In case you missed it, May rolled over into June yesterday, which is an exciting development for those of us who’ve been stashing guys like Wil Myers, Zack Wheeler, and Christian Yelich.  Most folks are projecting dates in mid-June for the Super Two cutoff, so we’re likely just a couple weeks away from some high-impact call-ups.  Of course, these Super Two projections are an inexact science, and it’s always possible that ball clubs err on the side of caution, and give it an extra week or two for cushion.  In any case, Myers, in particular, is heating up at just the right time.  I’d already speculated that his cold start wouldn’t delay his timetable much, but you can forget that conversation entirely now.  Through his last ten, Myers is batting .341 with 5 homers and 19 RBI.  If he’s somehow available in your league, now is a good time to stash him.

Raul Mondesi | SS, Royals I’ve written about him as Adalberto Mondesi in the past, but he’d like to be called Raul now.  The 17-year-old is hitting .351/.390/.676 with 3 homers through his last ten games.  That stretch includes a game in which he hit for the cycle.  If he continues raking at Low-A at age 17, he’ll move into the top ten on several off-season prospect lists.

Anthony Rendon | 3B, Nationals The Nats have promoted Rendon to Triple-A, where he’ll spend most of his time playing 2B.  It seems Washington is intensifying their consideration of Rendon as a replacement for Danny Espinosa.

Jake Marisnick | OF, Marlins Marisnick has six homers through his first 28 games at Double-A Jacksonville, posting an ISO north of .300, which is ridiculous. Still, he needs to close some holes in his swing before the Marlins can feel comfortable promoting him — a 36/5 K/BB is a tad alarming.

Andrew Heaney | RHP, Marlins Through two starts and 9.1 IP at High-A Jupiter, Heaney has whiffed 15, walked 3, and allowed zero earned runs.  The 9th overall pick last June should push through to Double-A before long.

Mike Olt | 3B/1B, Rangers Olt has returned after dealing with an eye issue for the past month.  He homered in his first game back.  The 24-year-old has huge power and is prone to streakiness, so don’t be surprised if he catches a heater here and starts bombing like crazy.

Gerrit Cole | RHP, Pirates Cole allowed no runs and only 3 baserunners in 7 IP his last time out, whiffing 5 in the process.  He’s not far from a call-up, but he needs to show some consistency first.

Robert Stephenson | RHP, Reds The Reds top pitching prospect is having a nice year in the Midwest League and his best start of the season came this past Thursday.  The 20-year-old allowed only 1 hit while whiffing 9 and walking 2 through 6.2 IP.  No runs crossed the plate.  Through 11 starts, Stephenson posted a 3.32 ERA, a 1.09 WHIP, and a K/9 at 11.6.

George Springer | OF, Astros Springer continues in to scorch the Texas League, collecting 3 more homers in his last 5 games.  He leads the minors with 16 on the year.

Jonathan Singleton | 1B, Astros Singleton returned from suspension earlier in the week and has taken part in three contests at Quad Cities so far.  He’s homered in all three games.  Perhaps he’s a little too advanced for Low-A ball.

Xander Bogaerts | SS, Red Sox Bogaerts is starting to find his power stroke, cracking 3 homers in his last three games at Double-A Portland.  The 20-year-old has his YTD line up to .290/.380/.478.

Oscar Taveras | OF, Cardinals Taveras wasn’t recovering as quickly as the Cardinals thought he would, and he’s now been placed on the disabled list.  It’s been three weeks since baseball’s best offensive prospect has taken the field.  Sad Scott is sad.

Trevor Bauer | RHP, Indians — In his last three outings at Triple-A Columbus, Bauer has allowed 18 runs through 16.1 IP.  During that same stretch, the 22-year-old has posted a K/BB at 10/14.  That Didi Gregorius trade keeps looking better and better for the D’Backs.
