@The Real Quiz: It will count as a start, even if it says RP. Yeah, that's how it goes with games started on your last day. For instance, in ESPN I had 180 max and I was at 179. I started 9 guys and maxed out at 187.

Question for Grey or anyone out there:

In an ESPN H2H league, can I put in a RP (or a RP eligible pitcher) that starts and pitches however many innings (i.e. Buckner for the D-Backs tomorrow) and have it go against my allotment of 19 games started? Will ESPN recognize that this RP is actually not pitching in relief but is starting?

And is the rule of thumb regarding the validity of all games pitched on the day you max out your pitching true for all types (H2H vs. Roto) and brands (Yahoo, ESPN, etc.) of leagues?

@Tony: OK. Cincy gets Stl and Cubs home to start the year. Bruce slugging combined .737 in last 6 vs Stl and last 6 vs Cubs. Plus, Cincy has 46 home, 34 away thru June. Should give Bruce plenty of opportunity. (Stats are great. You can make them do almost anything.)

@Tony: Wow, thanks for providing the minor league numbers. I think anyone would project a better MLB avg than he has achieved. Although, I don’t know what a standard index is to be applied to minor league averages projecting to the majors. Regardless, I see the signs. For Sept:
.353 AVG/.755 SLG/.463 OBP. Definitely pointing to good stuff next year.
Still can’t concede the steals. For his MLB career he has 7 SB (345AB) and 9 CS. There were only THREE players in 2008 who had 7 SB and a matching (or almost) number of CS:
F. Lopez, 2B, 8/8, followed by 6/6 for 2009
M. Tejada, SS, 7/7, followed by 5/2 for 2009
Your ONE OF is Pence: 11/10 followed by 14/11 for 2009. The next OF with as many CS as SB was Reed Johnson 5/6 followed up with 2/1.
Bruce has been caught steeling his last 3 this year. His last successful attemp May 13.
So, I have come around to: is Sept enough for me to believe that Bruce may hit close to .300, get more walks, move up in the lineup, and drive in some runs with those HRs? And, would that be worthy given negligible SBs? Maybe. If he gets that average up, then he probably jumps ahead of someone like Coghlan who will hit give you average and obp, but not the HRs and likewise doesn’t produce SBs.
This is a lot of thinking outloud. Do you put him about the same spot?
