First, Fowler’s fast enough to straight steal a base if necessary. Second, Spilborough’s been swinging a good bat and is no slouch. Third, Atkins isn’t enough of a threat to make them pitch to Helton. Of course, I tend to think the sacrifice is overused anyway, but this especially didn’t make sense.

Crap, the Ducks just scored to even the series 1-1 with Detroit.

He’s been bringing Broxton in for more than one inning saves with men on base recently, which doesn’t work well when you’ve got a closer who’s effectively wild. Broxton blew the save last time, but picked up the win. Good from a fantasy perspective. Bad managing, IMO.
