@Steve: TRUE. But, I have a couple caveats to my earlier comments…

1) Rotowire has Esmerling Vasquez next in line, not Gutierrez.
2) Zavada’s number are the “best” – but not as good as his ERA suggests (don’t like the walks), then Vasquez, then Gutierrez.
3) Upon further research, it looks like Zavada has hardly been used in the 8th in a close game. He’s often been coming in during the 6th or so. Plus, he’s a lefty (whereas Vasquez and Gutierrez are righties).

I’m thinking this might be a dreaded committee situation.

@peter: Actually, Gutierrez’s numbers and Zavada’s aren’t that far off from each other. I’m pulling my hair out on this one because – again, since Rauch was just moved – there’s not much of a sample size to see who the regular 8th inning guy is.

@Grey: i'd take kemp over grady anyday, and i'm a cleveland fan from OHIO! Can't pass up that .300 average. Grady just seems to never be able to get over that .250 ish mark or hangs right around it.... If Grady could hit .280 ish he'd be an absolute monster. He just hasn't put it together like that yet.
