This might be a stupid question, but with the bases loaded and no one out, why isn’t Blanton just taking (or being told to take) all the way?

Surely it’s better to burn an out there than risk having what just happened, happen?

im’ in a h2h league, and the last week of the season starts tomorrow.

@Steve: TRUE. But, I have a couple caveats to my earlier comments…

1) Rotowire has Esmerling Vasquez next in line, not Gutierrez.
2) Zavada’s number are the “best” – but not as good as his ERA suggests (don’t like the walks), then Vasquez, then Gutierrez.
3) Upon further research, it looks like Zavada has hardly been used in the 8th in a close game. He’s often been coming in during the 6th or so. Plus, he’s a lefty (whereas Vasquez and Gutierrez are righties).

I’m thinking this might be a dreaded committee situation.
