him if all is going sour in Baltimore.

@Stephen: The Jake Arrieta gonna-been-called-up-on-Saturday whasupsie is cooling down today as "they" said that Berken might get a shot at it. Are you gaining faith on Arrieta as '10 season progress? I know its only 25IP and his BB/9 stays roughly the same, while having a .217 BABIP so far. I want to believe because the Fastball/Slider combo, 56GB% this season and the potential of throw 175IP this year. Point the way if you have time. Let there be light! Thanks, man.

So, I was offered Haren and Beckett for my Nelson Cruz and Duchscherer. 12 team h2h w/ ops and losses.

I have Manny on my DL and plenty of other pop in my OF (Werth, Holliday, Bruce, Soriano).

My pitching is OK, highlights include J Santana, E Santana, Duchs, Anderson, Kershaw and Peavy.

Should I try and swap Peavy into the deal for Duchs?

@Mojo the Helper Monkey: Remember when Jay Bruce came up and rocked the MLB for his first 10 days? What happened after that? Not much. Just because Smoak happened to start slow doesn't mean that he will continue in that same path. I'd give him another week and a half and then reassess. @jesse: I am not sure I am following. @Mr2Bits: Hehe. But super true. @mauledbypandas: @Mojo the Helper Monkey: If you can hold onto him for another week or so, I'd do that.

@Mojo the Helper Monkey: I have him on my bench in a 12 man league. Hoping he might figure things out soon. A guy like that though who has good plate discipline will find his way sooner or later. I hope it will be sooner. Still, I don't see him as a starter in 12 team mixed just yet, AL only maybe.

I think I have seen every Smoak at bat since he was called up. He doesn’t look totally overmatched, but he isn’t really putting great wood on the ball either. He has a great eye, that can’t be argued, but I would like to see some more solid contact.

@mauledbypandas: They had the greatest Quad-A player in recent history with Nelson Cruz, and now Chris Davis may take that title sooner rather than later. Always nice to have depth. @Mojo the Helper Monkey: 1 for 13 with a 3:5 K:BB, 1 RBI and 1 R. Not great, but it's a small sample size. What's nice to see is the five walks. Patiences is the key with rookie hitters.
