FWIW, I agreed with your post when it looked like he might get Desmond Jenningsed, but part of that was that June 1 was the earliest he was likely to get called up, and there was risk it still wouldn’t be for a month or two after that. The extension makes a huge difference. Unless there’s an extenuating circumstance (such as an extenuating elbow ligament, knock on wood), he’ll be in the rotatation to start the year now. Even if that’s only 30-40 more innings, that could be 50 extra Ks, a few extra wins, and quite a bit more weight to those ratios.

@Tony: 8 players are Kept Tony, and all need to be offered a contract to be kept obviously. As for what a first round pick’s worth, I’ve no idea really, it’s my first year in this. That’s why i’m posting in here It’s such a difficult one to judge, as they are such different things, and of course prospects don’t always prosper…

@Grey: yeah its give and take, but if starlin can jump to the 10+ HR range, steal 25 bags, and hit over .300… that’s pretty nice for where he’ll go compared to Reyes.

Im looking at them in a 10×10 H2H as well not 5×5 roto. It kind of affects my thinking on reyes being overvalued. Now if I knew he’d hit .330+ again, then reyes is super valuable, but 2011 was the first year he’s batted OVER .300 since he was 20 yrs old and he ONLY batted .307 then. So he’s obviously much more of a .290-.300 hitter like his stats say from the other 7 years of data.

Man did he hit the jackpot hitting .337 the year before he’s due up for a big Free Agency???
